    I've gotten a lot out of your Omtech upgrade videos, so thank you for those. I see that those are your most-watched videos as well. I believe many of those viewers would like to see you do a project on your laser, showing how you use all of those upgrades. To us, it looks as if you upgraded your laser and never used it.

There are a bunch of excuses (didn't know anyone would be interested, I was busily focused on craft fair season, then Christmas season, and hunting season, blah, blah). But point taken! I'll try and get something posted soon and see what the view counts might be. Thanks again!!

    Hi That's a smart move to remove the stock fan. However, after 8 months, I suspect, although its better, you are not really getting full advantage of your new exhaust fan.. Almost every Chinese machine manufacturer seems to be blind to a simple physicd priciple. Taking air out creates a vacuum and the only air getting into your machine is via the door gaps.or in directions that have nothing to do with removing fumes. The simple principle of fume removal is air FLOW. Whatever the area of your exhaust duct, you should have an OPEN area of typically 1.5 that area to allow air INTO your machine. I note there are (like almost all machines) no air inlet areas at the front of the machine. Just allow your pass through door to open by 45 degess (about a 1" gap) to see how much better the extractioni becomes.

    • @FlashpointWoodworks-fp6br

      Great information. I’ll give that a shot!!

    • @SarbarMultimedia
      @SarbarMultimedia Місяць тому

      Sucking from a single point is VERY ineffective at extraction, even with the basic physics rule of areas. Just try sucking as hard as you can at a candle flame 6" in front of your face. No effect. Now just do the gentlest blow and see how easy it is to blow out the flame. The same principle should apply to your inlet gap. There will be a curtain of air that is drawn in but in effect it is being BLOWN across your table because the pressure difference is accelerating the air in a CONTROLLED direction. Experiment with the pass through door gap to see what size is most efficient at clearing your fumes almost instantly.

    While I'm awaiting this part from OMtech, I downloaded the instructions which said that the side with the adjustment screws should be up. I had assumed the threads would be cut such that fully tightened would point the adjustment screws so they can be readily accessible. Perhaps it would be a good idea to not tighten fully until adjustments are made?

    • @FlashHikes
      @FlashHikes 2 місяці тому

      Yep, in my case, the threads on the beam combiner did not match up with the threads on my tube where it would allow for easy access to the adjustment screws. It took a while to get the adjustment dialed in, that’s for sure. In order to get the air outlet on the top of the tube to be positioned correctly, I waited until the beam was dialed in before gently rotating the tube in its brackets. (I hope that makes sense.)

      Good questions. I wouldn’t say that it’s necessarily producing ‘local clientele’, but I do occasionally have people reach out after seeing me at a show. Usually it’s for me to make something that I didn’t have on hand at the craft fair. I’ve got a booth at a local antique mall where I have a lot of my stuff on display, also. That’s where I reach more of the local crowd than when I travel to a craft fair.

    • @FlashpointWoodworks-fp6br

      The beam combiner is far superior to the one that's provided with the machine. Being installed onto the end of the laser tube, the beam combiner provides much better precision and accuracy. Welcome to the wonderful world of sublimation!! Your car coasters turned out great!! I do have one suggestion for you. When working with sublimation, it's best to use white un-coated butcher paper rather than a Teflon sheet or parchment paper. Teflon and parchment are non-stick and there is a greater chance that sublimation ink could be transferred to another project. Of course that could also happen with the butcher paper if it's used on more than once. Other than that try turning over an edge of your tape on the bottom of your coasters to help pull it off. Have fun and keep up the great work!! 😃

      The beam combiner, once correctly aligned, provides a more consistent ‘red dot’ than the factory installed red dot devices. Now that you have had it for two months was it worth it?

    Great Video! I have not yet bought a laser, so i was wondering what the difference is between the factory installed red dot and the beam combiner? Is it the accuracy? Thanks.

      Thanks! Yes, since the beam combiner actually attaches to the laser tube, once you have it dialed in, it should be much more precise than those that come installed from the factory. Oftentimes, the ones installed at the factory can be easily bumped, therefore requiring much more frequent adjustments!

    Thanks for the videos, sir! As far as the acrylic, you just predrilled the holes then used bolts, washers, and nuts and went through the honeycomb holes?

      Glad you find them useful. That’s correct. Predrilled the acrylic I and used bolts, washers and nuts to secure in place through the honeycomb trays holes.

      Oh, it’s right around 1 5/8” long or so! They may have the exact measurements on the OMTech website, but I didn’t go and look. I just measured mine real quick…
