Hey guys, really funny introduction for this Nintendo episode lol. Glad Switch 2 it's finally announced, mostly for Andrew which it's notoriously excited about it. Hope you will enjoy it as same or more as its predecessor! I don't know anything about what it's Nintendo planning for it, but for what you guys are talking about June seems to be the right time for the release. And let's see if we get more news in the near future, i'm curious about any gameplay or something running on this new console.
Daniel really took my by surprise with that intro lol. also, there is no way i WON'T enjoy the Switch 2 as much as the current Switch! being able to bring my current game collection over is huge. and yeah, at this point, its just seeing the games made for the system. I WANT TO SEE THE GAMES!
i'm glad they finally show us something for nintendo switch 2, after so much time being in the shadows. but sadly i'm not too optimistic about being released on june, i hope i'm wrong but probably it's going to be out by the end of this year.
woah, end of year!! just curious, what makes you think Nintendo is leaning towards Sept - Oct? Also, yes, it was so nice for the dam to finally break and get REAL INFO on this thing!
I'm curious about what kind of specifications it will have! I'm looking forward to the day we can learn more details.
me too! considering the Switch hardware is 10 years old at this point, i think the leap between the two is going to be IMMENSE.
Well, I would say that's a corridor game, yes, but not a linear one, let me explain The scenario and the goals are indeed presented as linear : you have to do a pilgrimage, and you have to do it the fastest possible. Because of Sin roaming and wreaking havoc, you don't have the luxury to backtrack and so the characters already planned the journey for that purpose The normal pilgrimage would be : - Besaid (Valefore) - Boat > Kilika (Ifrit) - Boat > Luca (Blitzball) - Mi'ihen road > Djose (Ixion) - Selenos > Guadosalam > Thunder plains > Macalania (Shiva) - Bevelle (Bahamut) - Calm lands > Gagazet > Zanarkand (Final Aeon) - Calm lands (defeat Sin) But, in fact, the game break that linearity with many interludes : - Sin's attack on the first boat trip to Kilika - The blitzball cup, Yuna being abudcted and the monsters attack in Luca - The Mi'ihen operation in Mi'ihen - Yuna being kidnapped, the farplane, Seymour's proposal and fight in Selenos/Guadosalam/Macalania - The entire Sanubia, Home, Wedding, Via Purifico, and Bevelle's escape sections/scenes/moments - Beating Yunalesca, beating Sin and so on until the end And, to be fair, it would be useless to go in some cities sooner than the game wants to. Because one, there is only a few town in that game, and two, because you'll get nothing of it (unlike other games, later weapons/armors do not give you better stat and most vendors sell the same things) But yeah, the game itself is really a corridor during 90% of the story. But, for me, it never was a con or a flaw (and the opposite (open world) a pro or a quality)
very fair assessment, and i love the distinction between a "corridor" game and a linear game. i think more than anything i just want the CHOICE to go to towns out of order (thinking back to my playthrough of the Pixel Remasters), but you're right, it wouldn't make much point in going to them prior to the story beats. thank you for giving me your breakdown!
I have never seen Nidoking's back sprite in FRLG. I wish this was still the case
had me shook. business up front, horrible abomination in the back.
40:10 Yesss, talk to me about Xenoblade Chronicles 2! I don't know who Daniel is, but I'm sure doing a video while the experience is still fresh in your mind would be a good idea. If you really want to, you can do a video with Daniel on it later too! (Seeing these un-nicknamed Pokemon is so refreshing.)
i will be sure to get my thoughts EXTRA organized for this one - i know XC2 is one of your favs! i just can't bring myself to nickname these little guys. who am i to do so!?
Haha, no pressure from my end. I love discourse about the good, the bad, and the ugly!
it’s fine line, giving honest feedback vs unbridled criticism lol.
Awesome
hahahahaha thanks mom
New contents! Lets'go!
LOL. trying to get back into it, hoping to get a VOD up at least every other day (maybe more?) and an Upstairs Only Game Talk episode once a week. FINGERS CROSSED!
So characters you would like you see in the new roster?
Maybe Sonic.
Would love to see some Ghost Trick representation in the line up!
@@UpstairsDownstairsGameTalk Possible.
The new Switch 2 has been officially announced. So maybe this year we might see a new PXZ reveal since 2025 will be Namco X Capcom's 20th anniversary.
Possible.
that's the dream! i know there is speculation about what existing 3rd Party titles might be coming to the new system, but i'm even more curious to see what might be made specifically for the Switch 2 by 3rd Parties.
@@UpstairsDownstairsGameTalk Guest characters from the Nintendo world?
i liked emio, it's such a good game. batman arkham series were games i loved because of how they managed the detective aspect, aside all the other stuff.
i loved the Akrham games as well - i'm an old man, so Asylum is my favorite, but i think they each bring their own strengths to the series.
I don't play detective games often, but I really liked Murdered Soul Suspect, how you have to solve the mystery behind your own murder and the gameplay, really enjoyed it. I even did the platinum of that game.
i had to look it up to remind myself of the game, but i REALLY enjoyed Murdered Soul Suspect - a really unique experience!
