Приєднався 24 лют 2021
Welcome to 1Giant's Garage! I started this channel because I run into things I don't know how to do all the time so I go looking for answers. At the same time I have people ask me how to do things that seem easy to me. So, I decided to start my own channel. I am no professional videographer, nor am I politically correct. I can be vulgar or rambling. Check out my videos, have some fun, leave me a comment if there's something specific you want to see with my projects.
Testing My New Evolution Metal Chop Saw

Bauer High Torque 20V ½" Impact Wrench Running on Dewalt 20V Max Battery Test
Переглядів 6 тис.9 місяців тому
Just wanted to drop a quick video sharing how well the Bauer ½" impact works with the Dewalt batteries. This bad lad is totally worth it. Was $100 with the parking lot sale this weekend at HF. Even if you use the Bauer batteries like it was designed for (🤣🤣🤣) this thing is a solid deal. Zipped off the skid loader lugnuts like they weren't even there!
Adding Battery Maintainer, Power Splitter & Jumper Cable QD to 2003 Ford Superduty
Переглядів 1079 місяців тому
I added a flush mounted power splitter, battery maintainer and jumper cable quick disconnect to the Two Pig tow pig. Now when I plug the truck in it fires up the block heater and a 1.5 amp battery maintainer. Truck is a 2003 Ford F-450 with a 7.3L diesel but will work similarly on any of the Superduties.
Converting Bauer 20V Cordless Grease Gun to run on Dewalt 20V Batteries
Переглядів 1,5 тис.9 місяців тому
I converted my Bauer 20V Hypermax Cordless Gtease Gun (Item #58608) to run on standard Dewalt 20V batteries since that's what all my tools use. This modification INSTANTLY voids your warranty. This video is for entertainment purposes only. Attempt this fun at your own risk!

Replacing Bobtach Latches on Dirt Diggler- Bobcat 843

A video on replacing the Bobtach latches on my Bobcat 843 (Dirt Diggler). Super easy and straight forward process. Bolt everything together on the bench, put the nylon glide inserts in, put new latch assembly in, bolt down, find out it's not adjusted right, unbolt assemnly, pull back out, adjust, slide back in, wait, can't, nylon buffers fell out, take back out, use 19 arms to hold both tiny pi...

Shifting a 13 Sp

Wanted to show the difference between running a 13 sp through the gears with and without a load. My normal truck is an 18 sp which is the same general philosophy only you can split the 5 bottom gears as well if you need to.

CRASH!

