Poor you. I’m laughing about kangaroo and I know it’s not funny at all. I’m sorry that it happened. Glad your safe and car was fine too.
Have the Simota intake on my Sportivo, can absolutely recommend and it does increase performance with the car breathing that much better 😍🤩🥰😎
Nice. How much louder is the intake sound over standard?
Hey. My Sportivo makes crazy crackling / relay clicking noises from the dash drivers side. Very random not all the time. Have you ever heard of this? more on initial start up and at traffic lights which is weird...It could be possessed might need a priest. nothing modified in dash apart from multimedia but noise was there before that upgrade.
Haha. Yep I know what it is but I don't know how to fix it. Look under the dash on the drivers side and you'll see a unit sitting behind the centre console where you fan controls are. It's the little white plastic knob thing that cracks and pops. You can wiggle it and it quietens down. Try spraying some lube around the area where it pivots.
they look really cool! what was the tire size and mags you used before? it also looked good. wanna do it with mine. thanks!
0:19
Previous mags were stock 16x6 sportivo wheels with 205/55/15 tyres. Rpf1's are 7 inches wide. With the same tyre size
is it silent for road noise ?
Not really. I've gone to a Michelin PS4 tyre which is noticeably quieter but it lacks the mid corner grip of the RE003's. I've done a review of them if you wish to check it out.
Where do you buy a tool like that or can you just use a butter knife? Thank you.
Most auto stores should sell them or online like ebay. They are a trim removal tool. It's best to buy a pack that'll contain various shaped items.
@@desirabledrives44 thank you.

Thanks. That was my old plate from memory
Here's a tip ... Stop playing that absolute Shite music and just review the fucking car.
Funny, my Sportivo was also missing its air filter but Toyota charged me for apparently replacing it!
So you got charged a handsome fee for no filter? I must admit that the fan works really well without it. I now have to have it on speed 2 instead of speed 1.
Love the orange accents w silver. Hated green lights lol

Hi mate good video. Where did you get the bulbs from? My Sportivo had this done when I bought it but it's not a solid red and sort of redish orange ha. My center console has a few scratches as well, any ideas on paint repairs. cheers
I got them from Ebay. The shop is called Brother2boy. I don't know the paint code for the interior silver but it looks similar to the 03/04 exterior silver. You could technically remove the electronics/buttons and mask up the clock/temp screens and respray it. A cheaper and quicker option is to buy a silver wrap.
Cheers for that.

Hey so I was wondering how much hp could the Sportivo handle since I've already made it weigh 970kg I was wondering whats the maximinium amount of hp it could handle I've also increased rigidity for it so if u could tell me!
Firstly what on earth did you remove to lose 290kg from the car? Depending on how deep your pockets are the chassis could easily handle double the power. If you were to seam weld the whole frame and weld in a full roll cage it could probably handle what turbo K swapped civics put out which is how much money you can throw at it.
@@desirabledrives44I Stripped out the entire back half of the sportivo to bare metal then with the trunk I got rid of it that alone I think got rid off umm 100kg? Plus The Additional boot which got rid of 10kg. Then after I got rid of all the unnecessary décor which got rid of the remaining 180kg's. I was thinking of putting 15k AUD into it I was thinking for a Celica engine Since they are basically the same and I could tune it to have around 370hp, then putting a strait pipe with the muffler removed instead of spending another 5k on it.
@Hity_GT7_Racing you should probably join 2zz owners group on FB. They have lots of members who race these engines. 370hp is achievable but not without forced induction. To do it properly will cost way more than $15k at a shop. If you know what you're doing you'll save thousands doing the work yourself. Best of luck.
thank you!@@desirabledrives44
My sister bought one of them new in 02. She gave it to me about 2018 with 250.000km and it drank a litre of oil every 150km. Had to pull the motor to decarbon the stuck in flush oil rings. Reringed and rod bearings, waterpump while at it, new clutch. Great car again. Never ever use mineral oil in those 1zzfe engines- full synthetic only!
Yeah those 1zz engines were known to use oil. Great cars otherwise
I’ve also got a 2006 SLK 350. The first thing people snidely ask is “How much did you have to pay for it?” I never answer them, but of course they offer their opinions. They’re always way over. It’s a great car to drive in Chicago. Small, light, gets up to speed very quickly, easy to maneuver and it turns heads wherever we go. I love it, and most importantly, my wife adores it. Enjoy your car, whatever it is.
I think that's the key. If you love whatever you can afford who cars. I'm still enjoying my 21 year old Corolla with 300k klms. I love Euro cars and if I had my pick I'd get the new RS3 hatch or the AMG A45s.
Loved this video! Recently bought my first car, an 03 sportivo. Looking to paint/wrap the car, because 20 years of paint fade is ugly😅. Any idea where I can buy some paint or good quality wrap?
Thanks mate. If you're doing either yourself places like auto stores can mix paint but if you want excellent advice plus paint go to an actual auto refinishing store. They'll have good quality equipment and advice. If you want good quality vinyl wrap most places that wrap cars will sell you a roll and you can see what it looks like in the flesh as opposed to a picture on-line. Paint will last longer but you have more flexibility with wrapping such as printing designs onto it etc. Let me know what you end up choosing.
Thanks Man I'm Getting A Sportivo And I Wanted It To Act Better Thanks man

