Pile of Parts turning a version 1 maxima into a version 2 can it be done
The Pride Maxima was a Merits design that pride took and made their own. The design ran for quite a while before they decided to update the original first version to a 2nd version. The main changes where very small such as black tires, new S-Drive controller and removing the onboard charging system to a tiller mounted charge port. The rest of the scooter pretty much stayed the same until the release of the new Maxima that was totally designed by Pride with many changes (see the review on the new V2 Maxima)
Turning a pile of broken Pride Maxima parts from two scooters to see if I can make one good 2nd version to use a rental might be a bit of a challenge and I hope it can be done.

Servicing A Pride Mobility Zero Turn 10
Переглядів 332Місяць тому
I think servicing a scooter, power wheelchair or vehicle lift is key to longevity for your mobility device especially if you rely on it for transport or just everyday movement. By performing maintenance you can save in the long run, detecting early problems, just cleaning can stop parts from degrading before their time. Like your car or truck a small problem can sometimes lead to expensive repa...

Reviewing the 2024 Redesigned Golden LiteRider Scooter

The already popular Golden LightRider 3- and 4-wheel GL111 and GL141 with its tubular frame design has always been a popular mid-size scooter with its ability to be disassembled for transport. With its 300 lbs. weight capacity and bigger 22ah battery pack, my opinion has always been the motor and transaxle were a little too small for this scooter and was used in such applications as the smaller...

Taking in a trade-in for a new mobility unit is always a risky thing but if you do your due diligence hopefully you won't be upside down. If you are thinking of reconditioning the unit for resale checking a used unit for trade-in is similar to buying a used car. Pride Mobility Folding Scooter Service and Repair
I have a buzz around EX I need a new trans for or parts for the trans. Where did you get parts?
That's a very thorough service !
what kind of cleaner do you use for your scooters etc?
Do you recommend a VSL-6900 for a truck? It’ll be in the bed exposed to weather
I'm not a Bruno dealer or seen any of their lifts, so I have no idea how good their weather proofing is.
Hi Ian, great video again. 28 scooters out very nice, You was lucky the motor worked with the different controller say hi to Jenny and be lucky.
Twice a year we get wiped out by the APA (American Pool Players Assocation) A bit expensive the last time as we put all new batteries in the scooters. At least we know there wouldn't be any problems. Jenny says Hi
The main thing with the airlines at the check in desks is the Watt/hr rating . W/hr= Volts x Mah. So SmartScoot is 36V x 8 Mah = 288 watt hrs . This is under the airline reg of 300 W/hr . I’ve had one for 8 years and travelled extensively . No big problems at all and have always been able to take it to the gate and then take the battery off and carry it onboard as hand luggage. I have had the occasional red tape at the check in desk , but it always goes on. Also , the manufacturer provides excellent technical help long after the warranty is over . Highly recommend.
Yes the FAA set the guidelines for the size of Lithium batteries for scooters like you said. I'm not sure how they deal with if you want to take an extra battery with you though. I've never had any problems with Handy or Smart Scoot, very helpful.
Nice job Ian!! I actually like the older equipment better than the new stuff. I have an older Maxima as well with an electric seat lift that has been sitting for a while and watching your video I think I'll dig it out and build it now!!
It's always good fun to dig out a bunch of parts and bring a scooter back to life.
@@lasvegasscooterslifts I agree. I've got SEVERAL older Pride units in my shop that I keep bypassing. With things as slow as they are for me here in Florida I'm going to dig them out and "Build" them now. Like I say IMHO the older equipment is better quality than the brand new stuff.
Hope you guys are doing great and work is good! I'm also in the mobility business (just over a year now) and was wondering why they switched to the off board chargers instead on the onboard chargers? I feel like the on board chargers are better but I'm sure they had there problems i guess. Just wondering why they would switch that. Hope all is well!
Hi and welcome. I think it was a cost, availability and may be even weight and space saving thing to be honest. To have an onboard charger meant that it could be susceptible to damage and moisture, and you were stuck to having to replace it with the manufactures OEM part. With off board chargers you could buy aftermarket chargers more readily and pretty cheap.
@@lasvegasscooterslifts Thank you for your feedback. I always learn something new when I watch your videos. Thank you, guys, and I wish yall the best!
thank you for the video 👍
Thanks for watching Blue.
I have a victory pride LX and I can't it won't hold a charge and I've tried to get it fixed and nobody can figure out what's wrong with it What would be wrong with it
It could be a number of things. Did you want to bring it in so I can check it out?
