By hand you say?
Gz on the mile stone.keep up the good work. And as always stay awesome stay epic
Thanks, nice to see people make it to the end of my videos now and then! :D
How about using Cartoony assets and Cartoony thumbnail ? And making specialized videos covering each aspect in short form
That sounds fun, but I don't have the animation capabilities to make these for myself. Though maybe a hand drawn animation could be fun to try.
@Winstreak1 @Winstreak1 you can use asset style similar to Goodgis. Like a Ball or any simple character. Thumbnails are way to Video's souls. Canva would be great for it. People tend to watch such visuals more. I request you to cover each aspect of Gdvelop in short video forms, like you telling about forces in Gd, physics system, ways to add juice in game xyz,
@Winstreak1 @Winstreak1 you can use asset style similar to googis :( YT deleted my previous commenr
Hi thank you for the video but isn't every tick going to be a problem for later? I mean for bigger games? Is there any other option to check it?
You are welcome! :) Sure, there will be some point in your game where you could have saved some FPS by checking less code with every tick. This is a lot more likely when tracking things with multiples such as enemies or projectiles etc. It is the easiest route, not the best performing route. Better practice, any time you update whatever it is you are tracking, in this case strawberries, you would update the progress fillbar width at the same time. So as a 2nd action in your hero in collision event, move that fillbar set width action. Keep in mind you need to do this anytime a strawberry is collected. If you forget one type of event youll get a bug where you have a higher percent than your bar shows.

@@Winstreak1 Could you answer my question on discod?
this video is great, thank you!!
You are hysterically funny and so darn smart!!!! For a minute I thought Hubert was going to be the winner of this video!!!! 😅
Hubert is always the winner!
hiiii great video but some reason my points arent multiplying even though its the same as yours, what should i do 😢
This is hard to pinpoint without being able to see your code, but here are the key points: 1. Set multiplier back to 1 when it is time to reset - here we are using collision with the ground 2. Set points to the value times 200 - you no longer declare 'variable' when grabbing the value of Multiplier: ToString(200*Mario.Multiplier) 3. Increase the Multiplier value after adding it to Points - here we hare multiplying by 2 Both the enemies have their own collision events so we need to do this for Goomba and Koopas
im so sorry thank u but im still confused is it ok if i ask on discord 😭
@@thecourtesybath Of course - Throw in a screen shot of your code
Very funny and most interesting as well 😂
Great video
Thanks for the visit, glad you liked it.
Amazing! How did you do that?
I made it with GDevelop - A free 'No Code' Game Engine. If you have some Gdevelop Experience and want the code I can share it with you? If you were looking to get into Game Development, this is a great place to start: ua-cam.com/video/El-X7Bb8lsk/v-deo.html
@@Winstreak1 love GDevelop - can you share the code?
Sure thing! I don't have it on this PC though, so you'll have to wait till Tuesday. I'll zip it up and throw it on my Itch.io page.
Here it is: win-streak.itch.io/chain-lightning
what kind of programs are you using for creating mario
Are you asking about the image editor I was using? It was Construct's built in editor. Since I used Construct before Gdevelop I still had the paid services which included a pretty decent image editor. I don't mind Piskel but the one inside of Gdevelop is buggy, so for any larger drawings I like to go outside of Gdevelop.
My Koopa shell wont move when i try to kick it, how can i fix this?
There are a lot of things going on when you hit the shell. Make sure you are creating the new 'ShellAttack' Object which has PlatformerObject and 3 variables. left, right and moving. On your initial collision with the koopa you need to set moving and one (only one) of the 2 directions to true - this is based of the x position of the koopa. In other code you should have a check for each Shell attack, if left is true simulate pressing left and if right is true simulate pressing right.
Well that was easy!!! 😊
Short and to the point!
Looking cool!
Thanks friend!
Hi Winstreak thank u fol helping me! But now Gdevelop has change
Only change you should be dealing with for this is the way you call variables has been simplified. All variables can be called just by their name you don’t have to declare they are a variable first
You are the goat of gdevelop bro❤
Haha! Well, I am glad you enjoyed the video!
this is perfect!! cant wait to see results, but one issue, when the galoomba gets hit, it keeps moving. why?
The Goombas move with an Event: Condition - If Goomba variable isFlipped = false | Action - Simulate Pressing Left key. So setting the variable isFlipped to true - will break that condition. Also, if you have default settings for the Platform Character Behavior still active - Goombas will move when you press your move keys.
I love the tutorial!!! But for some reason at the code “angleBetweenPositions” line it doesn’t recognize Enemies as a current object although every other line does. This prohibits everything you teach afterwards and I’ve tried to find every compromise to get the enemies to spawn (after thoroughly checking) but nothing has worked. Is there anyway you know I can fix it if you do not mind? (I’m new to gdevelop and this video has really helped me learn the basics and further expand my world with the tools you provide!)
It's hard to know the issue without seeing what you are doing. My main thought would be some form of syntax error. Everything matters between what is capitalized, comas vs periods, parenthesis placement. Here is one of the formulas I use, assuming you used the same naming convention you can try copy pasting it in. AngleBetweenPositions(Link.X(),Link.Y(),Enemies.X(),Enemies.Y())
@ Thank you!
Hi this video has been super helpful! for cookie clickers if you have like say grandma cost / cps for every building, and we need to set up at least 2 variables for each of them. and write bunch of events?
You have 2 values, the value before you run the formula and the value after. All calculations: purchases - gold over time - etc: should be changing the first value before the formula. Then you can feed that value (rounded) into the formula, to get the amount you show to the user, the 2nd value.
@@Winstreak1 right, what I am trying to say is - this is just for total amount of cookie, like if we want to purchase the grandma, then on the grandma page it shows the price of the grandma(which will increase over time), and CPS value which will also increase over time, so that's two more numbers to show, which is another 4 new variables and 2 event trees. and then we will have farm, factory, bank etc.. so each of them will have their own event tree...unless we can make this function as a extension?
@@roysun6222 You definitely want atleast 1 variable for every different value you will have, holding the true number value. You can use the formula on each different true number - I would think the best practice would be turning this into a function that takes in a number variable. Anytime you display the value you would push the current true value into the function and set the text you are showing the user to the short form value. This value can technically be reused over and over in your event sheet - as long as you are getting the new value and using it 'displaying the text' before using the function again, the value is fine to be reused.
hey it's not working
Why are non of my boolean Variable actions showing?
If they are Object variables, when you are creating your event, first click on the object they are attached to then search 'var' for variable. If they are Global or Scene variables you dont click on any objects, you just go straight into searching 'var'.
@Winstreak1 alr thank you!
Also i liked & subscribed to your channel. Cannot wait to learn more with you.
I can't believe how much effort you put into this. IThank you so much. Best tutorial ever👍👍
I'm so glad you enjoyed it. Welcome to the channel!

