Return to Newcastle
Переглядів 2521 день тому
To Return is to See it for the First Time Another weekend visit to Newcastle NSW to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and once again, Newy did not disappoint. Mother Nature provided a smorgasbord of experiences, from Rain, Sunshine, High Tides and Dolphins enjoying the surf - and of course, Tankers and Tug Boats hit the spot every time. Lion Island Revisited

Second visit to Lion Island off Pearl Beach. I was trying to capture more of the other side of Lion Island, with the beach, but kept losing signal if I flew too low.
Hawkesbury River to Gosford Picnic Train

A couple of small clips of The Picnic Train in December 2023 running from Hawkesbury River to Gosford. The lack od steam and whistle were disappointing for the folks lining the route.

Last Train out of Darlo
Переглядів 3008 місяців тому
Travelled back to England to see family and visited the Flying Scotsman at Keighley & Worth Valley Railway Museum for the centenary celebrations. Imagine my surprise, when the Steam Train also in action, was built in my home town of Darlington, presumably at North Road Shops.
Pearl Beach to Lion Island
Переглядів 319 місяців тому
An opportunity to get up close and personal, albeit via Drone, to the wonderful Lion Island, sat off shore from Pearl Beach. Lion Island is located at the mouth to the Hawkesbury River in Broken Bay on the Central Coast of the state of New South Wales, Australia. Lion Island contains the largest population of Australian little penguins in the Sydney area - not that you'll see any in this video.
Picnic Train - Dungog - Maitland - Dungog - October 2023

Spent an awesome morning chasing the Picnic Train between Maitland, Paterson and Oakhampton. We were unable to get to the railway bridge across the Hunter River as the housing estate has grown compared to Google Maps - but we tracked around to Oakhampton and tried from the railway crossing. Paterson Railway Bridge was a much easier experience - there is even a car park next to the bridge - with...
Coffs Harbour & Surrounds
Переглядів 14Рік тому
Spent a week in Coffs Harbour - the harbour itself was quite spectacular but the proximity to the airport reduce capabilities to a minimum, anywhere along the coast. However, I abided by the regulations and still managed to enjoy the experience. Coffs Harbour's economy was once based on timber and agriculture. Over recent decades, tourism has become an increasingly important industry for the ci...

Bogey Hole Blues
Переглядів 4Рік тому
Another visit to Newcastle's famous Bogey Hole - the private swimming pool built by convict labour for Lieutenant-Colonel James Thomas Morisset, back in 1820. It was a grey and miserable morning, but still great to be out with the DJI at a favourite place in NSW. Music: Free Music Archive - Jahzarr - Flying, Art of Flying - a.piano #4
Cathedral Rocks - Kiama, NSW - January 2022

Once more into The Cathedral - an iconic location on the outskirts of Kiama, NSW. The sunrise was full of promise but never reached the wow factor - still it was a lovely morning to be on the beach, climbing rocks and flying my drone. Music by: bensound.com - "Sweet"

The Stream from Cascade Falls

The walk to the Cascade Falls follows the subsequent stream, so this was an opportunity to capture some video - quite a few obstacles so it was not as smooth as I had hope :-( The ambient sounds and bird calls are quite hypnotic so turn up the volume!

