First race on the YZ250, rode so stiff this first test and was afraid of the throttle in the roots.

NOT a great start! 2021 Sandlapper Dual Sport
Dude ,great ride had one and loved it.Those super fast riders that passed you are from another planet!!
How would you say parts availability is for the E series KDX's? I am looking for one right now and wanted to get the 95-06 model, but one popped up for a decent price that is an '89. I just worry about parts availability since I already struggle with that for my DRZ250
It's not so so bad that I've found. Jeff Fredette Racing is a good resource, but partzilla or something similar usually has what I need. The occasional ebay browse is necessary.
That thing is the definition of speed
Hitting these trails in a few weeks!
как всегда на горке не хватило мощьности, у 4Т в этом случае приимущество.
Love the old bikes
Subbed to your channel, I also have an 89 kdx. How do you like the YZ compared to your kdx for the woods?
I dont have a whole lot of time on the yz yet. This was really my first time with it on single-track so it's hard to say. Plenty of power, so I'd be hesitant to cut the bars on the yz. Whereas I've taken a good bit off the KDX bars. The YZ is just so good it ALMOST lacks character compared to my KDX and RMX. I can lug the yz around lazily or I can let the KDX scream in the tight stuff. I need to put a top end in the KDX and look at stiffening the suspension.
A long response I know, but all the cliches are true lol. "99% rider" and "It's more fun to ride a slow bike fast, than a fast bike slow."
Does your kdx have any work done to it motor wise?
I put a boyesen rad valve and did some jetting but otherwise it's completely stock
What a sexy beast of a bike! Sounded like Godzilla roaring through the woods.🤘
Good shit bro! You did the same I did on that bottleneck
I felt like I was riding horrible especially on this test and the last one of the day
20mm forks.
I prefer getting past 2nd gear. Desert racing is way more fun and exciting.
😮😮
So boring compared to desert racing.
Don't understand the fascination with low hp no bottom end 1980's suspension off-road bikes.
Kdx’s have plenty of bottom end to get around the woods quick but are tame enough that it isn’t too much power to deal while doing technical riding. Plus you can open it up in some sections and it most likely won’t put you on your ass. Not only this, but they have withstood the test of time. Bike is 34 years old and still hauling. I have one of these and a 2001 CR250 and both are a ton of fun.
@cr250r9 Are KDX's still produced? No because there far better equipment out there. And I don't ride in the slow ass woods. I ride in the high speed desert.
@@lw3918 There’s a lot of great things that are no longer in production, yet part of what makes them great is that they still still are around. I can see how desert riding might be fun for guys who just want to go fast in a straight line because of their slow reaction speeds or lack of coordination (hence the reason a lot of old guys love desert riding) but I prefer a bit more of a challenge which the woods offers. To each their own!
@cr250r9 Riding/racing desert isn't just straight line. Enjoy your slow outdated bike man. Remember there's a reason why it's not produced anymore.
@@lw3918 your opinion means very little in this comment section
2 strokes sound so much better. Yours has a kinda deep tone to it but its singing, love it.
Love the rmx keep uploading
Nice I have 92 KDX 200 . Greats bike ever !
Lovely vid, will a KDX200 pull me around good if I weigh 102 kgs?
Power wise you'd be happy with it, but you'd probably want to get a stiffer spring rate for the forks and the shock. Can't go wrong with the KDX tho!
@@thomasbenjoe thx
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Awesome riding man! I got 8th in c lites. Its was my first race😁😁
Awesome! How'd you like it? The sprint enduros are a great intro to racing
@@thomasbenjoe i loved it man cant wait till september for the next one
Nice video thank you Nice RMX 2 stroke sound 👍
That RM is a beast!
Love the video and the bike!! I was the orange shirt XR250 goin back and forth with ya at the beginning😂
Good riding! The trail was awesome
Best bikes ever ;)
Звук 2т мотора бесподобен!!!!
