BMW E30 M10 2.3 Start up and `fly-by`

Sound check of BMW E30. Engine is stroked 2.3l M10 with schrick 304 degree cam, stiff valvesprings, head is ported, 40mm sidedrafts, full stainless steel exhaust, high compression pistons, and elecrtronic waste spark ignition. Filmed with Iphone SE 2020 and Audio-Technica mic.
4e-fe with bike carbs in vw caddy mk1

First testing toyota 4e-fe with cbr 900 carbs, still no other mods. Plan is to fit 2jz valve springs and 4-1 exhaust manifold as it revs now about 7500 rpm and valves start jumping also that oem cast iron exhaust manifold is big bottleneck.

Aki, thanks for documenting as much as you have. I am curious if your engine 'didn't last' and died from oil starvation? Did you have any baffles? I am currently making one for my M10 so I would love to know :)

Never got this dynoed. The engine sits nowdays in my ford anglia with slightly different setup. You can see it at my ig @aakk1

I drive E30 Coupe with M50B25TU swapped stock engine 192 hp (+ hydraulic power steering from, I guess, E34), self-locking diff with 3,64 ratio (3.64S diff) in Ukraine - and it is absolutely perfect for some street drifting trainings! : D Love it! : D
What exhaust is this ?
Was 2” stainless pipe and stainless header.

Can you please tell me about the carbs please? Does it gives more power? I intend to instal a 2 twin Solex carb on my M42 with M3 e36 piston and custom crank shaft
Yes and no. With just carbs you won`t get big power gains unless stock intake is poorly engineered. You will need supporting mods like cams and compression to make power. Twin carbs will affect positively to throttle respond without any other mods tho. And with carbs you can make basically same top end power you make with itbs with same supporting mods.

Yes in rear i have 50mm bigboys with those oem bottlecaps. In last clip they are not installed tho.

is there a cheap way build m10, i can find 80mm crank only, i was thinking m60 m62 rods and pistons but big end of the rod is shorter
I believe not and even with fully build engine like this was you will struggle to get decent seat time :D That’s why im currently K swapping this thing. If you are interested go chek it out on Rush D channel : )

Does this car have a limited slip differential or open diff because I have an e30 318i with open diff and was curious(I’m not going to abuse my e30)
I have welded 188 diff with 4,45 ratio. Car was making around 160-180hp from crank. There is some drive and K swap videos about this car in RUSH D channel

@@FOXeye95 It had 40mm sidedrafts, schrick 304 degree camsaft, schrick stiff valvesprings, 10.4 cr, 2285cc (big bore, mahle pistons and long storke crank) And fully adjustable ignition with waste spark coil. There is CHEAPER AND BETTER ways to get more power and relaiability 😂

Sick thirty 👌🏻 How did you get to 2.3l? Bored block and m10b20 crank? Why sidedrafts and not injection and standalone ECU?
thanks! I did have 84mm storke crank and bored block with 92mm mahle pistons. I just like carburetors :D i actually did have electronic standalone waste spark ignition with this setup. baskeez Nice! It was ”M Sport” crank made by finnish Bmw dealer back in the days 😁 I don’t have build thread on this but it was basicly storked 10.4:1 compression, 304 degree cam, stiff valve springs and ported head. Then there was also sidedrafts and full stainles steel exhaust 😁
Nice! what tyre size do you have at rear when drift? are those are carbuerators or throttles?

Did you carb swap it or did they make a carb E30?
It was orginally with pierburg carburator. They sold it as ” 316 ” model which was cheapest option of E30 you can get. But i actually didn’t have stock ignition system on this. : )

idle speed is 900-1100 rpm depending how hot engine is. I got this engine in another car now with few new mods tho.

Hi i did mountings from toyota oem mountings with volkswagen mount car end welded on them. Also used 4e-fe gearbox, drivesafts, and toyota corolla hubs and lower control arms they were allmost direct fit on mk1 caddy. I had to make shorter drivesafts on this application but i dont think that is problem with you mk4.

Nice project how did you get the 4e to rev to 7500 rpm, ecu ???
starlet boy it has stock ecu but i did get rid of all un necessery parts of the wiring loom so it did basicly have just only spark related components. Also this engine has fuel cut rev limiter so carburetors will get rid of that.
