3 Free Poultry Feeds: Azolla, Acorns, and Olives
Переглядів 3612 роки тому
I meant to post this before the previous video on our custom turkey feed mix. Anyway turkeys should always have access to grass and small plants. Since that's not always possible, here are three other free poultry foods that are high in essential fats and other nutrients. The most surprising is azolla, a ferny water plant that forms on the tops of ponds. Check it out more at the Azolla Foundati...
Heritage Turkey Feeding Strategy and Custom Feed Mix
Переглядів 9 тис.2 роки тому
Here's a custom heritage turkey feed mix that has been working well for year-round feeding. This is much more complete than just plain crumbles. You can make your own ratio- I currently use 3 parts starter, 2 parts scratch, and 1/2 part each of sunflower seeds, oats, and barley. Poults will still need the plain starter, and hens will still need a calcium source such as oyster shell. They also n...
Cheap and Easy Turkey Watering Buckets V2.0
Переглядів 2282 роки тому
It was time to make new watering buckets for this year, and these turned out quite a bit better than last year's. The screw-on lids are the biggest improvement. Lil Clucker large auto watering cups from Amazon are the best so I went with those again...
Turkey Drama! 4-Way Turkey Punk Gang Fight
Переглядів 9302 роки тому
Filmed fall of 2021. I ended up with 4 adolescent males which weren't sold by fall, in addition to the Golden Palm and Bourbon Red toms I already had. Let's just say that with 6 males in the yard there is a lot of drama! This one was pretty funny, basically a 4-way neck wrestling match. BTW only 2 ended up in the freezer, I sold the nicer Red Palm jake as a pet and kept the feisty one(his name ...

Mass Turkey Hatching Setup Part 2 Initial Brooder Setup
Переглядів 2582 роки тому
Here is what I've learned by trial and error regarding initial brooder setup for turkey poults. I use a 150 - 250W heat lamp(depending on ambient temp), a 16 x 24" heating plate, and a kiddie pool brooder(all covered in previous videos).
Mass Turkey Hatching Setup Part 1

I started 30 eggs recently and wanted to share my setup. The best results have come from using a pair of Hovabator 1588's, one to hatch and the second to move the new poults into.
Natural Treatment for Poultry Diseases such as Toxoplasmosis?!!
Переглядів 9782 роки тому
I had previously uploaded a video showing the treatment of toxoplasmosis with the antibiotic spiramycin. This antibiotic is not approved for poultry in the U.S., and has possible side effects of misused. However there is a natural treatment which may be effective for toxoplasmosis and upper respiratory diseases in general- good old black elderberry(sambucus nigra)! I'll pin as the top comment t...

Stencilled Red Palm- the Calmest, Sweetest Turkey Breed
Переглядів 1,6 тис.3 роки тому
The Red Palm is created by combining Bourbon Red and Royal Palm. Most look like a prettier version of a wild turkey, but about 30% take a tan look with white stencilling. This variety is in our opinion the calmest, sweetest breed of heritage turkey. They make great pets and companion birds.
Cute Batch of Random Heritage Turkey Poults @ 9 weeks
Переглядів 1,2 тис.3 роки тому
Here's what our group of rare heritage turkey poults(more like rowdy turkey teenagers at this point) look like at about 9 weeks. They're starting to take on their adult coloring. One is particularly beautiful, a 75/25 Royal Palm - Bourbon Red male.
Deep Litter System for Poultry Waste Management
Переглядів 6583 роки тому
Here's my version of the 'deep litter' system for managing poultry waste. It uses a 1-foot deep box filled with wood chips placed under the roosts to absorb the droppings. For just a few birds I turn the chips when they look dirty, and for lots of birds they would be turned daily. After one year, it is changed.

It's been expecially cold at night lately- and five times this week, I've found severely chilled poults on the verge of death. Fortunately, all survived. Here's how.

