Saddle time, training video
This 6 year old came to us with a issue. The new owner had him a couple weeks. He had traveled from Montana. They knew he was started under saddle but put out to pasture for the last 2 years. His feet were terrible and the farrier had difficulty getting the hind shoes but got the job done with sedation.
Tom started working with him and mechanically he has a hard time with the right hind. He has to pick it up, bring it out to the side to lift it. Tom looked at his teeth and realized part of the issue is in his mouth. Went to see Tony for dental work. The owners were told he was floated. Tony said he doubted that.
He was ramped up in the back, sharp points all over and the start of hooks. His right side was worse than the left. Tony got his mouth in better balance and immediately you notice he is less stressed.
The teeth are a direct line to the front feet and from there it can affect the back and all the way to the rear legs. Many times Tony will look in a mouth and ask, "Can this horse back up?" and the answer is, "Not very good."
We have learned so much with people that are professionals in their field.
Just wanted to give a little background because each horse will show us something that needs to be addressed. It is usually more than one thing. We want them to be successful and the owner have a great time with their horse.❤️🏇

A GOOD MIND, Horse Training
Переглядів 40121 день тому
Horses come to Tom for a reason. There is a issue that needs addressed or people want the horse safe as possible. Many of Tom's clients are ladies and a lot of times it is ladies that are getting back into horses after they have raised their kids and it is their time to do something for themselves. Getting rides on a young horse is good but getting the mind prepared for life challenges is so im...

The horse knows his groundwork and is ready to be ponied. Blackjack is a good horse to get started with. As Tom...

I posted a portion of Tom's lesson on a horse that Tom trained on at 3 and now a new owner has him at 15. He hasn't been ridden in a while so he is really out of shape. The new owner wants to do the rehab himself to get the horse back into condition. Each week Tom does a lesson. Tom goes over a lot of information so I take video for the owner to be able to remember the lesson. Tom has helped ma...

He has been out to pasture for a while and his new owner has been working on getting him in condition to ride. After all these years this horse remembered everything Tom had taught him. He connected up so fast. This video is part of the lesson session. At the e...

Car accident and fire 5-1-24 after 10pm
Переглядів 1835 місяців тому
Heard a loud bang after 10pm and ran out of the main house to check on horses. Everything was fine. Went back to bed and a loud bang got Tom running outside to see the Grey house on the road (we thought) on fire. Lots of popping noise (like fireworks) and explosions. I saw the flames, and Tom yelled call 911. He ran to the fire. TJ and I ran to grab hoses. A car had come over the oncoming lane,...

ROCKY REHAB-Ponied Rider
Переглядів 129Рік тому
We have been getting Rocky out to pony 3 times a week. I am still doing massage and stretches daily and before saddled. This has helped so much for his range of motion. We have him saddled to get used to carry weight and a couple days ago Tom ponied me around the arena pad once to let him feel the weight of a rider again. It felt like a dream come true to be able to feel this horse under me. Ye...

Our Rehab horse Rocky is coming along really well. He gets Ponied now and Tom helped me Friday 9-29-23 to get a video. Ponied again Sunday and he is traveling even better. Still doing massage and stretching morning and night. With the cool weather he seems to stand more so the stretching helps with him keeping his range of motion. He is loving the time out with the horses. Looks to be good weat...

ROCKY'S REHAB It has been a month since we got Rocky back on lameness on his right hind. We had him for rehab on the left hind hock tear. We gave him rest in his pen the first week he came back. I would do massage exercises along wi...

Beautiful mare 💕💕💕🐎
howdy?! Performancehorsea!super! really perfect content-)
Thank you so much. Appreciate it. Sometimes I wonder what to post.😊
Where is this, and how do we attend?
This guy did a really nice job with this young horse. Congratulations, good work. thanks for sharing your videos and what to expect. We are thinking of bringing a team from Canada in 2023 (if we can make it thru the mountain passes in November).
Thank you so much for the comment. We have met some really great people from Canada when we stay in Arizona for the winter. They actually have several Canadian Team Roping events. The Oregon Horse Center has a trail competition in August. It would be better travel weather. Hopefully the November show will allow you to travel with your horses. It is impressive to have such an amazing trail course inside a building.❤️🏇🌲
Is she a Scribbles Paint?