I'm modding my tsport over time, latest is lower control arm poly bushes from PSB, noticeably better feel for £60 ,easy job to fit, just press in with a vice, well worth doing.
Sounds interesting. I'm reluctant to pull apart my front end to do anything like that because I'd need an alignment and I've found many tyre shops have trouble getting an alignment right. It hasn't had an alignment since 90k klm and it now 300k klm.
These tyres are not really a sensible comparison, they are quite different prices, re003 is a budget performance tyre
$100 difference between the full set. Yeah it's different but not substantial. The PS4 is in the same league as the RE003's imo. If the are in fact substantially better then for $25 extra per tyre it's a bargain. Thanks for your input.
Some nice touches there mate. Best of luck with finding that grill and getting the eyebrows to adhere properly. Carbon fibre mods will look great with that awesome colour. I got a rear spoiler mod with vents (to match the front and skirts) for my 03, bit hard to find now tho. Hope the centre console lighting goes well and isn't too fiddly. Thanks for update.
Worst-case is I make my own TRD grill from a stock factory one. For the eyebrows I'll use the lights that are coming off as the base for the mould. Covering them tightly with cling wrap will give a smooth backing. I may just do standard carbon fibre on the parts. I'll chat to the supplier and see what they recommend. I like those rear bar spoilers. Shame more people didn't get them fitted new. I've seen the console lights done and they look great.
Those short ram air intakes, end up sucking in hot air under the bonnet. If you touch your front strut brace you can see how warm it gets after a drive. A cold air intake that places the pod filter above the left fog light is what I have, but you have to watch out if it floods in your area. You can also add an air scoop behind the lower front grill that directs air from the lower front grill into the pod filter above the left fog light. It can be attached with cable ties.
Same here, can be a bit of an issue when 'carefully' driving though water. Cooler air down lower for sure tho.
Ok thanks. That was my original plan so I may revert to that.
@ch33psk8 I don't drive through flood water so it won't be an issue.
@@desirabledrives44 Safety first, know the feeling.
Yep pretty much what I want too
Well stay tuned. I've already ordered my first mod so with any luck it'll be here in a couple of weeks.
keep up these great videos man love watching little updates
Thanks.
The wife's just swapped to bridgestone turanzo all season 5s, lot's of grip and confidence when braking in cold damp conditions and they feel much safer on her audi tt . I'm staying with ps4 on my tsport not the best in the colder weather but great grip in the dry warmer conditions.
I think most performance tyres have pros and cons. Even 2 weeks ago when I went for a spirited mountain run on the RE003's they still didn't squeal around tight corners even though they had reached the minimum tread depth although I started to notice slight understeer. The PS4's seem to be quieter at 60kph too.
I’m thinking about Changing to ps4 after my re003s wear out too so will love to hear your thoughts down the line. Will also go from 195-205 finally
I will definitely let everyone know. You won't notice a massive difference in grip going to a 205 but they fill out the wheel arch a tiny bit more. I know I'm limited to specific performance road tyres on a 16 inch rim. I enquired about the Yokohama Neova but they tyre shop said they'd wear out very quickly. Even if the PS4's are great tyres I think I'll try a performance Yokohama next time.
It must just be the standard for Bridgestone, I had re003's on my turbo falcon, was such a fan of them that I got a set for my XR4 Fiesta, despite them putting 1 incorrect sized tyre on my falcon and them botching the alignment, damn thing still pulls to the left but I won't be going back and I've swapped back to pirellis 20x275 I've got the ps4's on my mustang, really don't rate them, especially when cold, they couldn't hold onto a job if their father owned the company, the Pirelli's are much better
I'm going to use that "couldn't hold onto a job" quote. That's funny. Thanks for the feedback on the PS4's. I've got a feeling you're driving a car with substantially more hp than my rubber band powered corolla. I can only give them a try and if they aren't for me I'll try another brand or model next time. It's a shame that companies no longer care about trying to retain customers as I would have happily kept using Bridgestone products for our cars.
What model of Pirelli tyre are you using?
