Introducing: Project "Elsifour" A Custom CB400T Honda Elsinore Tribute
Переглядів 425Місяць тому
It's been a while... and I've probably lost my mind... but I'm back with a nutty project I've had on my mind for over 7 years. I'm taking two bikes, a 1978 Honda CB400T and 1986 Honda CB450SC Nighthawk and turning them into a one off custom dual sport / adventure motorcycle I'm dubbing "The Elsifour". This project is a tribute to the 1979 Honda CR250R Elsinore AKA The Red Rocket!

Love my Rebel so so much
Great video bro. I have a question. In Aliexpress the front figure has a measurement of 82 cm and the rear of 145 cm. What happens is that I currently have a specialized stumjumper comp alloy from 2019 in size L, so I read in many forums that the rear cable, that is, the rear brake is very short, is this could be true since the rear cable of the e4 Pro is 155cm, 10 centimeters more than the one here.
My rear was super long. I don't remember the measurements off hand unfortunately. You're saying your stumpjumper is 10mm longer than what's spec'd?
Meet the fookers killer?
live local and new to riding got my permit and have a 99 bmw f650 would love to ride with you!
Have you ever rode an Icebear? You should ride one and ask yourself which one you should buy. To me the Icebear is not close to being in the same league of quality, fit and finish.
No, the Yamaha XMAX 300 does not have a big bore engine. Wish it did!
2:38 6th gear going 40mph? what the ???????
I'm about ready to pull the trigger on a Ripmo v2s on closeout from N+1 Bikes. I think they're one of the top ten shops in the US
Awesome to hear! In my opinion they're #1!
The XMax300 will outperform most of the cafe racers of the 1960s but you are not recognised by Harley riders or sports bike riders. I’ve just given up big bikes as I have just had my 78th birthday, but I’m enjoying the little Yamaha scooter just as much as the Suzuki 1000cc bike I had until recently. The only problem is that the insurance costs in the UK are higher than the Suzuki presumably because scooters get stolen more frequently.
Said another way: I really like this bike and it would be a big purchase for me. What do think I could get a bike like this for? I think I saw it somewhere for under 5K, but no idea if have my size. Again, awesome vids.
I think you can find them for around $4k now on certain sites. Just depends on what size you need. Thanks for watching man!
Super helpful. Interesting. Can I ask you how much you paid? Maybe give me a general sense of cost compared to the list? You say, great bang for buck….so wondering about the buck.😊
Is that the part number for the front brakes? What’s the part number for the other brake pads
I find the Challenger handles much better than the Chieftain on the highway. It manages wind better in my opinion. However, the Thunderstroke offers more customization options.
Im not surprised it rides just like new at that mileage. I've seen some with 100K miles at some local bike nights I go to and they're confident it'll go for quite some time after! I recently got into baggers with a Moto Guzzi Flying Fortress, but as beautiful as it is, I am not at all confident this bike will make it much longer. it's got 22K miles now and while it's perfectly healthy, the lack of parts (it took me 5 months to get a very simple part for it) made me squeamish about keeping it. I guess, I'll be on a Challenger soon then!
Do you know what brand those saddlebags are ?
I'm pretty sure those are the stock bags that came on the bike
2025 they will make this bike again.
what do you mean you cant bleed like a shimano?
Aweful on my Cube 140slx in the mud. Don’t clear thick Mun and loose traction. Swapped out for Big Betty and Magic Mary. May use them for summer trails
New subscriber! Thx man
Music? No.
Cool video, thanks for the upload. Question, is it a requirement to have a Harley to join Rare Breed, could you join with an Indian motorcycle?
Halfway in, still have not heard the engine.. moving on
It's pretty quiet... Not sure you'd hear much. 😅 But cheers, thanks for watching 🤙
You might as well swap the red tank on to the new bike
Don't have a title for that frame and the head angle is too slack... But that certainly would have been easier lol
I had a 2020 Challenger. It was great at first. It was plagued with mechanical and electronic issues. I gave up on it at 16K miles. Too bad, I did like it.
Looking forward to what you come up with.
Interesting!🔥
I like a good project, a budget mini T7 or MT450. I've thought about a similar project. Will be intetesting to see how this comes along.
i know this is a old video but how did the kayo do on gas trail riding like that and how big is the stock gas tank ?
“Seat Concepts”, all the way!!

