Where Are We?!
Canada
Приєднався 6 вер 2022
Hello, and welcome to our channel!
Now, a little about us. We are Brandon (Canadian) and Anja (German)- an International traveling couple.
Despite being new to this UA-cam thing, we have actually been traveling on and off for the past 8 years! We have lived in 8 countries together, and have recently reached the 50th of our 50 country goal together.
During this time, we've been asked, "why don't you guys start a UA-cam or travel blog?", several times by friends and family. We finally looked at each other and said, "why not?!".
If you share a love of food, culture and adventure, we would absolutely love you to subscribe and join us on this journey.

In this week's travel vlog we are in Belfast, Northern Ireland for the first time. Belfast truly surprised us!
We start our day at Blinkers Belfast for some delicious Irish breakfast. We eat a sandwich made out of Irish Sodabread. Then we make our way to St. George's Market where we sample more amazing food. Next stop is the Titanic Experience. After exploring the Museum and the SS Nomadic we visit another small market called Smithfield Market. We continue strolling through the streets and go to the Botanic Gardens and the Ulster Museum. We admire Queen's University Belfast from the outside before we head to The Thirsty Goat for some hearty Irish Food. We eat an Irish Boxty and an Irish Stew and we also enjoy a local beer and cider. After dinner we go to the City Hall and take a tour with the Hop On Hop Off Bus. Finally, we end the day at Kelly's Cellars with more beer, Guinness and local Irish whiskey.

Good review next time you have mussy peas add some vinegar makes it ace!
We want to try them with mint sauce! We've never had it before.
You haven't truly experienced England unless you've been to Greggs 🤣🤣🤣. Brandon, my son, you sampled the best thing on the menu. I love Greggs pizza. A real damn shame your slice of pepperoni wasn't hot. Eat it hot and your smile stretches a mile 😁
Kedves emberek vagytok ! Örültem, hogy jól éreztétek magatokat itt nálunk , Magyarországon !
This is great, I've got 1 day in Belfast in a couple of weeks and your video has helped me choose what to do (botanical garden and the museum then city hall) thank you. Gwen
No problem! We're glad it was helpful for you. We're sure you'll have a blast, even if you only have a day. Hopefully the weather will be on your side. 😅
When i was younger, my sister and i would have swimming lessons, afterwards we would go to co-op or tesco, my dad would have a full English and they would be hash browns.
you making me hungry, wish I ciuld nip out to Gregg's immediately but it's 22;00 hours and they are all closed
mango chutney is to have with a curry
Leberkäse tastes nothing like American bologna. If you take American bologna, which is a meat wasteland, and make it 10,000 better and more flavourful you will start to get an idea of leberkäse.
I mean, Anja is from Germany and grew up with Leberkäse (but also lived in America for a bit), and she thinks it tastes like bologna. They're both finely ground meat (often beef or pork), made into a paste and formed into a tube/ loaf. They're not THAT different. Hahaha. Leberkäse is definitely better, but to say they're "nothing alike" isn't accurate.
Best chip shops are at the coast
We're going to try and go to Whitby some time in the next few months!
Really enjoyed this video. I’m a local who grew up in the troubles and I’m so pleased that people want to visit Belfast now on holiday. So glad you enjoyed your trip. If you’re ever back you should head to the North Coast & visit the Bushmills Distillery. If you like sampling local food, the Ulster Folk Museum is worth a visit. Haste ye back!
We're really glad you enjoyed it! We would have loved to explore the North Coast. The Bushmills Distillery was on our list, but with all the rain it put us behind schedule with filming. We have a DIY food tour video coming up in a week. Give it a watch for us, when it's out! We'd love to hear how we did. We did our best to include as many region specific items as we could. Thanks for watching, and commenting!
This is an excellent, fascinating video on the Wetherspoons. I am visiting Northolt (outer north-west London) very soon, and will visit this Wetherspoons in Ruislip. Only about 2 miles from where I'm staying (in a Wetherspoons Hotel, no less - the Greenwood).
We're glad you enjoyed it! I (Brandon) had a great first experience there. Since then, we've only visit one other Spoon's location, and they both felt quite different (the other one was at Liverpool Station). We enjoyed our time in Ruislip in general. We've never stayed in a residential area like that before, so it was a good experience.
Hey guy's, just stumbled across your video. I really enjoyed it. I live about 10 minutes from St georges market. I hope you enjoyed your time in belfast as a whole and the market is an amazing place to visit. Subscribed! ❤️🇮🇪👍🏻.
