great insights :)
Much appreciated!
Good video!
Thanks!
Saw the video title and my wallet started weeping. Luckily I’m just missing 1x Black One. Phew! Great vid, I really like GI already, he’s just missing some cards and we seem to be getting them in abundance set2.
No need to rush out and buy things!
@@iamwooooo No no, don't worry. I didn't. I don't need many of them, luckily!
Great video man! All of those cards make perfect sense. Luckily I have most of all of them except Del Miko 👍🏻
Thank you!
Whatcha think of mono red GI?
I will definitely try it as well. So far I'm more impressed with the early game that the yellow units provide though.
Good analysis 👍
Thank you!
I'm thinking Mono Red Grand Inquisitor for set 2. I currently run him in Yellow with Sneak Attack but I believe the card pool is wide enough to go Mono Red.
Yeah, same. It's gonna def be a thing
I will definitely try mono red as well. My one concern for the mono red build is that the early drops (2 and 3 drop units) are not as good as the ones in yellow, and being an aggro deck, I want to have better early game threats. But we may still get some more units for it!
@iamwooooo I'm really just looking at the impact of aggression. If aggression ends up offer a tok of value in the ready and unit kill something it'll be worth it for some mighty explosive turns. The mono red may be more of a midrange force user deck that just ends up ending the game very quickly
@@doomfunk aggression was on this list for a reason!
I went in big on sneak attack at like $1.25 each. Here’s hoping for a huge bump. Please win a huge tournament, Sneak Attack. Love the content. Woooooo!!!
I am very excited to play some Yellow GI with Sneak next set!
What in your thoughts of Chirrut over luke of the same deck type as this?
I think Chirrut works much better than Luke in this archetype. He is a much more consistent force enabler and his cheap deploy helps him brawl with Sabine and Boba decks.
Hey wooooo, I’m going to take Chirrut to our first showdown this weekend. Thanks for your insights, very helpful. You say that you won’t take this exact list to every tournament, I guess your are talking about some main choices like the disabling fang fighter that can vary?
I tweak things often for what I expect to face!
I'm surprised to not see Red Leia on this list. Her aggro deck is way better than Sabine imo.
I think she's a step below Sabine personally.
Great content, have you got any tips on what to sideboard into a Sabine Green deck vs. Han Command- it's a tough matchup!
Han is definitely challenging for Sabine! Probably need to pivot hard to ground if they Falcon, try to get key exp on units to avoid breakpoints
Thank you!
Since you keep talking about cards needing a longer game and then the smuggle making everyone check/shuffle their resources around, do you think that match time is going to become more of a concern? Control decks already often require concessions to get best of 3 games done within allotted time.
It could become an issue. If you pick to play these decks you're mostly agreeing to play BO1 in the mirror match, which is why these decks have so much main deck concessions for that match up.
I got my 5fth place today at local showdown, I love this leader and I'm playing him since the launch of the game. BUT I had a lot of difficulty control deck control like Palpa-Yellow and Iden-Blue. Do you have some tips, other then you said in the video? Btw, THANKS, I loved the video
Mostly focus on the hand disruption and push as aggressively as possible. The tools are there but those decks also have the right answers, so no easy answer there!
Great stuff my guy!
Thank you!
Thanks, mate! Defo the best constructed competitive analysis out there for set2. My concern all along with smuggle is if the resource fiddling will detract from the game’s stellar back and forth, and I’m still unconvinced. I do think smuggle may end up being used way, way more in draft and so for constructed it’s gonna be specific cards in specific builds and so the impact will be measured.
Yeah, I think it'll be a big player in draft. Not yet super high on the power level of most of the smuggle cards in general, but there are two leaders so far that have major synergy with it, and one of them (Lando) definitely appears to be geared for constructed. And thanks!
@@iamwooooo for sure, I would consider a few heavy smuggle heavy leaders still somewhat measured, my worry is we are all having to smuggle non stop because it’s too powerful, it may break up the game. But I may well be exaggerating the risk, need to see more legendaries I guess!
I dont necessarily think luke is that bad into boba green, boba yellow on the other hand is definitely super rough.
Mono yellow is harder for the Green Luke (9x bounce effects). I still think he's a bit behind green too though.
Any thoughts on iden blue? Most matchups i see a chance of winning but i got blown out. It can just remove every unit no matter how much discard i use.
Will be the same strategy against any of these hard control decks. Deploy on curve, try to blow up their hand with Throw/K2/Forced surrender. The games they get you feel bad, and sometimes they just have on-curve answers in to the board wipe.