Juicy 3 had nice enough power for me when I was a kid, but I wa slight then, but the return spring/ master cylinder spring wor eout so the lever was returning slowly, seals were worn so ha dbo power then. But this will happen to any brake at some point. I had. On issues locking up the wheels. But the pads could not be taken out from the top. And they used dot brka fluid. Which I hate as it's toxic, bad for eyes. I've never tried them since. But when enw they grabbed well. But had a different feel to other brakes. But did the job until I simply wore down the consumable wear parts. I only us eminerlanoil brakes now. But having spare parts is a must. So I won't buy these brakes. I have Formula Cura 4 which I rebuilt recently. Did a full caliper anf caliper rebuild. But with those brakes rgtec levers is a must have upgrade as the original levers have crappy bushings that wea rin less than 400km.
I am thinking about buying on but wind buffeting is my biggest concern. I've real that its a serious problem on the Cross Country. Ive got a Jackpot now and love it. Would love another Vic in my garage
Go for an Indian chieftain with the power windscreen or an aftermarket taller windscreen for the cross country would be a cheap fix. The cross country is an awesome bike.
@evelkestriegel Thanks for the suggestion. I'm absolutley in love with my Vegas Jackpot, so I'm leaning heavily towards another Victory. Thanks again
I have this same Havasu Red Cross Country with oem 11 inch screen, but there are several aftermarket mfgs also. Adjustabel Madstad windshields may be the best. For me and may others, I put on the Witchdoctors wind fork lowers which are metal (can paint them to match or whatever you want). Buffeting problem was gone. Except for the summer months I also put chaps on the engine guards and it even help more. Im also 6 foot . By the way it is a great bike, probably a sport type bagger, not top heavy. Find one with cams, Lloyds air filter and a Maximus ECU tune,, or by one and get this done like I did and you will have 115 hp and 115 torque. Very reliable bikes, just normal maint. This gentleman reviewer is correct, it is a fun bike to ride. By the way, the bags hold the most in the bagger market.
Is your camera mounted to your chest? This low view is something ….
Yeah chest mount. Lost my bar mount that day 😅🤘
Turn... off... the... fucking... music...
Do you know if the bar clamps can support having a dropper lever or suspension lockout / shifter attached for better Handlebar management?
Interesting, haven't tried that, but I imagine if you have the mount that just uses the same bolt it might work.

Idk why they don't make a better seat for the 500s
They don’t care 40-50k Harley Davidsons have crap seats as well. Just how it goes and we keep buying them.
I am NOT knocking your bike or video BUT 46,000 miles is “high mileage” ? I have a 2012 Goldwing 75,000 that runs the same as the day I bought it with 28,000 miles Never broke down or felled to start never any issues I the motorcycle organization I ride with their are bikes with 130,000 to 180,000 that’s common and a high mileage wing with 230,000 and a couple of videos on UA-cam with a Goldwing 400,000 + miles I love all motorcycles and my comment is not in any way meant to be offensive or to talk bad about Indian , Harley or any other motorcycle I’m only saying that your bike in my opinion doesn’t have high miles Be careful and ride often 🤙
Is there a risk of the bolt coming unscrewed? is there a way to avoid this problem?
Keep an eye on the bolt but I've never had a problem with it
@@evelkestriegel Could it help to put some thread locking fluid?
Bro tell me it’s not a 5 speed manual
6 speed.
@@evelkestriegel thank god the old ones were 5 I couldn’t stand that 💩
Rode it home in the pouring rain and it was awesome rips through highway
Just bought one today for 1,400$ with only 11,615 miles. I already love it I’m gonna get on the highway once the stupid rain stops
I just bought a '14 Rebel from Bluegrass with only 900ish miles on it, and looking forward to using it to commute.
How do you feel about a 450 on the back? 🤔
Wouldn't be a problem I'd think. I've hauled my Enduro bike on the rack without issues and it's heavier than a modern 450
For anyone who is looking to buy these brakes - there are versions M4, E4 and IV4R which are quite the same price, but IV4R is the latest and greatest version. You're welcome.
Thanks man
Do you know if the bar clamps can support having a dropper lever or suspension lockout / shifter attached for better Handlebar management?
@@Obiutary I'm not sure, haven't tried yet. The clamp looks really similar - or 100% the same - as Trickstuff Maxima's brake clamp and Trickstuff is manufacturing adapters for Shimano and Sram. There is also similar looking adapters for sale on Ali.
Hey, have you taken the IV4R’s on any longer descents? Im considering buying them but there are hardly any lengthy reviews. Thanks
@@turtle6234 they really arent brakes for downhill, but for everything else they're are bang for the buck.
HD loosing sales too Indian
Nice man! I’m a paraplegic and haul my kayaks and what not on a harbor freight trailer, and get about 24 average myself. I was donated a power chair and don’t really need it, but want to use it for long trips and what not. It ways about 450 lbs. Do you think the Subaru hitch will handle it ok?
Unfortunately I think that's a little over the weight limit for tongue weight. Double check before you install. Thanks for watching!
I have one and they’re nice bites I just wanna put a bigger motor in eventually or 200 they do come as a 124 cc but I said cause I’m a big boy it’s struggled a little bit on takeoff eventually would like to put a race clutch in it with a 1000 RPM springis this financially expensive to do what is a good bike I have one I like it I just wish it was a little bit more power but that’s just me because I’m 300+
Garcia Amy Hall Jeffrey Rodriguez Ruth
I kind of hate it. I love the idea, but they should have done a more faithful tribute to the CL350 of old. It needs a standard frame, not a cruiser frame, high rise pipes, and actually decent ground clearance. This bike is a scrambler in name only.
