    Great video as usual! Surprised that Fett’s Firespray getting to come in ready (and specifically how it interacts with ambush, in a way that Millennium Falcon doesn’t get to do) didn’t get a mention. Sure it dies to removal, but it’s a massive problem if it’s not answered.

    It seems to me it breaks the principle of “doing as much as you can” to resolve an action by choosing the damage to apply to your Lurking TIE if you have multiple units when it directly states Lurking TIE can’t be damaged in that way. It should work both ways being that it prevents damage and therefore you shouldn’t be able to choose to apply damage to one of your units that can’t be damaged. You would have to choose a unit that can be damaged if you have the choice.

    Good stuff! Yeah, I have played a lot of FFG games, from Netrunner, to Star Wars LCG, to Thrones to Keyforge. They design really good games in terms of core mechanics. After that, I think you can argue the record is a bit more patchy and FFG tends to be pretty conservative in addressing bad metas and OP cards.
    I would like to see more aggressively designed cards (Set 2 & 3 had a low impact overall) and banning from FFG in SWU. It is difficult to balance TCGs and I would rather see more dynamic design but also mistakes admitted early than continue with potentially broken cards and stale metas / archetypes. ECL is a good example - but inherently the resource manipulation leaders from Set 1 are also a potential problem (without limiting text) going forward and now DJ; but also a card like Sabine in terms of design space going forward. It is hard to see how you going to play a better aggro leader than Sabine - unless they print a more OP aggro leader for hero. A good aggro villain leader - but that can beat/ match Sabine on ECL, deployment and guaranteed ping?
    Don't get me wrong, I luv the game and it is my main game. I am also not calling for all sorts of bans, but my confidence in the design team is still pretty much optimistic but still reserved. Set 1 was good, but that was pretty easy all things considered...I appreciate a video like this and would like to see more videos talking about overall game design / design space, including not being afraid to make comparisons to competitors, providing criticism (ideally constructive), and in the spirit of making the game better by learning as they develop and by looking at what others are doing right/wrong.

    Wouldn't be surprised if we see some errata and/or rules adjustments before worlds. I doubt we will see it for lurking tie but ill use it as an example,, a lurking tie fix could be like "if an ability makes you choose a unit to deal damage to or to defeat, it must be a unit that can be dealt damage or defeated" but LTP is not running the tournament realm rn. I would hope pilot leaders get some errata about not technically being an upgrade otherwise it's a wasted mechanic until confiscate rotates

    Correct me if I misunderstood - but there is no way it is legal to move cards after targets are declared. Your talk on number 9 Scanning officer lined up the order of play that the resource reshuffle happened after the card is played. Which suggests the effect is on the stack. If the reshuffle happens post declared targets, that imo, is dirty and should not be legal. If the reshuffle happens prior to targets being declared, all the opponent has done is highlight which cards you should potentially target. I do not see this action being strategic or legal depending on what the order of play is.

    • @iamwooooo
      @iamwooooo  12 днів тому

      It is in fact how the rules work currently. You can rearrange your resources after someone plays Scanning Officer. I never said you can rearrange them after the targets are declared, but you are free to swap ready and exhausted resources if someone plays the card.

    • @christopherpoet458
      @christopherpoet458 11 днів тому

      @iamwooooo I know you didn't say it specifically, that was why I brought it up. The video wasn't clear on it when you were talking about it on "when" things can be moved around.
      But I still stand by my previous analysis. If someone was going to move their resources around, such as swapping theor tapped and untapped cards in the resource bin, it would just give away targets.

    • @iamwooooo
      @iamwooooo  11 днів тому

      Rearranging the resources is done to prevent Scanning Officer from exhausting readied resources. The main concern isn't that you lose your smuggle cards, it's that your readied resources get exhausted and you potentially lose a turn.

    • @christopherpoet458
      @christopherpoet458 11 днів тому

      @@iamwooooo Yea, but how do you avoid that by re-arranging your resources? No matter what gets moved where, you have two tapped resources. And if we can't move anything after something is targeted, the only prevention is on the chance they do not pick a card with smuggle.
      The most I see being useful is that on play before targets are declared, player 2 swaps their tapped resources with actual smuggle cards. Either deducing the chance or avoiding a loss of open resources.

  • @realZahmet
    @realZahmet 13 днів тому

    The only thing I feel is missing is Tech, being able to give any card in the game smuggle is imo bending the rules.
    Then the fact that he also has smuggle et.c. just makes him better, but even without it would still be the same he break rules, and if we ever get more cards like DJ that has a very high smugglecost with a low play cost, he just get better and better and to some extent limits them from making more cards like that.

    it makes no sense to me that after I play scanning officer, the opponent can reorganize his resources. I mean, resources are a "hidden" area of the game, but if my opponent can memorize the order that I put my resources down and make use of that info, than its a skill. It makes no sense that, after I reveal a hidden information (the officer thats in my hand), the opponent may simply deny me all information that I gathered earlier and screw me. Also, I think the only deck that runs scanning officer nowadays is Emperor palps, as side deck, as there are no better official in stats (sadly), and royal guards care for that trait.
    Also, as a Palpatine player, i agree that his on deploy ability is simply too good. So good that even the mere threat of deploy may prevent the opponent playing a game ender, such as devastator, avenger or krayt dragon. However, I think they balanced it really well with the condition for the ability (u can only steal damaged units) and the late deploy (the only leader with 8 resources deploy)

      I saw Scanning Officer in many green decks because of Han and as a Han I need to play around it, especially early. I even saw Han yellow siding them haha!
      As for resource changing state, the new rule mostly saves time. If not for this rule, I would just need to see every time which ones I exhaust and which ones I don’t in every single play, it’s doable but tedious. And with Control decks going to time, time saving tweaks to game are good idea.
      That said… Two things were changed in Han especially, tough after the reorganizing rule change:
      1 you can swap the resource added via Han’s skill to protect the ones with smuggle against a-officer. It was not possible before.
      2 and now you can insta-exhaust the resource taken with DJ so even if another player kills it, they will be one short
      So as a Han player I may not be really impartial about this hah

      @@iamwooooo Remember that indirect damage is targeting player. Only then player is dealing damage to units/bases by rules of indirect damage. So technicly if you assign indirect damage to lurking tie this damage comes from rules - not from enemy card ability ;)

    Merciless Contest is a bad card to print, for a unit based game. The fact that it works even when the player has no units out. 3 cost removal is broken in this game. Plus its only villainy, making the villain hard control annoying and feels against the intent of the games.

    • @CTBD09
      @CTBD09 13 днів тому +1

      This was not made as a judgement on power level. I’m discussing cards that break mechanics in some ways, and Lurking TIE certainly qualifies.
