Переглядів 38 тис.3 роки тому

DIY Bar in Garage Conversion.
Переглядів 2,2 тис.4 роки тому
Recently did a garage conversion and was asked to build a bar so we came up with a design which would be practical and aesthetic. This was made up with two frames out of 4x2, Red cedar cladding, some left over end panel from the units and a oak worktop on piano hinges. Thank you very much for this video. I watched it and as a result was able to fit the skirting down a step. It looks really professional.
It is looking perfect. Only hamonogram ( the way of working ) was little wierd. But outcome looks perfect
Che rory de que medidas son cada puerta y que espesor Saludo desde Argentina....
For the first time ? I don’t believe it. The result is too good 👍
Build on a carpet? Big no no.
What kind of wood did you use? Thanks
Hi, this was made out of pine
Perfect video for what I needed. Those smoke alarms would have gone out the window if it was my job.
amazing stuff, I am jealous
Absolute legend this is helped me so much 👌🏻👌🏻
Amazing for 1st attempt using the old school methods -
I was wanting a fireplace in our room and this was perfect. Super easy to install and easy to follow directions. My children love changing the colors on it as well.
I’m Glad it all worked out and that this video helped! Great job!
What was the fixing used to screw to wall at end of video?
I used a concrete screw
Thanks for this video, the only one I could find on how to skirt up a single step like this! Would be great to get some commentary on what you were doing at each stage. Thanks again!
Ok you got me,I was thinking swinging doors off the hinge wouldn't be strong enough, but obviously they can handle it. I was going to do a track system but I'm looking at over 1500 bucks Australian just for the track. I'm putting in four pine laminated 620mm doors the exact way now you did it.i see you went through to the wall studs for added strength. I think my doors probably wouldn't wiegh anymore than yours as it's pretty much the glass wieght isn't it? I'll have to go back and see what you did with the door stop trim though.
Would it be easier to machine payed flat before fitting
Yes 😂 It was a feature client decided to add once it was fitted 😅
Hi if you don't mind, I want to get one of these done in my house when I move, Where's the best place to have all the sockets? Where you have them? Just worried about router etc
Hi, I have the electrician spur off the existing sockets so they are relocated behind the tv so it’s accessible.
@@rorysjoinery1030 Do you think it’s best to relocate sockets before I get somone to fit the media wall just thinking may be less awkward
@@smckeown8442 Yes - If you get electrician to bring wire to where its going, and then when its being boarded it can be pulled through and fitted into socket once boarded, hope that makes sense.
❤❤❤ love it. This is the exact idea I had. But I was thinking of using a track to keep them in place but this is better. Thank you for sharing.
I’m glad you like it and thankyou! I also wanted to do the same thing but the customer insisted he wanted it this way… thought it was a lot of weight on the hinges when fully extended but the doors weren’t to heavy after all.
That's a lot of underwear! You should post your work more often!
🤣🤣👍👍
What lights did you use on the bottom. Looking to make something similar but like the lights you used ao want to get the same. Cheers
I have no idea as the sparky sorted all that out 😅
Why didn’t you cut out the baseboard?
No need to - I found notching the timber a quicker process... it allows you to get a fixing into whilst plumbing up the timbers.
Hi Rory, when you screw the timber into the plasterboard for the first few lengths, did you use wall plugs? Thank you
Hi, no I just screwed into it as it is thermalite block behind. I also trap the timber in by screwing the header timbers into the floor joists above.
good video 👍🏻 how long would a build like that take you?
Thanks! Typically 2 days for something like this. That doesn't include plastering & electrics.
Wow, they turned out really nice. I need bifold doors too, but you lost me after the first cut. My deaf Dalmatian dog is named, Rory too. I named her after Rory Gilmore from Gilmore Girls. Thank you for sharing. Greetings from Canada.
Thankyou Samantha! Sorry you couldn’t make much sense of it… perhaps next time I’ll slow it down and do a voiceover 👍
Can you make my patio doors? Came out great bro! Great Job!

