Midjourney InPainting with Vary Region
Midjourney now has InPainting with Vary Region
Inpainting lets you add or change objects in an image.
This is the big thing that everybody went bonkers about with Photoshop Beta.
Let’s see it in action.
Midjourney Settings
In Midjourney, to take advantage of this new feature, go to your Midjourney settings and ensure that you have Remix mode turned on.
Midjourney Inpainting Example
Here I’ve created an images in Midjourney of a woman looking at her phone.
And then I upscaled the 3rd one, as it works well for this demo.
In the upscaled version we now have a new tool called Vary region. This is the inpainting tool.
Click that.
You’ll get a pop up with 2 tools for selecting the region.
You can use the rectangle selection tool.
I want to do her head.
If you miss something, you can keep adding rectangles to it.
Then hit the Undo tool to get rid of those.
Let’s try the Lasso tool, which works a little differently because it self closes as it goes around.
Your full prompt will be in the dialogue box.
But you only need text for what you want in the selected area.
Let’s wipe this out and do cowboy hat.
Hit the Arrow.
Here you can see what it returned. Let’s click on it to make it a little bigger.
Now my lasso wasn’t very good so that’s why these look a little strange.
Okay, let’s jump over and look at the Photoshop version of doing this.
You’ve also got a rectangle and lasso tool.
I’m going to use the lasso tool.
Then for the Generative Fill, I’m going to do cowboy hat.
I get 3 choices, and I can flip through them.
If I don’t like any of those, I can generate more.
So, this is a great first step by Midjourney for inpainting and it will allow you to not only add things, but fix some of the goofy things that Midjourney spits out too.
Have fun playing with it.

Thanks for Helping on the Generative Fill, as I could not find it. Now, I need your help. I Open an Image, create a Copy Layer, then I go to SELECT, and under the SELECT tab, the INVERSE Feature is NOT HIGHLIGHTED nor does it work. I need to be able to INVERSE to do Frequency Separation, and now I can't. I've rebooted, updated Photoshop and Windows, and still nothing. I have Photoshop V 25.1.1 loaded, and not the Beta. No one knows what the problem is, and I can't get hold of anyone at Photoshop to help me out. Thanks.