At the moment, just the dragon sport, being from Victoria where if you are caught doing 2k's over the limit in a 60 zone they want to impound your vehicle, fine you half a weeks wage, give you 3 demerit points and imprison your eldest child, im limited to lower end speeds and working in the Dandenong Ranges, it's lower end speeds on winding roads that are wet 3/4 of the year with the occasional spirited exit from hairpin bends and from the lights and rolling through big sweeping 60kph corners without the need to brake while everyone else generally slows to 40, I've found the dragon sport are definitely good value for money, even while holding a big heavy falcon on the road. With exception of the 6 months I had the re003s on it, I've been using the pirelli for around 8 years and am only on my 2nd set of fronts and 3rd set of rears. Regarding the ps4s on the mustang, I find it telling that the m.y. prior to mine came from factory in Aus with Pirelli Pzero and a couple years later went back to Pirelli, having only come standard out here with the ps4s for 1 or maybe 2 years.
Good to see you back man. Good to see you have a topic to share again. I've been having selling Sportivo thoughts. Need inspiration ha.
That will ultimately be your decision to sell or keep but 2 weeks ago RX8 Jon and I swapped cars and it's the first time I've seen my car on the road since it's been finished. I don't want to blow my own trumpet and please don't take this the wrong way but I saw what other people see when I get nods and thumbs up from other motorists. These cars look fantastic on the road. They aren't a Civic like everyone else has that's been done to death a million times. I love the fact most people overlook these cars.
Ain't nobody got time for that! Please let us know how you get on with the PS4s.
I most definitely will. RX8 John raves about them. We swapped cars for a mountain run recently and I found the tyres to be quite good.
"Rather smash up" the 'flagship' Tivo? Where will that Yaris be in 20 years.🧐 The 05 sounds like a plan, it's great you're still so keen. Who knows maybe part with both Tivos eventually and get yourself a pocket rocket. Anyway probably be back sticking those VVTL-i decals on again before too long eh? I'm running the RE003 225/50s with coil overs and luvin them, so def interested in your take about the Michelins. Glad you voted with your feet and sorted the work thing, so many live on treadmills.
The Yaris is a highly strung little thing with lots of tech. If it got into a bingle and they "fixed it" I'd be reluctant to keep it purely based on the amount of dodgy repairs I've seen. What car do you have the RE003'S on? The 05 would only happen if the 03 gets sold and if I got a white 05 I'd probably attempt a vinyl wrap only because it's substantially quicker and easier than pulling a car apart to spray it.
I'm eagerly awaiting more info on a Mk4 MR2 or an 8th gen Celica or the GR86 with the G16E-GTS motor. Toyota have said they plan to use that 3 pot and drive line in numerous future models.
@@desirabledrives44 I 'squeezed' them on the factory rims (03 Tivo), they flare out a smidge, but with a little careful dolly work on the inner front guards, good to go. Tiny bit heavier at the wheel, but for mine the grip is just nice, both wet and dry. I got a back to metal respray in a tweaked metallic cascade blue, kicked the piss out of my wallet tho. But can, with some modesty say, Tivo's just look so schmick when you stay on the rails a bit. Really impressed (with subdued envy) your 03 colour choice, icing on the cake. Be interesting, if you get onto the 05, what colour you'll go with if you do make a change that is.
@ch33psk8 225's on a 6 inch rim? Dayuuum. I wanted 225's but they would have stuck out 10mm past the front guards which would have looked tough with flares but at my ride height I would have had crazy rubbing. As for colour choice I'm liking orange quite a bit. I saw the colour on a 1/18 scale 911 Porsche with bronze BBS wheels and it looked mint.
I went to go tune mine and they gotta open the ecu to pin it or get a standalone. Full exhaust, ported headers, intake and tune probably around $7500
WTF. I don't know about you but from memory a supercharger kit and power fc piggy back would be around that money. If I had $7500 to spend on the motor I'd try and shoehorn a 2grfe in that engine bay. If people can squeeze the engine into a mk1 MR2 I can't see how it wouldn't fit. What are your plans?
Here’s the update Darren

Is it true what some people say… first 10000s Ks they are fine.. after that they are terrible.. looking to purchase some as price for them are great
Mine are close to the minimum tread depth so I need to be careful driving in heavy rain but they still hold well in the dry. Obviously your car is more powerful so the results will differ but I'm still very happy with them at the price point. They have the Potenza Sport now in 17 inch and above. They are the flagship performance road tire now before you get into a dedicated track tyre.
