    Hi, @KaroCodes, I've been on a similar path in the past few years and I'd really like to take a break just like you did. Your video helped me realize I wasn't alone. But you've stopped posting video on UA-cam since... Really love to know your story afterwards.

    Very interesting. Thanks for sharing. I’m hearing a lot of these thoughts from people around EM’s roles and responsibilities (i am one myself as well) and can’t help but wondering is there a better way of doing an engineering management role. Meetings, context switching, politics, stakeholder management seem to be getting a lot of managers just switching back. 🤔

    why are you labeling your review as a "nightmare"? Do you think it will look more attractive to the viewers ? I tell you what I think - this is the AD not a review. So my thumb is sadly pointing down.

    Thank you for the video. Here's one of the customer reviews I've found on some website: "Apple has informed me that CalDigit has permanently closed their offices in the United States and no longer provides technical support nor sales support in the US, effective April 2023."

    Great video! Two years into my info systems degree, my uni offers an emphasis for it in either web development, cybersecurity, or data engineering. Great degree in my opinion as someone who is business minded but also really into coding/tech.

    Feels like you become an EM without knowing what it takes to be an EM. It’s very obvious that you will not have more time to code etc. it feels to me like you took a blunt decision but not it’s not anything extraordinary that led you to take this decision to move back to Individual contributor.

    I know the video is old but it’d appreciate if you got back to me. I’m currently considering enrolling in an Information Systems program, and I wanted to get your thoughts on whether it would be sufficient for diving into natural language processing and AI. The program covers a range of topics including programming languages like Python and Java, database management systems, system analysis and design, and even dedicated courses on artificial intelligence and expert systems. Do you think these courses would provide a solid foundation for someone interested in natural language processing and AI? I value your expertise and would love to hear your insights on this.

    Nice details and breakdown...Now with all these ports, do they share bandwidth or are the all independent and each will get the full 10Gbit/s or 40Gbit/s. In other words, If I connect 2 TB4 cables will the ports share and now I am down to 20GBits/s? Thank you...

    Looks like I'm about a year late to the party, so you may already have the answer, but I have a half-theory as to why your Samsung T5 SSD was faster through the Element than when plugged directly into your MacBook Pro: the Element supports USB 3.2 (apparently through both the USB-A ports and the Thunderbolt 4 ports), whereas my MacBook Pro (and I'm guessing yours) only supports up to USB 3.1 through its Thunderbolt 4 ports. In theory, this would let you gain more speed out of Samsung's T7 and T9 SSDs. However, I think the T5 only supports up to USB 3.1...so that's why this is just a half-theory.😅 I'm not a coder, but I discovered your video while looking for reviews after purchasing the Element at a Black Friday/Cyber Monday discount. Your video was great; I found the effects enjoyable, and in your review, you really seemed to put the Element through its paces. Despite not being a member of your target audience, I found the video useful. Thanks!

    Caldigit TS4 has ports for microphone and headphone, and SD cards. These ports are irrelevant to my needs. I would rather have two Element hubs than both one Element hub and TS4 dock. I only wish the Element has 4 Thunderbolt 4 ports and 3 USB 4 ports rather than 3 Thunderbolt 4 and 4 USB 4 ports.

    One downside to a dock is that is constantly charges your laptop and you can't turn off this charging if you need to use your devices. This is a MAJOR pitfall because it will keep your battery always charging when plugged in and cause overvolting/overcharging which will lower your battery's lifespan significantly. This is why I typically prefer hubs to docks, because I can use my devices and disconnect my charger from the laptop for a bit so as to let it discharge and not cause battery damage by having it constantly charging all the time.

      @PatrickDAllen1 11 місяців тому

      @zukdizzle ah, so yet another device I need to buy to make the set-up work without overvolting my laptop. See, this is getting expensive! This is why I just use unpowered hubs for the most part... Some even have pass-through charging so I can run my computer charger through it but it's not constantly charging my device all the time.

    I think you've pretty much convinced me to go with the TS4; Thank you. I do have a question that has always bugged me. How can I eliminate the need to waste a USB socket for my mouse whether corded or cordless. Seems like I always have another device that wants to connect, but the mouse is using the last port. (I hate touchpads)

    Yes, don't do a Bachelor of Information Systems in Australia. I got a Grade Point Average (GPA) of Distinction; only succeeded by High Distinction. I got a Higher Education Debt for my degree. Then, I got harassed and hounded online for almost twenty years, I got forced to work in a toxic workplace that lied about career prospects using bait & switch and dangling the carrot. Then, when I spoke with people who are representatives of government and non-profit organisations in Australian Community, nothing happened. Australia now has a terrible track record for workplace harrassment and bullying. I would not suggest studying or working in Australia; you'll only get exploited.