I have a 6-year-old Jazzy 600ES, I have started receiving error codes. The first was the 7 flashes so I got another joystick and installed that which seemed to correct the problem. Next, I received a 5 flash code indicating left wheel brake, and I've now received 4 flash code indicating right motor fault. Except for the joystick, the error codes are intermittent, I can turn the chair off and then on, the chair runs for a bit, and then a code returns. This chair has lived indoors mostly I take good care of it. Do you think disconnecting the cables and spraying all of the connections with terminal cleaner might help? What is your recommendation?
Very strange you are getting switching brake errors from left to right. My first thought would be controller issue. I have known in the past of the motor loosing contact at the motor but as for the brakes it might be a wiring or micro switch issue if there is any corrosion from moisture. Check the brake wiring for loose connections and move the wires to see if you can bring about the errors.
I have 2 used batteries on a 24 volt set up about 5 months use and I am wanting to use them on a 36 volt scooter with one new battery, will this work?
As long as the scooter is meant for 36v then yes. As long as the batteries are of the same type and AH rating wired in series then yes it technically can be done. GEL and SLA or Lithium mix is never a good idea. As for reliability, it's not the best idea to used mixed or new and old but for testing purposes then yes, you're ok, but for best results would be to buy new matched batteries and then balance them out before adding them to the scooter.
How much to buy & send to north QLD Australia
It would probably be cheaper to buy a plane ticket and pick one up than try to ship it and pay customs etc.
Rho much does this model cost
All the pricing and details can be found here lasvegasscootersandlifts.com/store/index.php/product/jazzy_carbon/
Thank you for this. I'm thinking of building a 4 wheel all terrain mobility chair outb of the frame of a riding mower hull and this information is helpful.
Let me know how it turns out.
Thank you for doing this video. I'm going to be getting a GC440 in the next couple of days and this will really help if it ever breaks down. Is it possible to order the internal parts for a transaxle rather than having to replace the whole thing?
Not that I know of, I know golden do not sell any internals just the whole thing.
We're about are you
We're in Las Vegas NV
Do they make any folding scooters with a swivel seat?
Not that I'm aware of or a dealer of.
I have had a Black 2020 and a Red 2023 ZT10. The biggest problem with both of them in Vegas, the garage is too hot. I had a 24,000 BTU mini split installed huge difference in the operation of the ZT10. Another issue is with the small tires up front hitting a little rock it is very rough riding. I wished I could add a softer thread around the original tires. Also, my Harmar 100 lift, having two motors on one side of the lift warped the lift, now the Harmar bent down towards the street dragged the ground and almost lost the scooter on the freeway. This scooter is very heavy, on my large truck I have an airbag lift, so to get out of the driveway I use a remote to raise my truck. Then have to lower the truck down for my senior mother to get in. Ends up being a lot of work to take this ZT10 around.
Jenny replied to your email.
I'm CRUSHED! I thought changing the bearing race was going to be simple! YIKES! I guess it's basically the same process to replace the bearings on the Golden Tech Companion GC-340. As much as I'd like to give it a shot, I think I'll try to clean and re-grease in place. I can't believe our local repair guy for the VA said the bearings in my wheel were bad and replaced the three wheels, when there aren't any bearings in the wheels! Golden Tech claims the GC-340 I received in 2021 is no longer reparable. It doesn't make sense to me. But the 2024 models are pretty snazzy! (And a lot more work to repair, i suppose.) Monster Scooter sells wheels. The photo shows one wheel but says the wheel "set" is $131. Is a "set" all three wheels? I love watching your videos! Thanks for sharing them!
Yeah I don't bother trying to repair the race bearings and just change out the housing or the whole piece at the end of the shaft if they go bad. The only bearings in the wheels are on the front not the rear. I do know the old chrome style wheels covers made an awful noise at times and that sounded like a bad bearing sound. I surprised that Golden said that the GC340 is no longer supported (parts wise) I'll have to check to see if there are any parts still available the next time, we call them. As for MSP, the $131 price sounds like it's for one wheel. Thanks for watching.
@@lasvegasscooterslifts Thank you. Yeh...Golden Tech referred me to Monster Scooter Parts for wheels. SO glad I didn't buy them!
@@lasvegasscooterslifts I'm curious what the difference is between the VA models and the others. Refurbished returns? (Mine is blue painted over red.)
I wish I had heard the noise it was making. I have an occasional grinding noise in mine that comes and goes. It seems to come from near the back left drivewheel. Could it be a brake brush?
I doubt it could be the brake but without hearing and looking at it I would say it could be the transaxle. If the noise comes and goes, if it's a bearing or a gear braking loose the noise should be more evident when turning or leaning in one direction that stresses the bearing or gear.