Mobile Home Tires and Axles On Trailers

Mobile Home Tires and Axles On Trailers
I read somewhere that a guy swapped out those tires and was able to use a regular trick tire somehow. It wouod be great to get my trailer tires swapped oit to something easily avaipable lile a 26" rim truck tire. Any idea what the guyay have done to allow for that? Mayne it was a 15" rim🤔
Thank you so much
Super helpful. Thank you!
where can I go to see how to adjust the side linkage? It's called rear traction deck adjustment?
Are you tightening or loosening
He is doing lefty loosy and righty tighty.
Does anyone know if there's only a 6inch wide wheel for these. I just bought an older triaxle goosneck with 9 14.5 on it. And the wheel looks wider than a 6. I. Looking to buy some spare wheels and tires for it. Cant seem to find and 9s on wheels. Like the 8s.
@davidtipton7234 I have never seen a wider or custom wheel for these axles. They might be out there, though.
@@1giantsgarage918 thanks. I was looking for the 9 14.5 already mounted. But can't seem to find any. So I guess I'll order 2 tires and 2 of the 6 inch wheels. It came with 2 spares but they are alot smaller and have the mh on em. It'll only get used a couple times a year to move hay and my backhoe. So really don't see the money in converting it.
I had that happen on the road on a tandem enclosed trailer. A tralier vendor I found localy flipped it back for me. Then I got home and noticed that the equalizer on that side was crooked. The axle centers are 1.25 inches further apart on the side that flipped than the other side. It's supposed to be within 1/4". Something is bent or twisted, although without jacking it up yet, everything looks okay. Go figure.
Doing this now… went to 3 places for brakes, searched internet before finding out I need to weld a new flange on the axles to put new brakes on. Thanks for this.
Did you find where to buy the flanges?
Do you know where I could locate the inner grease seal? I can't find the proper size anywhere
Have you tried northern tool?
Thanks buddy. I appreciate this video. Are your axles from a mobile?
I believe so. Best evidence for that I've seen so far is the welded on brakes. Dayton style "lowboy" axles typically came with the bolt on backers. I'll upgrade these someday, lol. Thanks for watching.
Nice overview. Although I'm disgusted at the thought of facing such a setup, the old clean/paint/lubricate routine will be facilitated by the memory of your setup
I've got this impact. It does fine with the Baur battery. Pretty strong impact.
I don't doubt it. This thing's been great!
@@1giantsgarage918 If ya don't turn it down it may snap bolts. Mine did tightening a bolt.
Thanks for this video, where do you prrchase the weld on brake kits for these?
I found some on eBay, seems to be the easiest. There are some trailer parts places too that could order them for you.
I am impressed you referenced the manual, mine get tossed over my left shoulder for luck.
Good video, but audio probably could be better. Use some cheap microphone, it would help.
Part of it is my throat was damaged severely a couple weeks ago so my speech is not where it should be. I'm gonna try on my next video to do one of the computer voice overs until I have a chance to heal up. Good idea with the mic too. I do have a lapel (sp?) mic I use when we do paranormal investigations. I'll give it a try for my garage stuff too. If I can sneak it out while my wife's not looking! 🤣🤣🤣
Does that have an adapter for the battery or is it just compatible with dewalt off the shelf like that?
No adapter but you have to open up the tool and do a couple quick mods inside. Also some trimming of plastic on the tool itself.
What mods inside? Mine has three wires going to the battery. Some other tools just require relocating the ground. This one is different. Wish you would have done a video on it.
They make adapters too on Amazon for like 20 bucks
Ok I'll be keeping this in mind! Thanks for sharing!!!
Very Helpful. Can you get a new brake setup and keep your mobile home drums and tires?
Yes what's the link to purchase the kit and would really like to see how you replace the pivot bolt you didn't replace. One of mine is broken . Will definitely try to find that place to order that kit. Thanks
www.ebay.com/itm/222198477322?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=jnxBCZd-TxG&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=9b9tkpgCSfK&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
I did end up breaking off one of the pivot bolts but I ended up welding it back in. Not sure on the process of replacing them properly. Would be a good idea though.
I found the same kit on Amazon. I'll figure out the best way to replace the pivot bolts soon thanks for your reply.
What makes these wheels dangerous are the way they are mounted to the hub with clamps. If not mounted and tightened properly The whole wheel can come off. How do I know this? It happened to me I had a wheel come loose that wasn’t tightened properly, when it came off the axle, it lifted my whole equipment trailer up loaded with a skid steer and rolled out in traffic. Luckily I didn’t hit any cars.
Nice!
Any other videos on the Bunton? Thanks
I do not. The thing puked the rod out of the motor the first time I used it, lol.
Great explanation. What PSI do you recommend or do you use?