We had an amazing time in Belfast! Thanks so much for subscribing. We're currently putting together our DIY food tour video, so you'll have to check it out when we finish! We went a bit overboard, though...hahaha. We tried to find not only "Irish" foods, but some that are more specific to the North. You'll have to let us know how we did, and what we missed.
@@wherearewe-yt I'm so glad to hear you both enjoyed our beautiful city. I'll definitely look out for your DIY food tour video and leave a comment. Post notifications turned on 👍🏻.
Are you even British if you dislike hashies? Sort it..
We speak in valencian / catalan because is our language, not castilian / spanish. In the city are there lot of people not valencian and for this reason they don't speak valencian but in other cities, village the valencian is speaked
Visca el País Valencià i I love cats and animals! #bevegan 🌱
traditionally, one would have a stella with brekkie. There are a lot of spoons f0r the same reason we have so many foodbanks.
We've heard we did it all wrong, since we didn't start breakfast with a beer. Haha.
There’s a few that I didn’t actually know were Nova Scotia particularly the oat cakes and the deep fried pepperoni. Thanks for creating the video. I enjoyed it thoroughly and I’m going to have to check out a couple of places like the Bulwark Brewery and the candy store down in Fishermans Cove.
You definitely should! And if you haven't had the Crobster Roll yet (if you're actually a fan of seafood) we highly recommend. It's currently back, but only for the summer!
Yes it is good value and especially if you go in at 4pm and take advantage of the cheaper meals! Totally agree about the Eggs Benedict Hollondaise sauce its not the best flavour.I could not eat 3 breakfasts! I see you tried quite a range of snacks, some better than others.Non Japanese Curry look nice.Value for money and Elvis juice a special choice of Grapefruit Beer😊 + i love the Pear Cider a special treat
We always try as many things as we can at a restaurant, to make sure we give a fair shot! We also try to get suggestions from locals, if we can. We did decide to try out some more unusual things this time as well though, to keep things interesting. Wish we could have tried one of the pizzas, though!
I hate how we hate eachother in this city. And how we don't see how much of an _incredible_ town this place has become in spite of us. While you were all busy hanging your flegs and screaming at eachother, Belfast became one of THE best Food Destinations on the entire Island. Its a rich city, with a lot to offer, but we're making an absolute balls of it whenever we can.
We must admit we don't know every detail of the history and politics when it comes to Northern Ireland. I (Anja) have a Scottish friend who used to live in Belfast and she always told me about how things were there and what it was like to go to high school there and I couldn't properly grasp it to be honest. However, many people might disagree with us here, but we actually really enjoyed how Belfast felt like such a mix of Ireland and the UK. It felt really unique in that way. We actually like Belfast better than Dublin and also much better than most cities in the UK. When it comes to the food, you're right, it really has great food. Our next video will actually be a Belfast food tour 😊🤤
@@wherearewe-yt I'm actually from the greater Dublin Area, from a County below Dublin, and you're right. Belfast has more character, more culture, more flavour, and more fun than Dublin does. Belfast is a fusion between Irish, and Brittish (Specifically Scottish) cultures. But the history of colonialism, plantation, and violence still lingers deeply in the cities history. Many alive today remember, and were active participants in inciting The Troubles. That being said, the city is trying so hard to make something of itself outside of this history. Belfast is a fun town, full of fun people, with incredible character, and incredible food, and a rich GLOBAL history due to the docks, and the ships that were built and launched there. I'm not a Belfast native, but over the last 6 years I've made it my own, and I love it.
Pork crackling in the Pogacica, what you were missing is yogurt 😊
That would have been better, for sure!
Meg a kelt tésztákat (aranygaluska vanília sodóval, mákos guba vagy kalács (mondjuk én inkább diós kalács párti vagyok), borzos/borzas kifli, a különböző leveseket (paradicsomleves, borsóleves, zöldbableves, kapros tökleves, klasszikus tyúkhúsleves, palócleves, esetleg karalábé, vagy karfiolleves) is ki lehet próbálni. Töltött paprika is népszerű. És amihez kicsit nehezebb hozzájutni, ahhoz részt kell venni egy magyaros disznótoron, vannak erre lehetőségek inkább télen , pl, a hagymás vér, toros káposzta illetve kissé drága, de a hízott liba/kacsamáj sütve saját zsírjában, nyers (kevésbé csípős, lila) hagymával kenyérrel.
Thanks for all of the suggestions!
I koje po Vama Beograd.
No one knows what this is meant to mean. 😁
Come to Bristol!
We were there very briefly at one point, but only for a few hours. We'd like to go back at some point, and properly explore (and film)!
Never heard of Wenzels to be honest but it seems ok.