One cool thing to keep in mind with the Survivor's Gauntlet is that, like When Played effects, you can choose the order of On Attack abilities. So you can do things like attack with the Gauntlet with something like Devotion, trigger the Restore 2, then pass it to another reasy unit you control. You lose out on the damage, and obviously you don't want to do this if your Gauntlet is on 1 health remaining, but it lets you double dip on damage and powerful On Attack abilities on your own upgrades Edit: one other rant point about Scanning Officer is that hero decks will uave to be prepared to just auto-realurce or side-out Tech when playing against Green decks, because he gives all of your resources Smuggle, so Scanning Officer can always hit 3 if you have Tech on the board.
Yeah there's a lot of weird stuff to do with Gauntlet, but I'm still not super excited about it. It is true that the officer hard counters Tech, I just don't think Tech is particularly good anyway. Might be useful in the very rare situations where both players are in a top deck grind, but otherwise it's not a card I'm particularly invested in.
Hey, I took your deck to showdown and managed to achieve top4! It was super close in the semi-final vs Iden Red but I lost 1-2! Thanks for your guides and deck <3
Nice! Congrats
Where is my darth maul leader/unit!?
He's on the set art!
I reckon things like cad bane and darth maul could be potential legendaries
If you had to bring a deck to tourney what would you bring?
This changes for me a lot, but right now probably Chirrut or mono yellow Boba
Great stuff
Thanks!
Blue soft Control is having an identity crisis! Lol 😂 poor Palp
Yeah :(
I won a store showdown with Chirrut. Its the most fun to play i think
Congrats!
Which is why I sideboard Power Failure in my red decks.. 😅
Incredible video :D, what about anticontrol decks like jyn cunning?
Can't say I'm too familiar with that one
Oure Store Tournament was won by a han Red, mostly build Like a Sabine yellow, but way faster with all the Ressourcen Advantage and early Drops
Nice! Cool to see more things succeed
Luke Green for sure? With the slower midrange. I'd include GI green if including chirrut, although no major event wins. What about sabine red and maybe boba blue?
Welp, should have waited the last few min 😅
Hah, yeah did include 2 of those. I think GI green is a step below Vader Green and mono red sabine a bit behind the two I talked about.
Very original video idea ;)
Can't invent the wheel every time!
Fantastic breakdown!
Thank you!
In my testing with others (TowerNumberNine etc), Green Sabine is slower in the mirror. I've done some interesting math with Frank. Green Sabine wins in less actions, but Sabine Yellow can cheat out more actions with things like Sneak Attack. The mirror is VERY luck based. But I'd say Yellow is probably slightly favored simply because of Falcon, Surprise Strike, and Sneak Attack. I will say I know that some bigger creators sort of pushed Green Sabine early (ECL was sort of the most hated card), I think that made a deck like Yellow Sabine "look bad". But as you know, Sneak Attack is absolutely broken card in a small meta.
It's interesting that different people are coming to different conclusions about this particular match up. It's hard to really determine, and I'm sure pilot skill will also play a huge role.
@@iamwooooo I agree that there are differing opinions. Pilot skill is a large factor for sure. Wish there was more compiled data.
You could be right, but I don't think that "Green Sabine wins in less actions, but Sabine Yellow can cheat out more actions with things like Sneak Attack." means that yellow is favoured against green, given that green tries to dominate board early. So yeah, Sabine Yellow is probably better when goldfishing, but in the games I played green is more likely to get the board lead to be slightly faster.
@@ignithas3150 it pretty much comes down to if they draw rebel assault, surprise strike and sneak attack. Thats often the entire matchup. Sad to say, but it’s really that shallow. Or who draws wing leader. There’s some nuance there, but that’s the majority of what determines the match. Regarding winning in less actions, Frank from the Orlando tournament and I have done some math. Green gets to 25 in less actions but Sabine can cheat out more actions with sneak and falcon. Yellow can also get to 25 damage before green can get to 30. That 5 life is extremely relevant
Wooooo! Thats it thats the comment
And it's a great comment.
"There's not much that eats up boba yellow" - in my experience boba green is a tough MU for this deck: thoughts?
It's not easy, but after tuning the deck and changing the main game plan (basically go full aggro vs. them), the match up has started to feel pretty close.
@@iamwooooo in my experience you need a good cunning turn to win, and if they can keep your board fairly clear, that becomes very difficult. In regards to tuning, which cards do you think do extra work here?
Yeah, Cunning is definitely the swing card in the match up. In general, trying to close the game out very fast is how yellow wins that match up. The card pool isn't huge, so there aren't that many options so to speak for the mono deck.
In small part, it's also because bobas are dropping seasoned shore trooper and some Cartel Spacer too.
I think Sabine Red is a very underrated deck that few take seriously.
It's just not as good as the others. Not nearly as much payoff for having a second red aspect vs yellow or green
It's solid, but in my opinion a step below the other two options.
Great Breackdown
Thanks!
Love your Chirrut deck. Sad we don't see him a lot in big tournaments. It deserves more visibility to take off cause it's really really fun (compared to mill strat 👀). Only 4 people / 141 were playing it at the Florida 5K.