Are you guys using 1x3
Hi, I used 3x2
What hardware did you use and where did you purchase?
I used external chrome 4” Ball bearing hinges, external chrome handle, 3” tubular latch and tower gate bolt for fixing slave doors shut. Try ironmongery direct 🤙
What was the measurement you come out ?
I came out 2ft
Nice work, how much do you charge to make one please?
Thanks! Depends on size/lighting/finish you would want.
Amazing work! So proud 🙌🏻💖
😘😘😘
Insane job! 🙌🏼
Nice one my bro! 😎
Diss one ☝️ is Dee real deal. Very inspiring Fab job 👍🏼
Respect! 👊🤙
These are awesome! Any idea roughly how heavy these doors are? I'm looking to do similar but haven't found a strong hinge that holds two doors without a top track
Thanks! No idea on weight sorry, they have x3 4” butt hinges on both and the tracking was something I wanted to put on but the customer insisted it will work and it did 😅
This was amazing! I plan to build a "she shed" and I really wanted folding glass doors. I believe I'm going to build my doors because I want wood but I definitely want to save on cost.
Thankyou! It depends on what timber you use, this is western red cedar which is expensive cause it’s known for lasting well in all weathers.
Could you give me details how to do? I want to build a bi fold for my patio decking
Could you give the size of timber for frame and size of timber for 4 doors ? Thanks
Sorry I hadn’t got back sooner.. these doors were around 760mm wide I’ll leave the rest up to you ;)
Great job mate👍🏻 I’ve subscribed to your channel and hope to see more.
OMG...you are so Sexy and Talented that I had to watch this video 3 times cause I couldn't concentrate! The doors look BEAUTIFUL and so do you!
😂😂😂 why thankyou
alright mate just wondering what type of wood you used to make these doors? i need to build a set of these doors and was considering using western red cedar as its durable but it is a soft wood though
Alright pal. Yes it is western red cedar, I used it cause it’s natural properties can withstand all types of weather and it’s nice to work with as well as it looking amazing!
nice one mate thats excellent i see you have used a haunch mortice and tennon did you use wegdes?
@@longbowandwarbowcraftingbo2859 no, just a snug fit.
Brilliant job - I bet your Dads a builder? 👍🏼
Good guess! He is a plumber, but he can do all sorts of general building stuff 👍
Nice work bud. What wood did you use if you don’t mind me asking? 👍
Thanks pal! I used western red cedar.
extremely talented bunny boy
🎯🎯🎯
😂😂😂 thought that was Matt for a second
Thanks Ashliegh 😁
Making them corners at the end of the vid perfectly smooth gave me pure serotonin
😂 Cheers bro! Knew you would appreciate that 😝
Was completed DOOR WEIGHT a factor on building the frame as well as hinges and fasteners length ? I was given a wooden two- door assembly with double glazed windows to close off the doorway to an entertainment room. The doors are rather heavy and I will need to remove the existing casing so I can re-shim the folding door casing. It is inside the home so weather intrusion is not a main factor. Thanks for the video. JwgK in Houston , TX.
Yeah most definitely, I was concerned that the doors would be too wide and heavy to handle when fully extended but I used 4inch butt hinges with 100mm screws on the casing side which also went into the post behind to give extra security. Turns out it does work and what I have done is enough to withstand... no problem, good question! Thanks
great video mate, did you recess the inner frame to fit the glass or did you just add strips to hold it in place? also did you use putty or water proof caulk along the edge to keep water out?
WARBOW MAKING agincourt Thanks man! I used strips 👍
What did you use as the filler, glass or solid polycarbonate, and what thickness was it? they look really nice too
Thankyou! this was 6mm toughened glass.
sick work broski
Cheers brother!
Awesome work bro...
Thanks man!
Just what I needed! How do you make the center piece in order to stop those doors from moving? Thanks, great job!
Thanks pal! I put a tower bolt on one side of the doors so its stays fixed and then have a tubular latch and keeper on it so it stays closed.