The health bar has default values inside the properties make sure those are all set correctly

hi! great video. off topic. I'm creating a top-down game and in my game there are rivers and I would like to create wave effect or rippling water. Is there any way to simulate this sway effect in gdevelop? thanks.
Not something I have worked with before. You can always make animations that wiggle around and have them spawn in the water. Also there is some form of reflection extension: forum.gdevelop.io/t/water-distortion-effect-behaviour-anyone/60702
@@Winstreak1 I've seen this topic before and my question is to create a distortion effect in the image to simulate the effect of waves. but thanks

You Should Add Louie G
Haha, Merry-O and Louie-G face off against the Koo-Papa's and Goomphas!
Can this be done on GDevelop?
Of course - we are just spawning particles in a semi random line from top to bottom
create a video on how to create the player die so i can use the lives
Seems like a good continuation of the 1 minute mechanics.
thanks so much, i found a thread of someone asks how to stop scene on gdevelop forum and there was the guy share a link of a tutorial that is 30mins long just to solve the same problem as this 3mins clip
Super happy to have helped ya out! Best of luck game dev’in!!
do these items stackable?
No. The first video goes into some detail on stackable items, none of the equipment are stackable
Is there a way to import Zelda Alttp Assets?
You would have to find someone who already created the sprite sheets with the Link To The Past assets. There’s probably something out there on ye ole internet somewhere for ya
Hoping this gets a lot of love and support so you’ll do more tutorials/courses! This was the best in-depth GDevelop course that I’ve seen and really hoping you’ll continue to do some long form full build courses like this in the future 💪
Thanks for the support friend I enjoy doing the full builds, but they take me months to finish and are exhausting compared to the single mechanic videos. I imagine I'll have another done for 2026 though 😅
YOU ROCK BRO
Thanks Dan
