COPPERHEAD CROSSING
Jesse helps a huge copperhead cross a busy trail, and teaches some strangers about venomous snakes in the process.
"October is breast cancer awareness month, and cancer treatment is an emerging area in venom research! Did you know that contortrostatin, a protein found in copperhead venom, has been shown to inhibit the growth of tumors, slow angiogenesis (the growth of blood vessels into the tumor that supply it with nutrients and allow the tumor to grow and spread), and also helped prevent metastasis (the spread of cancer cells to new areas of the body) in studies of mice implanted with human breast cancer cells?!"

Close call feeding a reticulated python
Переглядів 1744 місяці тому
PLEASE DO NOT TRY FEEDING LARGE SNAKES WITHOUT EXPERIENCED SUPERVISION! Many snakes have a strong feeding response, and reticulated pythons are no exception. They are the longest snakes in the world, and they are always trying to eat and grow. We feed our large constrictors with long tongs for our own safety, because we know they can strike several feet out of their cages. And during a feeding ...

This gal was very active and musky but at least she didn’t bite 😊
You are *REALLY* doing a service to the reptiles and people of your area! Education goes a long way while ignorance and fear can be devastating!
💯
That blue tale though ❤😍🥰
Most beautiful blue in all of nature! I can’t get enough of it 😁
Wish more people were friendly to snakes. They really dont deserve the hate and fear they get :(
💯
YAY, JESSE!
Pretty sure I bumped into you earlier that day. I called the garter snake a ribbon snake. Right near chiques rock right? Pretty sure that was you. Found your page from your Facebook post on Lebanon County page.
@@djkirby09 yeah I handed you the garter right? Cool 😎

Did the hurricane affect you very much? I'm wondering about Lady Charlotte (Lord Charles, Crush). I've been his/her Grandma for over 16 years.
Some branches came down but it wasn’t too bad there.
Thank you for your reply. I've been worried. Thank you.
So cute ❤❤❤
He’s been with us for almost 20 years. We rescued him after his owner went to jail.
Rescuing snakes, education, and petting dogs?!?! Does it get any better?
@@smetlogik living the dream 👍🏻
So cute!❤
I wish I could just go for a walk or ride and see snakes. I have my own but in the wild is a whole other experience.
Yeah we live with over 100 pet reptiles, but finding wild snakes is always a rush 😁
That's our baby!!! God bless this family for agreeing to give Lady Charlotte (Lord Charles) a Great Home.
❤😊❤
❤😊
Nice trail!
💯 my favorite trail! Lots of wildlife, cool scenery, cool people 😎
Great video. 5 in one night is pretty amazing!
Yes it was! I just kept seeing one after another 😎
Great video! Thanks for sharing your expertise! What model is your trek?
Thanks for watching! My Trek is a Marlin 8 and I love it, especially for rougher trails. I also have a Raleigh Reduxe 2 with over 11k miles on it, which is ideal for smoother trails. Both great bikes!

As long as you aren’t feeding them citrus it should be all good and a little cocked food as a treat isn’t a bad idea Think this is a girl don’t see any jowls but hard to tell the size but regardless the coloring on this Argentine is beautiful ❤
lol !
This was delightful!
Thanks 😁
So cool. Thank you.
Thanks for watching 👋
Good job Jessie!
Thanks 😊
Broad banded???
No it’s an eastern copperhead (former known as the northern copperhead).
Also look at their eyes, a perfect example of how a slit pupil doesnt mean venomous (this copperheads eyes appear round)
Poor guy had one red eye and one normal eye. Was probably hurt.
I was about to say the same thing. Perfect example how you can't trust the eyes as an indicator
Cant always depend on that. Best to remember the shape of their heads.
I don’t teach the head shape method because most harmless snakes may also flatten their head shape when threatened. At least the Hershey kiss pattern is something that is easily recognizable from a safe distance, and copperheads without this pattern are a statistical anomaly.
Nice specimen of the Agkistrodon controtix aka Copperhead ❤😊
Indeed it is!
Stunning 🤩
Beautiful creature
Where is this?
Northeast 🇺🇸
Love seeing yall have a great time! I wish my dad would have taken me herping when I was younger and wishing to find snakes. Yall are a blessed family. Please be safe when looking for rattlesnakes! Snake chaps are never a bad idea :)
Thanks! Safety is definitely the main priority when it comes to venomous snakes. I’m not against wearing boots and chaps…but I focus more on teaching my kids how to keep a safe distance and only step where they can see their feet. Hopefully that will give them skills that keep them safe in all situations.
Похмелье 😅
I had a veiled chameleon but she died because of a bone decaying disease
Bummer 😢
I had a bearded dragon
Axolotls are my favorite
Jesse it’s me Julie Ehrgood’s grandson
Awesome I hope y’all are having a great reptile adventure in Florida!

I can’t wait to see what you have
Every day it's something different in our reptile world! Thanks for tuning in.
