We just hatched out our first turkey hatchlings ever. Mom sat on 12-15 eggs for about a month, 9 hatched, two have died so far. My question is, should I attempt to remove the hatchlings from mom and put in a brooder, or let her do the work? (tbh I'm not sure I could get them from her even if I tried, but I've read so much about how many of them die with mom so I thought brooding them might be a better option)
Ok so I have been collecting my turkey eggs and been putting them in yhe incubator. I almost have enough to pit back in thr nest but she is still roosting at night. How do I go about putting the eggs and her in t I the run. Should I put the male in with her?
I’m starting my own little turkey project . We have 5 blue slate chicks. Plan is our daughter is going to show at fair for 4 h . I’ll be watching for more videos for tips thanks
Great information Our turkey has laid since march I have been collecting them until last week or two she has a couple in there but it was chilly for 3 night in a row it froze so thoes ones are iffy? I don't want to take her eggs away but i should mark them;) then i can take them away later when she lays more? Candle them first to make sure but thats great information thanks
I'm in south Florida. I just built a coop but part of it is in direct sunlight. My turkey hen finally laid four eggs today for the first time, but they are in the middle of the coop and In sunlight. I'm afraid to move then. I really honestly don't know what I'm doing. I wanted them to hatch, but given the circumstances, should I just eat them? I don't know how to tell if they are fertilized or not, however I did see them mating about a week ago. Any advice you can give, would be greatly appreciated.
I collected my turkeys eggs for a period of 14 days 2 weeks and all of them hatched out of 39 eggs all hatched in incubator I collected eggs from 3 turkeys for 2 weeks and was very successful. Then I let the hens keep any remaining eggs they laid and the eggs they sat on only 7 chicks hatched between the 3 hens and they fought and stole each other's chicks and fought all the while between the 3 hens so advice is to seperate hens from one another and let them tend to their own brood separately #lessonslearned gathering and Incubating turkey eggs is the most successful way of hatching them out if you are looking for maximum hatch rates. I have been keeping turkeys for 5+ years now and I'm not sure why turkey hens don't hatch eggs as well as incubator also some turkey moms are not smart and step squish etc their own babies! You really have to watch pay attention to the hens and you have to give them plenty of space you can't take a free range turkey then enclose them they will go cuckoo and hurt themselves i. Enclosures trying to get out they won't even lay or pay attention to eggs or chick if you wait until they are laying to enclose them.... best advice is to pen them in big enclosures before they start laying so they feel safe enough to lay within enclosures and that way you aren't looking for eggs like it's Easter everyday 😂 at least this has been my case in my world 😅fun times 🎉
I have a tom and 4 hens one hen is laying bur eggs aren't fertile now i know he is mating her because her back is all dirty.I put 5 eggs in the incubator and not one was fertile.

THANK YOU!! I was wondering when and how to go about this.
You eat the turkey eggs? I saw they were high in sodium? How do they taste as well as the texture?
Thurkey eggs are great for eating. They are wery helthy and have taste very similar as if not identical as chiken eggs