My cousin was one of those 4. He has done really really well in our local meta with his chirrut
I can see it growing in popularity. It's definitely a solid choice.
You need a better mic
Definitely something im considering getting.
Do you think Wrecker with Sneak Attack is interesting or still too card negative?
As a finisher it could be interesting for sure.
Super helpful as always! Can’t wait for the set.
Same here!
Thanks, dude. More top stuff. Love that you analyse the card and its content in a game context not only its stat line and synergies.
Whoops, meant for part 3. Will leave one there too for the algo :)
Appreciate the feedback!
Enjoyed your thoughts.
Thank you!
Aggro decks are done for next set
Why do you think that? Any specific cards that you think will make aggro not viable?
@@iamwooooo a lot of answers for the turn 1 plays and none of mandolarians combo off each other like the rebel cards
Thank you bud for sharing your expertise and your insight. I wish you offered some kind of coaching service before I ever do a tournament. 🤷🏼♂️👍🏻
It is something I could potentially accommodate, time permitting. If you're in the main SWU discord, you can find me there under the username wooooo.
On the topic of bounties. I like that you are calling them out as tempo negative. There will be decks that dgaf so much about tempo and take so many actions that they rarely have initiative anyway.. looking at you GI. And that type of deck will have a home for a few bounties
That's actually where I'm looking first. The free red bounty with the bounty payoff units that have 3 power and big health pools.
@iamwooooo I know you have a GI yellow out there, but I think we got the tools for GI red. Getting access to aggression along with all these new 💣 red villains is gonna be the nuts imo.
@@doomfunk for sure! But ma klunkie (excuse my spelling) and Jabba are also appealing. Yellow and mono will be my first tests I think
Do you Mulligan aggressively for any specific cards? Force throw?
I mulligan for a good curve. 2 drop to 3 drop is really important, and vs sabine in particular I want open fire. Force throw is the best card in the deck, but without your unit curve in the 1st 3 turns, it won't save you.
@@iamwoooooMany thanks. Great job at the tournament the other week. Would have loved to see you win. 👍🏻
Just finished part 2 and was bored. Yeah ! Part 3! New suscriber here. Thx for the work 👍
Hope you weren't bored specifically by part 2!
Hunter (and the bad batch)is gonna be absolute garbage until some madlad figures it out and breaks it. I am not that madlad btw
I'll definitely try, but it seems a bit clunky
Hunter and the Bad Batch feels like the set 2 Hera deck that will probably get better in set 3 when we get more versions of unique clones. Keep in mind, Hunter's ability does not require an exact copy of the same card, only the name has to match, which means it works with different versions of the same character. One immediate example would be if there is a 7+ cost Hunter unit in set 2 as well. You can resource him early, deploy Hunter, attack, and pull him back to hand for free.
Everyone sees the combination of Hunter and Echo's ability right? They work together nicely...😅
@@timothydew9807 they do, and that is another use, but that is most definitely clunky. We will see how often you can pull it off when we get our hands on the cards
Another great video, dude, thank you. I'm also somewhat sceptical as yet about how Smuggle will work in constructed, but even just a few cards in the set could change up the whole meta from July. I do agree on the 4/5 resource turn being so critical, so 6 cost leaders take a hit. I assume this may well change as the card pool grows.
Thanks! And I do hope the six cost leaders get some more play
Baze Malbus is something you should reconsider. If you go first, you have de facto initiative, and there's no problem with that, but if you go second, there are still two safe ways to set up: claim initiative without playing anything, and play Leia/Waylay on turn two, since with that, you have Malbus for turn 3 without much trouble. And to top it off, besides Grogu, this deck gains another Waylay, so this makes it much more feasible to have cards with an impact on the board. The best part is that Malbus in that context will have Grit, and he'll be a beautiful target for the Security Complex.
Additionally, I wanted to mention that I've been playing Entrenched in that build with Baze Malbus. His targets are space units, and naturally, his best targets are Capital Ships and Firespray. So, with 9 Sentinels on grounds, you're doing great since you're using the Control Villany tech backwards, and it's very effective against them as well, especially in your own units with Sentinel.
He's an interesting card, I just haven't felt him to be super necessary, especially since to utilize him you need to sometimes take lines you wouldn't otherwise want. But he was a consideration for me.
It’s interesting you’re not jumping on the Tech hype train.
I think the card seems powerful, but I'm not sure that kind of value game plan is going to come to fruition. What do you think about it?
@@iamwooooo Cards like this to me are like indirect sentinel. Cards that are ridiculous if you leave them on the field so you're opponent is going to have to respond or things will get out of hand. So I think there's some indirect value there as well. i think the bad batch cards are the least obvious cards but for some reason feel like they are gonna deceptively be strong.