@@lasvegasscooterslifts A repair guy said it was drivewheel bearings, but (asked elsewhere) there aren't any bearings in the drivewheels, are there???
@@lasvegasscooterslifts Thank you. Wishing you the best of the best in the new year!
Same to you my friend.
Not In the rear wheels, no.
This looks easy peasy!
Just got to remember which way round it goes back in.
@@lasvegasscooterslifts I usually take pictures before disassembling anything. : )
I'm looking for a Hero for 2025. PLEASE answer this question for me: DO THE DRIVEWHEELS ON THE GOLDEN TECH GC-340 HAVE BEARINGS IN THEM?
Hi, the wheels themselves do not have any bearings in them but the transaxle does.
@lasvegasscooterslifts #$@?!@! I THOUGHT SO! The local guy (in Honolulu) who does repairs on VA scooters from Golden Tech said the noise was from wheel bearings and replaced all three wheels last year! The noise did go away for a while, but it's intermittently back. Golden Tech said my scooter (the pre 2024 model) is no longer repairable. Such BS. I took the wheels off, thinking I would find bearings, but of course I only found an axle with a key. I cleaned them up and greased them a little just to keep future repairs easy. Thanks again for your replies. I REALLY appreciate you!
I have a 2000 Legend (AU spec) with small rear springs but no shocks, they provide about an inch of movement. So Pride have certainly had some form of suspension for close to 25 years or longer. This machine has provided transport with minimum problems for all that time. The only issues have been batteries (on the 3rd set) and the on-board charger failed (rewired for an external charger). I am starting to see some electrical problems now. The throttle spring no longer retuns to centre and the brake slips on slopes. The trouble is getting parts, which is a pitty as the machine still has plenty of life in it. Love your videos, they are informative and entertaining.
Thanks, yes, the Legend and Legend XL are long gone for new replacement parts. The only parts you can get are going to be second hand or may be something that might be compatible from another scooter.
thanks for the video great fix 👍
Thanks Blue
Such a wonderful explanation. Thank you. A question can you attach a read view mirror and also a second basket on the back?
Thank you Jamie, Pride do make a rear-view mirror for straight handlebars Part Number ACC134496 but you have to chop off the end of the handlebar grip to attach it. You can get a single rear basket Part Number ACCBSKT1010 that fits in the accessory tube at the back of the seat. Will a gogo elete traveler motor brake fit gogo sport
No, the sport/traveller plus motor is bigger.
Love this guy I learn a lot from watching him bless you.
Thank you
Another good video, i noticed your batteries have a DANGER POISON sticker on them, I've never seen that on our batteries in Britain. Is drinking battery acid an American thing?
LOL I hope not. I think it's an ambulance chancing lawyer thing, manufactures have to cover all their bases.
My scooter s73 beeps 5 times has new motor & brake won’t move forward or back up
I would test the new brake and make sure it reads 49-54 ohm in the locked drive position if not the brake is faulty. Use the top two pins of the front to rear connector on the rear section to do the test. Also, it could be a damaged microswitch, check for continuity on the two wires going to the microswitch in the drive and freewheel position it should be OL in one position and connected circuit in the other position. Also check continuity from the microswitch to the rear pins. If everything reads ok, then you might have a wiring issue to the controller on the front section connectors to the controller or a controller issue.
Thank you
Merry Christmas and thanks for watching.
thank you ian for the video 👍
Thanks Blue, have a great Christmas and New Year
Hi Ian great video do you ever work on pride executive scooter? They are a great scooter Merry Christmas too you
Merry Christmas Darren, I haven't worked on one and they look very similar to the Pride Persuit over here. I'm sure I could figure them out easily enough.
Nice one Ian. Merry Xmas and a happy new year to you both.
Happ New Year to you both
How do you take the wheel off the rear got a new wheel and can’t get it off
You should remove the center nut, and the wheel should slide straight off. If it is stuck on there, tip the scooter on its side and try putting a small amount of penetrating spray where the nut was and the axle shaft. Loosely replace the nut and get someone to pull up on the wheel while tapping the nut to see if that can break it free. Be careful not to damage the threads on the axle shaft by hitting the nut to hard.