I always use whatever the listed max psi is. My new tires are 115 psi. I have others that are 80 psi. Rides bouncier but keeps excess heat from building up.
Your ugly jack there is one leg off the landing gear of a semi trailer.
I lucked out. I have that same style but with C clips that hold the shoes on. So i had the shoes relined and shes good as new!
Nice, that's a great score!
@1giantsgarage918 Question for you. Are the swing arms the same left to right? Seems I have 2 right sided arms. One brake works great and the other won't grip hard enough to stop as good. However, that wheel works fine in reverse so I'm assuming the arm is wrong!
@@kentkirkpatrick7953the arms are different for left and right sides. The actuating arm should be on the front side of the assembly (direction of travel), not on the rear. If you have that, it is on the wrong side.
So if the trailer i bought has hubs with lugs in it and cane with 14.5 tires at 6 lug 5.5 bolt pattern then am I correct in assuming that that would be Highway safe and not just a mobile home rated axle. My main concern is safety on the road and not having issues of course
Sounds like you have a standard 5,200# axle. If maintained properly it should be just fine. Also there are no "Mobile Home Only" rated axles. That designation is only applied to certain tires manufactured just for the moving of mobile homes and will be clearly marked on the side. They are essentially cheaper constructed, lower weight rated tires.
I have heard that the axles are not made to go over 50 miles an hour which means they will heat up. Dangerous!?!?!
That is not true at all. Even the "houses" themselves run 60-65 mph all day long in transport to and from their sites. Companoes will reuse the same axles under dozens of homes before retiring them. These axles use standard bearings and perform just as well as any other comparible trailer axle when maintained properly.
do the servos have something to do with remote driving. when operating the backhoe attachment ?
whats the link where u purchased this?
www.ebay.com/itm/222198477322?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=jnxBCZd-TxG&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=9b9tkpgCSfK&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
Thankz!
Hello, have you ever replaced the gas cap? if so, what is part number fit or equivalent? Original part # is no longer available.
Any experience mounting the tire to the rim? Anything different than a regular tire/rim combo?
Not really, that part is basically the same.
@@1giantsgarage918 thanks man
love the kitty! 😍
Where do you find these tires?
I got mine off of eBay but any good tire shop can order them for you.
Thank, you for you're video I want to see you're video on these axles.
Thank you SO MUCH! I just bought a gooseneck just like this one. No idea what I am doing. This really helped.
lol.. about to do the same. how did it work out?
IM. GOING TO SHAIRE YOURE VIDEO WITH DOT.
THE, DOT RATED TIRE. WHAT IS THE DATE OF THE TIRE WAS MADE = DATE.
I'm not sure the date of that tire. The 4 digit date code will tell you for sure. Usually first two indicate the week it was made and the last two will indicate the year. For example 1322 would be a tire made between March 20-26, 2022.
Thanks, I don't realize the date codes were that simple!
I've heard that bs about them being illegal for years its not true. Hell years ago my dad had a factory built low boy that had the 8 - 14.5 there not popular but there legal
Hi i have similar machine. Have some questions ...how could I contact u sir?
I have a question, the two wires at back of break axel, connected to magnet. Is one a ground wire and other hot I'm assuming?
That's correct and as I recall it doesn't matter which you use as which.
What if the trailer was originally a mobile home frame?
If it has been converted to say a flatbed, by definition it is no longer a mobile home, "technically." With that being said I've never had a police officer check mine. I have one on my trailer still a MH use only tire. If it's all you have it'll work. Just remember they are not rated as heavy as "low boy" tires.
Im having a hard time removing the hub should i just keep smaking it with the hammer
Think
Best place to order tires?
I ordered mine off of eBay. Seller was ecustomhitch. They've gone up from $175 a pair when I ordered mine to $231 now but I'm happy with them.
What what are those axles rated at? I just got a home made one that has 2 mobile home axles with 5 lug axles and the guy told me they are 10k axles idk if that’s right?
That's correct as long as it has the 4" tube, it should be 5,200#'s each axle for 10,400#'s.
Also, check your tires. It should have the 14.5-7 (common) or 14.5-8 (preferred). If it has the 14.5-6 (less common) they won't hold as much weight since those are generally only 1,500# tires.
@@1giantsgarage918 ok, thank you!
REALLY good information. Do these axles always have a certain weight rating ?
Most of them are broken into two sizes. 3" axle tube is usually 3,500# and the 4" axle tube is usually 5,200#.
Many thanks for the video! Excellent, brief, and to the point.
what if my mobile home does not have wheels or axles. Will the movers supply them????
I don't know. This is about MH axles being used for trailers. You would have to contact your movers.
thank you for all the informations
Good video with no bullshit.
