Tires go BOOM!
There is a lot of talk about China Bomb tires in the camper groups. I have a tire explode on my 2022 Forest River camper recently and wanted to share a bit of honest information on what happened. The Castle Rock tires that came on my camper were under inflated and had a 75 MPH speed rating. These 2 facts likely led to the tire exploding. I have purchased GoodYear Endurance tires to replace the Castle Rocks mostly due to the 87 MPH rating and will do a better job of maintaining proper pressures.

Replacing the AC compressor in my Mopar 11 Charger
Переглядів 9 тис.Рік тому
Continuing to improve my flood project Mopar 11 Dodge Charger. The AC compressor sounded horrible and a replacement was cheap enough to just go ahead and replace it. The job went much better than I expected!
My Mopar 11 Charger is ready to go!
Переглядів 365Рік тому
It’s been a fair amount of work to get to this point but I think it was worth it. First I had to remove the interior and the body harness. I then converted a harness from a Chrysler 300 to work with the Mopar 11 Charger, installed it, scrubbed the interior and reinstalled it, changed various electronic modules and more…
MOPAR 11 Charger Lives Again

I finally got the body harness all sorted out and installed. The engine sounds great and fired right up. Next up is to clean and install the interior.
Installing RWD wheels on an AWD Charger
Переглядів 2,8 тис.2 роки тому
Some say you can't put RWD wheels on an AWD Charger, that they won't fit, "Things" won't work. I have seen other people do this already so I thought I would give it a try as there are not many good options for the AWD cars. They look great! They do poke out a little in the front but I can live with it for sure.
Making a 2010 5.7 Hemi work in a 2011 Charger

I finally got the Charger put together enough for the first test drive! The long tube headers sound great and the 6.4 intake manifold seems to be working correctly.
Dodge Charger R/T engine replacement
Переглядів 20 тис.2 роки тому
I was able to buy a good running 2010 Charger R/T from Copart for $1700 including fees. In this video I remove the engine from the donor car and install it into the 2011 Charger with long tube headers and a 6.4 intake manifold. Along the way I discovered some differences between the 2010 and 2011 engine that might be helpful to others.
Finding an engine for my 2011 Charger R/T project
Переглядів 1,7 тис.2 роки тому
The 6.4 Hemi engine in my Charger project was damaged worse than I had hoped. Plan B was to drop in a 5.7 Hemi which is what belongs in the car anyway. 5.7 engines are much harder to find and a lot more expensive than I was expecting making it cheaper to just buy a complete donor car. I was able to score a good deal at Copart and now am ready to begin the transplant.
Dragged home a 2011 Charger R/T
Переглядів 3272 роки тому
I was looking to get an inexpensive Hemi Charger/Challenger or 300 to fix up. I sold the 300C I recently repaired and wanted a new project. I saw this abomination on FB and figured I would rescue it as it was in bad need of some love. In this video you will see that it needs a new engine or possibly to be bored out and rebuilt, haven’t decided on the direction I want to go just yet.

Question? I have used a single stage paint on my 1980 trans am and I have started working on working on the paint. It is not doing anything after I sand and polish. It looks bad. What am I doing wrong?
O got 2009 335i 3.0 engine same issues l will change engine soon l don’t know what happen to bmw Best generation to me 2000 to 2005
very good video!!! EVERYTHING was described very, good progression to the following stages.
@@johncherry8789 Thank you, I appreciate it!
I’m looking at a 2011 charger 5.7 and I have a 2010 charger, so all i would have to do is change out the timing cover, then take out the pulley and change the power steering pump location to the 2010 location
@@jspike9208 Yeah I think that’s about it
@ okay thanks that’s all i needed to know
Awesome stuff man. My wife has a 2010 3.5 charger and the compressor is not engaging. It spins easily when I turn it with my hand. I’m going to take it somewhere to see if it needs a recharge. If the compressor turns out to be bad, this video will be my guide.
Can i use 1000 grit with the DA? Why do you sand it by hand. Thanks
@Surethang1 You could but it’s super risky. You risk breaking through the paint or clear very easily with a DA. A block by hand is used to get a very flat surface and allows you the control to remove only the necessary amount of material while avoiding areas like edges.
Stop revving it dude 😭. You have to turn the ignition on and off. Turn it on, let it idle for a minute, turn it off, repeat. do this about 10 times.
I used paint like that on equipment and I learned to just dust the first coat let it get really good tack and then cover and you wouldn't get runs
AWESOME JOB!!
Looks mint! Well done!