Hello. I've got a pride mobility scooter LX that does 4 mph. Is there a way to make it go faster
No, sorry they are programmed at 100% speed of 4mph
@lasvegasscooterslifts thank you for your reply
What does 6 beeps meam
On a Pride/go-go scooters a six-beep error code is the throttle not in center position when turning on the scooter. This normally occurs when you operate the throttle before turning the key on or a sudden drop in voltage and the system resets and you are still holding the throttle can bring on a six-beep code. Other scooter error codes could be something different
I've got a problem i can't seem to solve it find anyone doing a video on ,i must of watch 50 videos lol My father in laws sports rider mobility scooter,, when he releases the accelerator throttle to slow down the hole things just locks up instantly with a big jerk ,, it was doing it till i told him to stop riding it i had a look at most of the wires ND all the parts as best i could ND it seemed to go away but few days later ND it has returned,, I'm positive it's not mechanical, but electric ND that's not my best skill haha If any one has any advice any lol I'm ready to listen
See your other comment for the reply.
I look after my stepdads sports rider scooter, ND I've done almost everything on it ,, But it's has started to act weird when I release the accelerator the brakes almost instantly locks up ,, I pulled it all apart ND checked everything I could ND it worked ok for week but seems to have come back ,, my step dad also said that when his accelerating now the voltage is surging higher,, , I've been looking everywhere for info but I'm lost Lol ,, I'm hoping someone here may have had similar experiences
Sound like electronic brake failing to me that's attached to the motor. that would be the first place I would look. If the brake isn't automatically disengaging and is staying locked on the power will be reduced and the motor will be getting hot from resistance from the brake. Try putting your hand on the brake lever located on the motor and see if you can feel a distinct click and movement in the brake handle. If it was a wiring issue the system should report a brake error. If not, it might be the hub brakes looked on.
Hi mate thanks for getting back to me 😊,, I can eliminate the second brake you activate with your hand on the handle bar's, I took so that of me tested it ,, ND I've tested the electronic brake also that is working fine , the potentiometer is all in correct order, I've gone over almost all the wiring to and all appears to be connected nicely ND clean ,, The batterys are good to I've not been able to check the control box as I'm not up to skill on that yet and I've not checked the motor properly either, the brushs I need to check . Am I correct that the motor slows the scooter and the electric brake turns on once stopped ND hold the scooter still like a handbrake,, Ty again for responding as is been doing my head in last couple of days lol
Yes normally the motor will reduce the speed slightly and then the EMB will lock the motor to stop the scooter. Even though the brake might be working ok and not giving any errors, if its worn and loose it can stop the brake from releasing correctly giving you the problems you are saying. Also wiring could still be a candidate, even if you test each wire for continuity and they are ok I would move the harness while testing to make sure there is no wear or broken wires or bad connections in any of plugs and harness.
Very entertaining. What is a Brushless Motor and How do they work?
There are a few benefits with brushless motors where it comes to size, and speed. There is great explanation on Wikipedia regarding the differences between brushed and brushless motors. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brushless_DC_electric_motor
Thank you Ian, Nice job be lucky.
Thanks 👍
thanks for the video

Where can i get the washer?
If you are asking about a washer for the transaxle, try hunting around your local hardware store see if they have anything or try an auto parts oil drain plug washer see if they have anything that fits.
Fantastic review kind regards from Uk and have a blessed Christmas sir!
Thanks, you too!
I come to realize the formula in my previous comment is not even close as you stated . The Yuasa brand batteries that are most often use in my ATV/UTV service business do display AH and CCA both so you can look them up on parts websites to get reliable AH to CCA ratings . These numbers should be a good reference for most brands . I did not notice this at first because my attention was mainly with AH until I got my BT200 tester .Example Yuasa AGM 18AH - 270CCA
Hi Keith, even 270cca seems high to what I see when I'm testing 18AH batteries (170- 185CCA) I wonder if the Yuasa are not deep cycle and are starter batteries that's why they have a higher CCA. Keep posting your results with the BT200 it's good to compare.
Any way to make the Victory 10 a bit faster?
No, the only way you could make it go faster is change out the controller, wiring and top console and wider rear transaxle from a victory 10 sport which goes 8mph. I would just buy a victory LX sport or something like that if I needed faster speeds.
What grade incline can this handle? What about bumpy grass?
Maximum incline is 6° (10.5%) and we don't recommend grass sand or mud paths for any mobility scooters. Anything other than a smooth surface or well compacted gravel paths. This style of scooters is a mobility device to aid with walking. For other situations we recommend a larger recreational scooter with a higher ground clearance and more robust drive system to cope with different styles of terrain.
I found a formula for conversion , AH x 7.2 = CCA
Yeah, I saw that too and I tried it and is way off, for e.g. 12ah x 7.2 - 86.4 CCA and most new 12ah batteries I've tested read about 165CCA. So far I'm getting good results with the follow 12ah 165CCA 18ah 180CCA 35AH 210 - 230 CCA 40AH 235 -240 CCA 55AH I'm still testing