nice drone piloting mate.
❤😮🆒💯🤔 FANTASTIC JOB DONE 👍✅
I live in Kent and am lucky enough to see and hear spitfires flying over quite frequently , no mistaking that sound, wonderful
I just did this yesterday. ua-cam.com/video/POAI98dvhAI/v-deo.html
I think I remember that his party piece was to come over the boundary fence of the airfield, flat out down the runway and then begin his display. I watched him practise before the display at RAF Colerne and was rewarded with my waving to a very slow pass down the runway, flaps and u/c down and RH waving from the cockpit. A very lucky moment for me .
Real men flew these not mamby, pamby lady boys who are terrified of everything, especially women!
Ray didn't so much fly a Spitfire as once he climbed into a Spitfire he became one with aircraft...
Boy, that made me smile. I envy the guys who were privileged to fly those machines, and greatly admire the way they did.
A bad-ass machine like the Spitfire has a mind all its own.
Winston, a few miles away from where I live - visited many times. 😁👍🏼
RIP Ray Hanna - a true master pilot from an old RAF comrade. HIGH FLIGHT Ray show the Angels how its done!
Airplane!
I went to a house party, next day the "chaps" from RAF St Mawgan took me to his workshop it was like your bedroom with airfix models.... but full size. My real treat however later in the day was a spin in the twin seat Spit, but although being dressed for the occasion an oil leak stopped my flight. Sad day and much sadder when I heard he died.
Balls
proof kiwis can fly
greetings- Wow, gorgeous . catch you later, dear. 👐
There's just something about the spitfire that makes the hairs stand up on the back of your neck
Amazing video!
Thanks Caio 👍
Awesome. And my Granddad. I'm 70
At long last, thargs of m e r l I n s , without benefit of orchestral accompaniment, or sergeant major bellowing into a 500 watt amplifier!
God bless your dad .and what balls to fly under that bridge
Check out the engine couling, as it passes under the bridge. Not the same aircraft. Most likely a kit plane called a Twister, which has an elliptical wing and looks just like a spitfire, just smaller. Still a great piece of flying though.
Absolutely phenomenal!! Bravo!!
God Bless Ray Hanna. This superb video is indeed a dream....and to think machines and men so beautiful had to be created by something as ugly as war.
Absolutely sensational. The sound of the RR Merlin & the Stunt 😀 & victory roll after . 👏👏
NOW!!!! that's what you call flying. 👍👍👍😉 AWESOME!!! I absolutely ❤💓💕 the Rolls Royce Merlin engine it simply purrs never roars. 👍😉 & that victory roll has got to be the highlight of a spitfires flight.
just takes me back to my childhood south wales coal valleys and my dad who flys RC models great days ...excellent mate
My dad was a WWII spitfire pilot. He would talk of flying under a bridge…could it be. Where would they have been stationed and i can look up if he was stationed near there. He said a sentry was posted on the bridge to get the planes tag if they went under the bridge…and they would be punished. He certainly was a dare devil. At the end of the war they were running out of refreshments and so he flew a plane, he had never flown before to germany. They arrested him when landing, and sent “refreshments” back home with him. His commander swore he would never get a commission…. He was a small town boy and after the war he just wanted a simple life. I dont think he ever flew again.
What do u mean by refreshments im confused
Insane .....but smile!!!!
the Victory roll was a nice touch ! thanks Ray !
My two favourite WWII fighter planes - the Spitfire and P-51 Mustang.
Just beautiful flying, thanks
This amazing piece of flying was performed for the tv series “A Piece of Cake” by the legendary Squadron Leader Ray Hanna. It was originally going to be put together with editing but Ray said he would do it for real! There was around 3 feet between the aircraft and the river and between the wingtips and the bridge!! On one occasion Ray displayed at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, the crowd expected a display above them, not Ray he flew the Spit at full throttle over the start/finish line at zero feet below the top of the grandstand!! Much missed with Mark now RIP both!
Haha my Dad always said, you can break the Rules but you can not break the Laws (of Physics). If you are going to break the Rules, break them properly; ie., if you are going to fly under the Bridge, do not not fly under the Bridge. :-)
Yes it was the Goodwood Revival first year and as part of the official Friday opening where Lord March drove his fathers Earl's Court Car, possibly a Bristol? Ray indeed came around just as the car crossed the start finish line he too crossed the line going counter clockwise at about twenty feet above the track an bang on between the stands an grandstand I guess at a 100 to 150 mph seamed unbelievable at the time I was stood on the bank just before Madjwick so got a good view, it rather set up the high octane day brilliantly. What a noise what a scene, cheers Ray superb Cheers to all.
3 feet at the bridge eh? You must have a different form of measuring from the rest of the known world…… 0 ft below the grandstand 🤷♂️🤦🏼♂️ clown
Now ‘that’s’ flying!
Thanks for this really well constructed piece. RIP to your Dad.
Never has so much been owed by so many to so few…….
1:23 How good is this shot!
I was a local Paramedic on duty when Ray flew his "Piece of Cake"...thank goodness, surplus to requirement! Later, viewing the bridge from about 1000ft, I was aghast at the bottle which must have been a minimum requirement.
What a Great Video,,, What a Great Dad,,,, ... I See "Foyle's War" ,,,,The TV Series Was Mentioned In Later Posts,,, This Is a Great Crime/War Series,,, NOT TO BE MISSED.... Christopher Foyle Is "Detective Chief Superintendent", Played By,,, Michael Kitchen... Like James Arness In "Gunsmoke" As "Matt Dillon,,,, US Marshall".... Thank you for the great feedback and comments on Foyle's War - definitely not to be missed!
🔆🎼;)
Thank you
I believe that I heard the Voice of God in those engines.
Nicely flown and edited. I fly a MA2 myself, and just posted a similar video of Crowdy Head Lighthouse!
Thank you for the lovely feedback 😎
Great footage mate. Sub 97. Well done. 😃👍. Our home town - ua-cam.com/video/dHVo-KE7524/v-deo.html 😃
Thanks - love yours too!!!
@@MichaelBaldwinPhotography17 Thanks mate. We live in a beautiful part of the world. 😃👍
So cool gave me goosebumps
There was a Spitfire Bridge over the A30 near Winchester. What better reason for the Philistines and money grubbers to demolish it, being the iconoclastic, history deniers that they are. Spitfires, Merlins and Dakotas just do it for me. I saw Ray Hanna fly, and met Neil Williams up at Blackbushe. I am fortunate to have been around when it was all happening and I had access to it. As for the Spitfire Bridge… God! They were bloody good at what they did. For us.
Incredible !!!
Subscribe my Second Air military channal
Wish I had been on the bridge when the Spitfire flew under it? Hope the pilots co never found out if it was a real wartime exploit??
Tally Ho,!! Chaps. No escort, so help your self,, Roger Red leader!!