Cute Meat Turkey Poults Happy in Their New Brooder
Thank you for this information I'm new to turkeys
2:30 is so cute. Their tiny vocalizations are comforting. Thanks for the clip.
Hi, your turkeys look so healthy well done for caring for them.I have two rescue turkeys living with me in my spare room I do talk with them mainly politics and environmental issues, however I don't really get much feedback from them I am now of the opinion they don't understand English?. Could they be Turkish or something?.I don't know much of their background any advice would be great thank you in advance.❤
My babies are spoiled rotten and wouldn't want them any other way !!!
Please do an update. Your videos are amazing
If I own a turkey, the only thing I eat thanksgiving is ham.
If i would make that into a 2mm pallet would i be able to give it to quails
Animals are very amazing in their affection and empathy. 😍
I am thinking about raising some turkeys. But I am not sure... What does their house look like?
The beak looks very big like a velociraptor snout
Wow you’ve got amazing variants of turkeys.
Ever name any Butterball, or Thursday's commin'?
Umm... trauma? Not like the natural life where the hens go to college and become boss-babes, and prioritize carrer over family, and when they reacj a certain age, they decide to freeze some eggs. Its weird to me how people compare animals to humans, and say inhumane. Yeah, their not humans. Treat them well, but geez, they get bred against their will no matter what. Bro sounds vegan.
im going to cry i want a pet turkey but don't have the land for it
U know lots about turkeys please answer my question I want to cross breed by burbon red male turkey with a white female what will b the result of chicks will they be just white or red And with bronze female
Sambucus ahh what'd you call me!
Our Tom is a Narraganset. He mates with a Royal Palm, Slate, Bronze, and Spanish hen. Do you know the names of any of those mixes? What do you think about those mixes?
But if no crack can we do that ? Cz my egg die all of them just 1 survive fron 35 eeg
great video; about to order one and do you think 5” wider and longer foot would be better?
where did you order this?
This is my dream come true❤
I recommend Holland Whites as well. My jenny Bubbles is just like this one. She looks in your eyes. And she always responds to her name and even vocally. She follows me everywhere and trys to peck at "do my hair".
I think they enjoy fighting.
Thanks! This is helpful!
1:35 lmao 😭
It works also in fertile eggs? did you try to incubate the fertile eggs stored in water glass with lime?
Have you continued to breed these crosses? Can you do another video of them?
Smart idea!!! Thank you for sharing.
I’m constantly “makin it rain” in this Texas summer heat, then I feel bad my Turkey thinks I’m being mean so I make it rain on both of us 😂😂😂 Grear video thank you!!!!
Use fakes and maybe swap in a duck or chicken egg let them build up a couple. Take some, swap some, incubate some, counterfeit some.
I just happened on your channel. I am a commercial turkey grower. Gonna take a peak through your videos!!
Gday mate do you mix your own feed
turkeys are wonderful :) i also love how i could IMMEDIATELY tell which one was the boy lol, big showoff
Coon my get the eggs but I don’t think the hen is in danger.
mine does that when she is about ready to chase down the roosters
I am still using my 1588 incubators that I bought in 2004 . I have 3 with egg turners . I have no idea how many chicken eggs , duck eggs , quail eggs , pheasant eggs ,chuckar eggs and emu eggs I have hatched with them .
How much times do I fill the water in the time process
@@JohnArmijo-rm1ks , i fill one of the water areas every three days . I fill both on day 18 and pull egg turner .
I have had a bronze broad breasted, hen for 4 years, she is very freindly. She even recovered from a nasty trip that left her unable to walk for a few weeks. Still quite healthy, loves roaming around the yard.
I bought my first turkey only because I really wanted baby chicks… tractor supply had an online deal that would give me one turkey and niine baby chicks for $20 bucks and I was paying about $35-$45 for just 10 baby chicks. So I placed a few orders and I discovered I love the turkeys then I started placing two or three orders a week because I just really wanted the turkeys, but they purposely started shipping all the animals in one container that would eventually cause so much stress or trauma that if they didn’t arrive dead, they would die within a few days, they even started shipping extra turkeys in case some of them died, but it didn’t matter because they would end up dying eventually within a few days. I started placing separate orders at different times so they wouldn’t ship them together, but then they just started sending me chicks only.. I would complain and they would re-order and it would be just chicks and after about four or five times they must’ve gotten sick of me because they raised the price where it actually cost more to order that bundle then to order the turkeys individually. When a baby turkey dies, it’s like a kitten or a puppy but worse because a baby turkey will love you instantly.. I never did eat any of my turkeys, but I would always joke and say I wonder if the turkeys taste better because they really love me.
Mine does that😂
😂😂😂
I have found everything you have said in this video to be 100% correct
How does that work ??. What is the hatching method, is it without incubation
Your turkey's are so cute! I plan to have some as pets when I can afford to get a solid fence and coop. We subscribe to your channel. It's interesting and educational.
Is there any way to get in touch with you? I have urgent turkey related questions. Are you on any social media? Anything? I would really appreciate your help.
but won't they get shrink wrapped when you take the egg out of the incubator before they hatch ?
I have not experienced any of my turkeys getting shrink wrapped by helping the bird get out of the egg. I have experienced them suffocating because they can't breathe or get out I do not believe in lockdown
What breed are these white turkeys? We are very new to turkeys.
Thanks for your honesty. Dam do I appreciate it hard . Wow an honest man. I am a man that just wants the truth. Wow didn't expect that. Freaking yeeeeeeeeeeeee haaaaaàaaaaaa. I hope you read this comment. Thank you again
This is just what I have been looking for. I lost 3 out of five . The mama is still sitting on her eggs. Please when the mama was still laying eggs, one egg got broken by the tom and poured on others. Can it affect the hatching of the ones that were stained with the broken egg?
Yes.
Can humans use it
What if the Male doesn't know how to mate? The Toms my Mom has are inexperienced and struggle to mate woth tge Hens. Even when the Hens are willing the males dont know what to do. Please what can I do?
They learn, I’ve only had my Tom for less than a month, he mounted my hen a few times, but never succeeded, then about a week ago, he finally succeeded, the eggs are on the road to hatching, and have very obvious development.
Thanks for the tips...This is my first year with heritage turkeys are... I have a bournon red hen that i want to let her hatch a few out....
I have a tom and 4 hens one hen is laying bur eggs aren't fertile now i know he is mating her because her back is all dirty.I put 5 eggs in the incubator and not one was fertile.