Although I haven't play too many detective games, really like the genre. Happy to see how this thing about playing the game which the other liked the most and having a second opinion it's very good. All in all, both games are good and glad there weren't any thumbs down for any of those. Hopefully you kept this format for more other games. One of the games I remembered playing it and having a lot of fun with it it's L.A. Noire, made by Rockstar Games. It is really good, and the ambience it has was the thing I liked the most. As always, great episode!
L.A. Noire is a classic! and yeah, hopefully we can continue to do this for other games!
I've played RE2 just with Claire and watched a playthrough of the other character, I think Claire has the best gameplay. RE is my favourite franchise, hope you play the rest of the games and have fun with them. One of my resolutions for 2025 is upgrade my PC, recently had issues with my video card and will have to buy a better one, which I previously was planning to do anyways.
i will DEFINITELY continue with the RE games! really solid narrative and story telling, looking forward in whats to come! hope you are able to make those upgrades - my PC died last year and i ended up just getting a laptop, but part of me wishes i fought through the tech and kept the old machine alive.
re2 remake hasn't even close to what the og was, but that doesn't mean it is bad, the remake itself it's a very enjoyable experience, and one of the best remakes done to old games imo. this yeah i hope to finish some games which i started but never finished and play some others which i haven't the chance to play yet, black myth wukong for example.
yeah, i really wish i had a point of reference to compare the RE2 remake to the original experience, but for now i'm satisfied just playing what is accessible. let us know what you think of Black Myth Wukong, heard very mixed reviews but it looks like a solid experience!
Hi guys, the starting premise was very nostalgic, when Andrew named Tony Hawk's games the other one which instantly came to my mind was Colin McRae's rally games with a lot of others games of that time, very good ones. UFO50 looks so cool, I have no idea about anything about what Daniel talked, the story behind the game is fantastic, and how they delevop it for so long really deserved some more attention, at least for people who loves games. I'm glad Andrew played RE2 and enjoyed it, personally for me it's the one that made me like the entire series along with the original RE3 for PS1, RE2 Remake was a wonderful job, hope you keep going playing the series so you talk about your impressions from the other ones. As for 2025 I didn't put myself into something specific I wanted to do, but I hope first off to get a better PC so I can play more recently games without being worry about some requirements and stuff like that, and get to play some games which I didn't yet and would love to, RE games included there aswell :). I personally wish you both the best for this new year and hope you keep doing this for so much more time, I can see you enjoy to do this together and you are doing it great!
hey Diego, as always I appreciate the kind words and great feedback! I hope you are able to acquire that PC - i ended up settling for a laptop (trying to build my own was too overwhelming lol) but even a mid range machine can usually provide you with a solid gaming experience. Happy New Year!
Happy New Year! I am very interested in UFO50. For now, I have added it to my wishlist. As for 2025... well, it's difficult to have a clear goal. If I had to say, I want to play a variety of games more than last year. For better or worse, I tend to spend a lot of time on a single game.
i can be the same way - currently playing through Xenoblade Chronicles 3 (last one i need to play before X releases in March) and i KNOW i'm just going to be living in this world for two months lol. i hope you're able to achieve your goal, keep us posted on what you're playing!
I want this to be right.
i WANT to believe lol.
Good to see you are back guys! Algorithm didn't show me this episode, so watching it now. Hope you a great time and happy holidays c:
Glad you're here man, we’re pumped at getting back into it - and happy holidays to you too!
Hi guys, It's been a while since I've watched your last video, glad you're back ! I know of a game a friend played which was Christmas theme but with an horror aspect called Crimson Snow released in 2023, worth to check it out if you're a fan of the horror genre. About TGA, it was a huge surprise some of them announcements indeed, for me it was The Witcher 4 and Elden Ring Nightrein. Hope you guys doing great, wish you a merry christmas and a happy holidays.
I like Final Fantasy but I didn't play them all, but I like what you talked about XII hopefully some day will try it too.
it think it’s def worth a try - i have a LOT of criticisms of the game, but i am ultimately glad i gave it a shot b
have to agreed with Andrew, TGA wasn't any closer the best as I've saw people commenting over there. also really interested in watching Daniel reviewing Mouthwashing some other time. wishing a merry christmas to y'all.
Merry Christmas! and yeah, it was a weak show but the announcements were solid (good announcements do not a good award show make though lol). really hoping daniel checks out Mouthwashing!
My comment is being deleted by AI. I don't know what's wrong.
this one came through!
@@UpstairsDownstairsGameTalk Delivered directly.
no worries!
good to see you coming back after some time, from what i could watch of mh's new game it looks promising, they seem have improved much more from its predecessor. definitely will be waiting for its release in the future.
thank you! and yeah, idk if the adaption of the Resident Evil engine played into allowing for a more “open” concept, but i think we’re looking at the best Monster Hunter yet.
Emulation may lack the authentic feeling of playing games on a decade old handheld or a console on Crts but it is surely a gift to the gaming word beside preserving thousands of old titles of various console one can play the early 3d games on hd or 4k with smooth 60 or og 30 however you wanna set the game up according to your liking its a whole another world in itself well I won't spoil more things about Emulation for you, anyone interested would surely deep dive into the world of Emulation.
