I documented the process of making smelt ice-fishing sticks. Much better than the small rods where we fish. Also easier to pack & carry.

    If you take out your silencer and baffle out of the exhaust you will notice a big sound difference and power difference

      I was under the impression having some baffling was helpful for low end power. I'd try it out if I still had the EX, it was a great machine! Cheers

    How much did it cost in material to make? Can I make one for double garage? Any plan idea to share how to?

    • @LegacyCraftworks
      @LegacyCraftworks 2 місяці тому

      You can probably make one for a double garage but I would suggest more than 2 panels if you plan on having a section that opens. I can’t remember the cost, but I have a few of the items listed in the video description. No plans, but it’s not too complicated if you measure your door and make a drawing of what you need. Thanks for your comment 😊

    Love this design and this great tutorial. VERY helpful. I do have a question. Did you use anything to "line" the bolt holes for the barrel bolts? was thinking how to waterproof the holes and still have useful access. Thanks.

    • @LegacyCraftworks
      @LegacyCraftworks 3 місяці тому

      I just pulled the barrel bolts and let them hit where they should go in. That marked the frame and allowed me to drill the holes in the correct area. The holes don’t go through completely, and my trim is made if PVC so I wasn’t worried about rotting or sealing. You might be able to use plastic plugs if your door frame is made of wood? Thanks for your kind words!

    I need to build something similar. When you are feeding in a longer, heavier piece to rip, how do you keep the front end from tipping downward under the weight? Does it need to be clamped to the installed fence? Thx,

    • @LegacyCraftworks
      @LegacyCraftworks 3 місяці тому

      I’m not putting a whole lot of weight, I use it more to help with my left to right alignment on longer strips. As it is now, it would definitely not hold a sheet of plywood. I’m unsure how I would attach it, I’d be scared to squeeze/distort the aluminium square tubes… holes would probably be best, but that’s quite permanent.

    Out of curiosity, I was intrigued when saw you did the hinge in the middle. I am new at this kind of thing, so wondered if you could help me with the why 😊 Also, how is it holding up years later and/or did you make any changes to how it’s built? I made a baby gate height one last year and well, it wasn’t the prettiest but it worked. Since it was on the inside of the garage, I put small wheels on it so it could be opened when coming in and out for gardening/mowing. This year my kitties aren’t little so they will leap right over that one. The rebuild begins 😅 Thank you for this video sooo much! Finally one that doesn’t require sewing…. I stink at anything that requires sewing 😂

    • @LegacyCraftworks
      @LegacyCraftworks 3 місяці тому

      Sorry for the late reply. It held up pretty good, but I always store it inside the garage during winter, so it’s not exposed to constant snow/slush. I haven’t had to change anything yet, and the hinges still work. The support screw on the bottom is very important though, because it holds it firmly in place 👍

      The o-ring that he applied the lube to, doesn't move so I can't see how this will fix anything. I have the same faucets and it's ALWAYS the hot one that squeaks...I think it has to do with the expansion of parts, binding against each other since they're just cheap plastic. By dismantling the spindle (the part that actually turns) and lubing the stem, I was able to resolve this squeaking for about 5 minutes. Time to get a set of faucets with brass cartridges.

    Really interesting contraption, dude! Great work! 😃 Here where I live (Brazil) it's pretty hot and it's a beach city. What I used to do a lot when I was a kid is to use a beer can. We would put lots of fishing line around it, so we could throw the bait far using a weight... You know? But I really never see something like that. It should work great! 😃 Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊

    • @LegacyCraftworks
      @LegacyCraftworks 8 місяців тому

      That sounds fun! Here when we're ice fishing; the water below is only 3 to 4 feet deep (1m) and you're just moving the lure up and down to attract the fish. The line is so short it doesn't make any sense to use a fishing rod; or anything too complicated. The shorter the better, because then you can lean over and see the fish swimming in the hole. Have a great day my friend!

    • @LegacyCraftworks

    Di you mean to say/say, that the original Paulk Workbench used 1/2" ply? I never heard him say that. He is often asked whether one could make it out of !/2", and he says that possibly everything other than the top could be made of 1/2". Maybe after all these years, he has decided against 1/2", but still, a lot of people who maybe don't bang it around in a trailer, or work full time, or can't carry the heavy bench, or get the light ply, would like to build one in a lighter build. Can you confirm, or check whether his plans for the plywood recommendations, please? What parts did he use 1/2" on? I did buy 7 of his plans, but I didn't see anything about building in 1/2" as they are all pretty up to date.

    • @LegacyCraftworks
      @LegacyCraftworks 8 місяців тому

      Hi there, on my plans (Paul Workbench II) the material specifies "(5) 48" x 96" Sheet ½" A/C Ply". That includes the tops, bottoms, sides and legs. Maybe my plans are older and he later decided against it? I know my 3/4" MDF is quite heavy, even if I went to 6' long instead of 8'. Hope this helps!

    Hey, I decided to film the process after draining the oil; hopefully the bottle trick is worth your time. It's a lot easier than removing all the plastic guards because those flimsy clips and rusted screws tend to break. Please check the video description for product links, and thanks for watching!

    Thanks for the Video. However, I strongly suggest you read the instructions and learn the tool before doing a video showing how to do it wrong. Even your the final way of doing this was not ideal.
