Yes, I bought a 3D printer right after this video - I’ve been trying a lot of designs (either small plastic inserts by Beezer on ED forums). You can definitely make it full metal - inner diameter is 6mm, outer (for a tight fit) of 12.9-12.8mm. The cavity for the force sensor is more of a oval shape so that was the main issue with my 3D printed parts. PLA was good for same results as tape minus the wear out, it eliminated the force sensor dead zone and effectively made the stick immobile. I tried designing in cavities and springs to return some of the movement whilst retaining no force sensor deadzone however those failed. I am currently testing a very promising one however, oval shape to snugly fit the cavity, slightly oversized and printed out of 96A TPU and I think this is the way. I will most likely make a follow up to check how the parts behave after some use.

Yes I use 3d printed bushings and they work very well. Tried FDM printed ones but in the end as you need quite thin wall thikness printed in SLA

Sure you could, but that’s as low cost of a solution as you can get, I will probably be looking into 3D printing or getting a larger bearing down the line if the tape wears out fast enough to inconvenience me

Weird, maybe it was misconfigured? To me aliasing isn’t any different to the G2 at the same resolutions.

I would say it’s basically the same, maybe with better color consistency on the Q3, you also get adjustable brightness and higher peak brightness on the Quest

If you mean 128v512gb versions, there is no difference.

From my experience this should’ve been wayy too late and too little to flare it off which is why I was surprised it missed

I use a WiFi 5 router with VD now, and I live in a multi floor apartament with plenty of wifi in the area. I get sub 60ms latency on godlike resolution and 80hz with AV1 10bit. I ditched the cable because of audio crackles which seem to stem from Oculus drivers, though I wish I could use VD wired too, wireless is lovely but not necessary for DCS at all imo. I'm still waiting for Valve to make an Index 2/Deckard a reality though.

@@Destarn I had horrible audio latency and crackles that reminded me of my G2 that had improper contact with the speakers... this was on a USB C cable and I've only used the headset wireless. I'll add a link cable in the next few days and report back my findings. Might be USB drivers fault with AMD mobo (x670)

@@andreas9119 I tried with other cables and with my dedicated PCIE card that I used for the G2 (also on X570 here), it was also present over airlink. As for latency it was fine on cable, non issue

back to the G2....it's amazing, when going back to the G2, I wonder how I ever left it?

@@dabneyoffermein595 My G2's already sold and off to be enjoyed by someone else. Q3 just better and I had money to toss at the microphone and speakers to make that a non issue.

And i mean will it run better/same/worse if both headsets ran at 90hz refresh rate. I would definitely get the q3 if at 72hz would allow me to play with slightly higher graphics and wothout reprojection..

It will run roughly the same. In my experience initially I had a slightly better performance and better consistency. The lenses don’t affect performance since they just point the light at your eyes and they’re the main contributor to the Q3s superior visual quality, it’s the resolution that mainly determines the performance impact. The total pixel count is slightly lower on the Q3 but because of WMR shenanigans if you were to equal the resolution demanded you’d run marginally better. With the Q3 you have the choice of 72 and 80 hz as well, I personally settled on 80 but as I mentioned in the video 72hz has no significant strobing. Another thing is Q3s reprojection is far better to WMR’s option so definitely do give it a try. There’s still artifacts here and there but nowhere near as bad as on the G2.

It’s not amazing but personally I didn’t really have many issues with G2s tracking in my 3 years of use

As shown and said in the video clarity is basically the same, except it’s across the whole screen. As for latency depends on how you want to do it and your networking if you go wireless. Wired you can go with a very high bitrate giving what is basically a compression artefact free image with no considerable latency. Wireless (with virtual desktop) you can get pretty good quality compression wise with under 60ms latency - not an issue for me but it varies from person to person.

Funny, both are made there and in my experience the G2 had more QC issues than the quest…

HP hasn't been "Quality" anything since the mid Nineties when they went full Woke. I used to work at HP on Stevens Creek in 53U NSD and saw it firsthand. Black chicks that knew nothing about Computers were being put in management positions because of skin color and nothing else.

G2 is total quality, feels like something with amazing quality, the Quest feels like it was made in a hurry

@@dabneyoffermein595 The G2 is total crap. It wont be supported by WMR for much longer and then it will be pure worthless junk.

Not sure where this Doom a Gloom came from but your G2 isnt going to just die because MS stopped WMR support. If you like your G2 you will find one of the many ways to keep using it. It still isnt official to what MS is going to do. We do know the WMR division no longer exists but thats about it and that it still works of course.

Many ways of keeping your G2 working e.g. Group Policy entry to stop Windows 11 upgrading to 24H2. Google is your friend ;)

Yeah mostly because there’s zero operational Ka 50s in service lol

@@Destarn It is still in service and by the way, you are lucky that that Ka50 had a poorly trained pilot.

@@francesco-97 it was retired in 2012, only 17 were built. It was deemed too expensive and workload heavy so the two seater variant, Ka-52 took over.

@@Destarn I did some digging with the existing information and only saw that it is still in service, and there are only 16 that are used for different roles. and its value is 15 million dollars.

Yeah it’s a shame, it’s still a solid headset and you can get them really cheap now. I can only hope someone comes up with a non ms dependent way to use it but that’s about it

Yeah, that’s assuming you can even get one. G2 is likely EOL and they’re never in stock on HP’s website when I was checking for V2 cables (just to get the power button lol)

in what way does the Q3 outweigh the G2 in DCS, I'm not seeing it at all.

@@dabneyoffermein595 It works for one. I know of so many problems with the G2. I had to get rid of mine it drove me nuts and a friend of mine's just broken too. I'm an oculus fanboy to be fair lol but Very few problems with it and the lenses are vastly superior.

Yeah overall G2 controllers were meh, though I can’t say the haptics were my biggest problem with them

THe G2 as far as audio and just an all around comparison, is a no-contest. It's G2 ahead in so many categories. The Audio is horrendous on the Quest 3
