Maybe I missed the point. Why aren't you recording directly to camera, avoiding both the streamer X and the Atomos Ninja? All you'd need instead was the wireless receiver connected to the camera.

That’s def an option but then you miss out on the extra functionality that the streamer x and ninja v can add to your workflow.

I have had both models of the fan, the original and then the spring loaded version that you are testing. I have used them on the a6700 and the a7c2. I have issues with both versions. One the battery would not stay charged and constantly cut off without being plugged in, the original just didn' t keep the camera cool. Bout a month ago, I came across the SmallRig cooling fan. IT has to be plugged in, and does not have a internal battery, but I find it far superior to the Ulanzi fan. I use it in my studio and when I am on location and my cameras are on a tripod. That way they can be plugged into battery packs. It uses inductive cooling that actually keeps the cameras cool without over heating or turning off. Lastly, i feel the fitting is better. It fits snugly and doesn't move or shake. Just my two cents. Great alternative.

Kri, I love your no-nonsence videos. Yes, indeed, the a6700 is a marvelous hybrid camera, but does have it's limitations. For short clips and really good stills, this little APSC rig is hard to beat. That said, I did end up selling mine as it just couldn't meet my specific needs. I was fortunate enough to sell it to a friend and budding ameatur photographer, so I felt it was finally getting the love and attention it deserved, and went to a good home.

I have these for each of my setups, I run a Sony ZV-E10 and ZV-1ii. My office can reach above 30C in the summer and often have webinars of 3-4 hours. Before getting them I had both cameras overheating regularly. Since getting the fans I have had no heating issues. A must buy in my opinion if you're using Sonys for webinars. I have dummy batteries in the cameras and run the fans via the usb c input rather than the internal battery.

Excellent job here and you are so right about bringing your own audio. The person on the mixing board a lot of times has no idea 98 percent of the time when you ask them if you can plug into their board and they will get scared, thinking you will mess something up. Like you said plug into the back of the speakers and keep on moving. I will never forget doing video at a wedding while being plugged into a mixing board, some Genius thought it was okay to turn our F6, off half way through the wedding because they thought they were helping us. We did have audio plugged into the back of the speakers as well. We normally would have caught this, but the bride was 40 mins late, and we were also taking photos.

Kri, this is a nice light set up, very well done and well thought out. We use a similar set up as well. The only thing that I would change would be adding time code generation to each of the cameras. Deity makes a three pack and you can buy their multi-port accessory to it for the FX3s. That accessory only works with the Fx3 or fx30. This will allow you to embed the audio with the FX3 and with the A7RV, you would use the included cable to embed audio through the left channel. This will make sinking audio super easy, like drag and drop. Time code generation will change your life.

Yeah, totally agree with your suggestion to maybe avoid the 𝛼6700 for certain types of filming. Trying to make a camera perform a task that it was not built to do never seems to have a good ending. I've been fortunate to not have an overheating issue with my 𝛼6700. I use it mainly as a gimbal-cam to compliment my FX30 which stays dressed out and on sticks. The biggest "test" I've had for the overheating issue on the 𝛼6700 was an exterior day shoot about a month ago. It was around 96˚F (Nice cool day for you!) as we filmed B-roll for about two hours. The camera was on the gimbal shooting 4K, 24fps, Slog3, 4:2:2 10-bit. Even though I was not rolling the whole time, the camera did stay on except for a battery change. The camera never overheated...though I think I did.

I can understand the overheating issues, the A6700 basically holds a cinema line sensor inside + a mechanical shutter. However, I do not understand the 1080p quality, which has not improved since the A6300! I would suggest avoid shooting in 1080p at all for professional work and use 4K 24p or 30p when you don't need the slowmo effect. Using a gimbal or a rig can also help, since your hands are not touching directly the camera. Also, you forgot the rule of always keeping the screen opened :) Thanks for the tips!

Hi, I love your videos and I just subscribed. Im torn in my decision making between these lens: Sigma 10-18mm F2.8G and the Sony 11mm F1.8G for my A6700. I want to take architecture, landscape and street photography. I think the Sigma may be the better option like it's more versatile but I might also take photos in low light too, not often but few times. Which one would you recommend?

I’d go with the sigma for versatility

Does Active track, function while streaming?

I would assume these suggestions would work for the FX30 both being APS-C and similar sensor, with great video specs. as I am considering getting the FX30 for video long form, and product clips, b-roll, shorts.