Emulation 100% has value - I've dabbled with it a little bit (primarily on my phone and PC) and it just has never clicked. I do think it is a valuable resource though.
Welcome back! I’ve been waiting for you! The new Monster Hunter game sounds promising from what I’ve heard about its development. And I’m looking forward to FF12 because it has one of my favorite systems. It’s like an evolution of FF11’s combat into a single-player game, and I remember having a lot of fun with it.
thank you for the kind words, sorry to have been away! we will try to communicate some notice next time! just slight spoilers: i feel very mixed on FF12. interested to read your response next week!
As much as I'd love this, including Monster Hunter Stories instantly sets off red flags to this being fake.
probably so, but it'll be great if it happens!
Switch 2 S2 2S 2 Screens This is my hope and cope 🙏 I miss 2 screen gaming so much. The DS and Wii U were ahead of their time.
SAME. ITS WHAT I WANT.
I'm a fan of horror games and usually don't get scared of any of them, but I do was scared of playing Subnautica, first time went in spoilers free and at some point I was looking for resources and heard a very loud roar and in this moment I proceeded to close the game. Mostly because I have fear to the sea, but a few months ago tried it out again and could finish it, was so happy about it.
fates or orc seems interesting for me, sounds like a game i would like for sure; also eow it's pretty good, although imo combat it's a bit slow sometimes but so far it's okay.
Thank you for week!
Good episode guys! I don't remember exactly which one was my first game that I was afraid to finish off because I was scared, maybe was either RE2 or Silent Hill from PS1, but I do know which one I didn't finish nowadays because of that, and it is Subnautica. Games' push my talassophobia really hard, not gonna lie I've always think of coming back and finish it, but the sensation of feeling that fear it just stressing me out pretty quick. About Echoes of Wisdom, glad Andrew enjoyed it but from what was his review I feel that they could make it better for what those series really deserved. Also, while Daniel talked about the game he played, came out to my mind Superhot too, very smart idea for a game to make it fun imo.
I like Resident Evil games, my favourites are 7 and Village so I totally recommend you to play them if you don't yet.
i’m working on them now! have played the first one, now going through RE2 Remake, it’s SO GOOD.
deadlock it's similar as lol, smite and dota 2 but with a third-person perspective. tried it out with some friends, it's fun but it's not special, at least at its current state obviously. hopefully the guys developing mgs3 do that as for silent hill 2, have some expectactions about it.
ah, that makes more sense - i had heard it was moba like but only seeing still screen shots didn't really do it justice. thank you for explaining!
Hi guys, great to see you are coming back with the podcast! I'm agree with Andrew about TLOTR games on PS2, played them and remember that same feeling about it, those games were amazing and deserved being brought back at some point for new generations. As for F-Zero games, I don't remember they were as bad as you described but didn't play it enough so probably you are right. I personally think Silent Hill games are really awesome and deserved being brought back, every of them not just SH2, especially SH3 (my favourite) and SH4 The Room as for the theme of this episode c:
man, with F-Zero, it can definitely be a skill issue thing - coming off Mario Kart and going into F-Zero, i just don't think the gameplay styles translate and maybe i'm not patient enough for the learning curve lol. also, glad to hear there is another LoTR Game fan out there!
Yeah they announced that no sims 5 in the works, it’s just sims 4 that will be continuously updated
The Sims 4(Ever)
"Project X Zone 3" isn't happening. Nobody played the first two, let alone enjoyed them. Just saying.
we'll see!
I have a smaller gem perfect for y’all: five nights at Freddy’s
thinking about playing the one that just came out, Into the Pit? the playstyle seems more in line with what i enjoy.
I like Golfinite, game looks fun and a bit cozy. Thanks for your recommendations.
of course, thank you for tuning in!
didn't know about any of those games, i've definitely missed them. thanks for sharing them, now they are wishlisted.
of course, thanks for giving this a watch!
I am interested in both! I love CAMELOT games too! Especially Golden Sun is memorable with Golden Sun and recently played and completed it again!
I LOVE GOLDEN SUN! so glad it came to NSO!
Hi guys, good recommendations! I really liked CrossCode, games' looks awesome, back in the day I've used to play more jrpgs than today, this one seems fun!
yeah, i try and keep up with some JRPG's but they are so time consuming! you really have to commit!
All good games, didn't have the chance to try it out all of them but the sonic game, it's just fantastic c:
thanks for your recommendations, no case should remain unsolved seems good and now it's in my wishlist.
Thanks!
Hiiiiiiii
I agree completely. I did grow up with 2D gaming, but I agree not because of that. I agree that so called limitlessness is overwhelming. I prefer boundaries while allowing for creativity. I felt like that with Far Cry 3 & 4. You could come up with lots of creative things to do when infiltrating enemy bases, but it encouraged you to figure out the best method to handle it otherwise you would probably get yourself killed.
wishlisting metaphor: refantazio, game looks pretty good.
Love this type of games, rpgs are one of my favourites genre of videogames for sure! Geneforge 2 Infestation reminded me to some games I used to play when I was a kid, so much nostalgia there :D
Thanks again for your help this week.👍