Sweet. I have 92 KDX 200. Love that bike.
looks like you have the same rmx250 and 89 kdx200. I also own 2 bikes just like you.
Rm125?
1991 RMX250
Love seeing KDX's out there still ripping it up!
I had a 1996 KDX 200 loved it in tight woods best bike.
I had a 1994 KDX with 240 kit. Best fastest Enduro bike I ever had . Light weight pulled hard handled perfectly Got my trophies Enduro B class on this New England right woods. I want another one.
Well Done Mate !!!, Maybe next time you could do a walk around your bike with the camera before or after the ride for all us KDX lovers. Cheers 😀👍
Good pace .
Perfect kdx loop . What year and mods ? What weight are you?
1989 KDX200 Boyesen rad valve and that's pretty much it! I'm about 165-170 with gear.
How much do you weigh? Any suspension mods . I got a 91
I'm a pretty light 165-170 full gear and water. I had factory connection rebuild the shock that I got off of a '91 and I rebuilt the forks. But stock valving and spring rates front and rear. I would like to stiffen it up a little for faster harescrambles and the harder hits
Yo bro what track is that
It's called The Cut MX in Easley, SC. Check them out on Facebook!
You guys had the track for yourselves
Kickass bike dude!
Beginners don't start on COMPLEX OVAL tracks. You start off on the simple OVAL track. You learn how to ride a corner and a straight. You clearly have no idea what you're doing. You can't drive in a straight line and you can't corner in a single line either. That professionally tuned bike is way out of your knowledge level. You don't even have endurance tires on that professional endurance motocross racing bike. Your KDX motocross racing bike requires you to ride perfectly in a straight line. It also requires you to choose the perfect line around corners. It also requires you to race up and down the gearing and keep the engine revs in a zone. This kdx engine won't allow you to be lazy at doing gear changes. You're required to perfectly match the track you're riding on. This bike will throw you off if you don't meet the bike's requirements. The endurance motocross racing bikes throw inexperienced riders off and break their bones. You have no idea what you're doing and you shouldn't be instructing other people.
Professionally tuned. Lol I'll take that as a compliment. I rebuilt it frame up. Definitely not a mx bike tho 👌
@dreyn7780 Give the guy a fucking break mate , Everybody has to start somewhere !!!
lol this guy
I want a street motocross and trail in one
Sooo how do u feel it did and is it capable u think with inverted forks or being a good ride to the track race and go trail riding bike
KDX is not a trail bike. You need to STOP mistaking the kdx motocross racing bike as a trail bike. It's got nothing to do with trail riding. Its got nothing to do with woods riding too. It's professionally designed for 4 hour motocross races. It doesn't do anything else. Its fine tuned for 1 job.
Ignore this other guy lol ask anyone thats ever ridden a dirtbike and the kdx is a trail bike. Hardly anyone raced them professionally at the time. And even then definitely not on mx tracks lol it's a killer trail and enduro bike but the suspension is soft for real big hits. I don't see ever getting rid of the KDX it's such a pleasure to ride either just slow on a trail or trying to push the pace a little bit. Very capable
@@dreyn7780 Says the guy who only posts videos of motorcyle games...
Learn all those young whipper snappers with that classic bike!
Hi, I would love practice it with one of my KDX ! Great bike ;)
This looks a lot like little brown jog
Good riding brother! When are we riding again?
Let me know where yall are going next! I need to put a new clutch in the DR650 from last time lol
Why did the DR seem so violent on and off the throttle? Were you easing on and off the throttle or is this bike just kinda jerky like that in 1st? Also couldn't tell if were using the clutch much. Thanks!
Slap that GoPro on a chin mount for a better view! I hope you upload more KDX race videos. I love watching stuff like this! 🤘 keep it up!
Other then a pipe, is your bike stock?
Bars, Acerbis 5.3 gal tank, rear luggage rack, skid plate, handguards, the front tire is a (half worn out) trail wing and the rear is a shinko sr244
Love the sound of that pipe!! WOW!!!
