How many mechanics does it take to change a tire? All of them.

Hello, my sprinter 2011 had the gear ratio change and it affects the transmission by not going to overdrive. Will it solv this probleme too?

I would like to see the 3500XD axle/bearing service as well, please. Thank you. And yes I had assumed the bearings were wet bath lubed by the diff oil. Interesting they they are sealed.

I've been trying to figure out what PSI to run front and rear. Besides finding a scale to get the actual axle weigh. What do you suggest front and rear for a basic build out (not too heavy) Sprinter 4x4 w 275/70r17 ? Thanks in advance.

Thank you for very informative article. I have W906 4x4 with ZG3 and left CV is bad, so replacing the both CVs. 130 000kms on the clock, 245/75 R16, sometimes serious offroading.

Keep the good work! Love the knowledge you’re sharing. Just replaced both right and left rear hub and spline shafts. I could hear a clunking sound when putting in Drive or Reverse that got louder with time. Shavings could be seen on driver when hub was removed. 🙌🤓🍻

What is the spare tire security lock at 3:50 and does it work with an Owl carrier? I checked XBull but didn't see anything. Looks cool.

Mine keeps cutting out whilst driving :( it just switches to neutral with active brake assist inoperative and ESP Inoperative and active lane keeping assist inoperative:(

Are they failing because of the the abuse the vehicle is taken ?

I think you will find that as rear axle load approaches or exceeds the rated load the flex of the axle housing/hub will begin to result is significant relative movement between the male and female splines. Large tires, spacers and offset wheels that create a longer level arm to flex the housing/hub exasperate the problem, especially when driving on rough roads. I suspect these factors are contributing to the spline failures you are seeing.

Because I will never install an ARB air locker on anything ever, is exactly why I watched this on 1.5. Excellent vid!

Would it be possible to overide the computer (dyno mode or otherwise) to allow a sprinter to limp to a shop in 4wd mode should a rear axle go out?

This is awesome thanks Tim! I just had the rear driver bearing go out at 40000 and had the axel assembly replaced under the drive train warranty. This helped a lot on understanding the whole thing.