Great job..thanks for the tips..love the video😮
Thanks always nice to watch someone that knows what they’re doing.
I know this is an old video, but hope you may respond. What wax or paint protection did you apply to this fresh polish job after you were done? I have an 89 mustang that has been repainted about 10 years ago, have cut and polished twice now but the paint returns to an oxidized look after about 6 months on the hood, roof and trunk, even when garage kept. Looking for the right dressing to use on my car after the next polish to prevent the oxidation from happening.
Honestly it’s probably time for new paint. That said knowing how expensive that can be I once read about a spray on fix for tractors. I am sorry I can’t recall the paint restoration name. This is a common problem in old tractor paint because they don’t put in uv protection. In the price of a paint job a really good paint is a small part of the bill. I like ppg. I have had good luck in the past with Martin Senior. Now if you have ever seen a used car lot clear over oxidized paint it will last longer than your buff did but it looks bad when it lifts off. Hope that helps. It’s really time for new paint when oxidation starts
@@joecliffordson thanks for your reply. my parents were the ones who had it painted, and had a local "budget" guy to do the job. I'm sure it was not a quality paint that was applied and I know for sure it was a single stage paint. I've seriously considered trying to do a repaint paint myself. I'm a pretty handy guy around the shop and thing I could at least do better than the last guy. "Don't be scared of it, it's just paint" right??
@ I remember my old paint books from the 80s said it’s all in the details. UA-cam wasn’t around when I started. I finally hired a guy to show me the trade in my shop. Non the less starting on a junker should cover the cost of education. If your skin is thick you could even take your licks on UA-cam. A lot of the experience is patterns of shooting and habits of keeping your paint flowing. While avoiding overspray. Base clear is much more forgiving because your clear is dust free in 15 minutes if you don’t have a booth. Proper sanding and primer techniques are the main time consuming activity. It’s not just paint it is huge chunks of time too. That’s why my stuff is all dull and old and my customers are shiny.
This is great for learning about my car. Big appreciation
Looks pretty good..I think u just moved alil to slow spraying it
How long for the job?
@@mattyq9130 Probably 3 hours or so for the first time assuming everything goes well.
ALOT OF WORK BUT CAME OUT GREAT
@@sbuzz5889 Thank you
Love it! My dad also owned a '68 Sport Fury (Marine Blue). I learned to drive in that beast. Still surrounded by MOPAR lovers today. Awesome machine! 👍🏻
My favorite 3/8 impact. Pulling an engine on a 2010 challenger rt soon, hoping this is basically the same haha
@@stechmer1 It’s pretty much the same, good luck!
I dnt think u should buff or polish flat.. that's why u hear that thumping noise. I was brought up using the pads more on the edge...my opnion
Why is the pad blue? Isn’t that paining and you only want to treat clear coat?
@@2old4Thiz It’s single stage paint.
I have a 2014 charger rt it got a brand new 5.7 hemi and the new hemi “blew out “ now there putting mother brand new hemi in it cause the warranty what could be the cause man.
Do you think 275's would fit?
yea i cant tell from the camera it just looks like a lighter shade of blue
Did you have a exhaust fan running? I used a Turbo low presure gun and it said that it was a low overspray gun, It was really foggy in my shop when i sprayed it. I started out good but then ran into some runs, then had some flies land in it, a real bummer.,
@@TheChicagoSchwinns Yeah I had a pretty good exhaust fan running but I had so much over spray in the air it was crazy.
Maybe lighter coats
Try using a fast activator with a slow reducer.
Seems like when you used the DA You had it stalled the whole time? To much pressure. Correct me if I wrong.
@@badass1g no not too much pressure, that’s just the compound working and having the speed a little low. I apply almost no pressure at all.
might be the vacuum pump
I would love to see how it came along, any recent news ?
Yep. Did this back in 2015.
I’m not a huge fan of metallic paint but I do like single stage paint and you made it look really good. The fact that you did metallic with single stage is even more impressive. Very well done.
@@Genx4 Thank you
Aside from mentioning that you cleaned up all the ground connections up early in your video and you didn't really make any mention later in the video as possible solution to the immobilizer problem, Personally I do believe that computerized systems need Very good grounding consistently. Have you had any recollection's regarding that as a likely fix to the immobilizer issue? Very good video...
Is the Mopar 11 reliable? I'm looking at one right now, but I've heard that 2011 Chargers had many electrical problems, among other issues.
@@Garuda1_talisman I may be biased but I think it’s very reliable.
Awesome video! Very informative, thank you!!
Did you spray any clear coat on this ?
Good video. Im 56 years old recently semi retired (cabinet maker) and I'm about to paint the first vehicle ever . Im using the same paint but in a lime green on a 1986 GMC crew cab that my Grandad bought at auction in 1997. I had a fair amount of body work to do. Mostly rocker panels, which I made myself from a couple fenders out of a scrap yard. Far from perfect but passable for me which is really all that matters as i will keep this truck for the rest of my life. Conversationally, my daily driver and it has been for the better part of 10 years now is a 76' K2500 which also came from Grandad. That one he gave me while he was still alive, and is the standard cab, both are standard transmission. It also will soon get paint but the body is pristine
😂😂😂
I know this is a year old… but as someone already said, buffing single stage metallic disturbs the metallic. You may get “shine” but if you’re working on something other than a work truck, you need to use BC CC. Newbies will have find bccc will produce better results.
Thank you brother, I believe you just saved me about 1,400 bucks. Good video!
Thanks for the video my paint job has alot of fisheyes. I was told to do wet sand, cut and buff then polished. Glad to see this video because i dont have any experience of polishing wise. This video will helped do mine soon!
You dont need to rflash anything...just use the n52 long block, the car doesn't know the difference...
Say...could you throw up a p/n or dims for the oring, please? You can provably buy a bag of a hundred from McMaster Carr for $6...
Just had to fix my other cylinder too. So an update is that both o rings will probably go around the same time and it's a good idea to do both if one goes. The hydraulic fluid is expensive and you will lose a lot every time you have this issue. Better to save a few bucks and the time ripping the truck apart again to fill the fluid and just do them both.
Nice color.
Blowing hot air
Was your air blowing hot before replacing?
Hey i have the same engine ! same car basically. Is it still working ??? mine is
Yeah great job but you didn't show all your prep work missing out what sanding you did wet or dry what grit grade did you use no info on priming and painting technique