While they have over 100 locations, they seem to mainly only have branches in and around London. We didn't really know that before filming. Many viewers seem to have never heard of them 😆🙃
Fdfeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee 1:15
No idea what this means..hahaha.
Props to Anja for very good Slovenian pronunciations. Also you guys are cute af :)
We thought we butchered everything. Hahaha. Thanks!! 😁
A german would enjoy any quality of british food haha, german food is possibly the wurst! 😉
Wurst is delicious, though 😂
I think you can apply for British Citizenship now...
We actually would if we ever move to the UK. And we might do that in the future. I (Anja) have settled status in the UK so after 5 years back I could apply for a passport 🤓.
Vid was no bad until the lassie insulted Edinburgh 😡🤬. Stopped watching at that point. Grimy aye? Our city is very old. Castle over 900 years old and you describe it as grimy. Clearly, she's Glaiket!!! 😂
Edinburgh is one of the best cities in the world. I never insulted my favorite UK city. I said Greggs seemed a bit grimey when I lived in Edinburgh 14 years ago. Not the city itself. Lol
Och! Well! Yer forgiven Hen! Ye ken we have the best banter but very Patrotic and easily offended. Loyal tae the core! 🏴🏴🏴" You may taste our sausage rolls but you'll never say we're Grimy"😂😂😂 You probably picked up on that. ❤
Geeez I wonder why you're giving so much publicity to Wenzels $$$ Great "honest" video guys /s
Why do so many people have an issue with us liking Wenzel's? We didn't even say it was mind-blowing or anything. We were pet-sitting and there were only so many options we could choose from in the Neighborhood. We also made a Gregg's video in the past and some viewers told us to try out Wenzel's. So we listened and tried it out. We often make these type of videos so I guess naturally many places get free advertisement from us. 🤷
@@wherearewe-ytbro stfu about wenzels already. They must be making you rico
The best cider I had was in Peterborough in a pub that was on a boat, they had this home made mango cider, it was incredible 😊
That sounds amazing!
lol I swear every bit you have there’s a “mmm”.
Hahaha. Probably. It was all pretty decent!
I am in Australia but of Serbian origin or heritage . I been 100's times in Belgrade and know majority of these places and really enjoyed your video .
We're glad you enjoyed it! We did our best to include as much as we could, in the small amount of time we had there. Everything we had was delicious.
Thatchers Vintage Cider 8.3% Is gorgeous.
are you coming to Dublin?
We are out of Ireland now, so no current plans. We've been before, but would love to revisit and film a video there at some point. We want to see more of Ireland in general!
We say Bu'ee not butty or buddy , in a fluent one go .. bu ee
If I said it like that, it would definitely sound like I'm just mocking, given that I'm not British. 😂
Hi guys, i liked ur video about hungarian desserts. Poppy seed pasta is better if u put a lil water on tge top and mix it . Next time try it again. 😊
If definitely needed something! I think the one we got just wasn't great. We've seen photos that looked better than what we got. The one we had was soo dry. Hahaha.
0:20 that's Badgers in Derry 😂
They actually had the image of the Derry Girls at the airport when we got off the plane. That's where we filmed it 😊. We'd love to go to Derry at some point, though. Unfortunately, we didn't make it this time.
@@wherearewe-yt fair play, Belfast trying to steal our glory! Derry Is small but it's the perfect place to explore Donegal... That's the real hidden gem of Ireland
@conallmclaughlin4545 We'd love to go! We hope to make it back to Ireland soon, as there's much more we need to see.
I am a Londoner myself but nearly fainted when seeing some of these prices!
The Sunday Roast was totally overpriced for what it was. We went there because it had really good reviews, but it was just alright. I'm sure we could have found something much better for much cheaper!
@@wherearewe-yt I would have wanted to have stayed the night if I had paid that much!
My favorite meal sardines bergers. Delicious 🎉🎉
They're so good!
fun fact the uk style bacon is danish
Really? Never heard that before! Interesting. We haven't been to Denmark yet, but we'd love to go.
@@wherearewe-yt yeah, a large majority of our bacon comes from denmark :)
And pljeskavica is half of price form McDonald's or any other burger, and u get double the ammount.
If was definitely a good deal! They were enough for two meals. 😂
When u cook (boil) milk u get KAJMAK on top, its cooled milk foam actually
I saw that people, mostly, from west don't eat salad properly. You don't eat it like separate dish, but as side dish, mix it with meat, beans, etc...
We eat everything together, but when we're showing foods, we like to showcase them individually.
Love love love the whole of Ireland its just a magical place with good food and great people
Agreed! We hope to explore more of it in the future. There's so much more to see!
