This system is also very effective for World Archery Barebow archers. I have used this system to coach archers to multiple national championships and USA teams.

finger sling method for Olympic Recurve

This is the best method i have found for applying the finger sling. I have used this method for years. It will hold snug, but not cut off any circulation in the fingers, and will not loosen and fall off the finger. It holds perfectly at the right amount of tension. I teach all my recurve students this method. While it looks difficult at first, it is very easy, and you can put it on faster than ...

    This makes complete sense. Last winter the moment I was in alignmentment (cognitively thought about it without knowing much about archery technique), I started shooting straight and accurate. It feels secure, stable, and easy. Using the skeleton instead of muscles.

    One of the best series I have seen on the subject of recurve bow tuning. My first recurve bow is being shipped as I write this. This video helped me to at least understand what I need to do and how to do it, to get my bow to the point where I can shoot some arrows and start working on form - which I will do mostly at 20 yards until I can get some decent groups. Then down the road a bit I can take on the micro tuning parts of this series. Great stuff.

    HiChris, I have been shooting mk korea for 5 years. You say they recommend an even tiller. I shot an even tiller for a couple of weeks but went back to a positive tiller of 4mm. The bow sounds much happier. My coach has never heard of a company recommending an even tiller. They don't say anything about it in the manual. Would you have any technical info on this or know where I could go to find our about it. Thanks

      if you bow shoots better with positive tiller, then shoot with positive tiller. Some tiller is riser dependent. The MK Alpha riser had a positive tiller recommendation. But its geometry was different from the MK X10 riser.

    WTF.... In the 1980's, everyone just used a piece of 11 x .5 soft leather with two .5 cuts made in it and the ends were fed thru to form 2 loops. There are YT video's on them. Once on, you really only had to worry about place a loop over one finger, it would just hang from the other when not needed.

    Chris thanks for sharing your seminar. I have watched it multiple times and successfully started to apply today. I love the idea of focusing on alignment and then face to string however I am struggling with consistently finding my jaw and nose that means the shots don’t always flow. Do you have any suggestions?

    • @ChrisHillOlympicRecurveArchery
      @ChrisHillOlympicRecurveArchery 9 місяців тому

      dont worry about finding your jaw or finding your anchor. Anchor is mostly overrated in the overall steps of the shot. Once you can draw to a consistent alignment, the right anchor will happen and you won thave to think about it other than head position.

    Hey Chris thanks for the amazing videos. Quick question for you. I've been shooting for about a year, and just watched your video and realized that my bow string is clockwise, (but I'm a left handed shooter) so it should be counter-clock wise. should I undo my string and retwist it? or is it better to just buy a new string and start over?

    • @ChrisHillOlympicRecurveArchery

      i wouldnt worry too much about the direction of the twist. The string will shoot fine twisted either way.

    KSL Was sent to the USA to further destroy it but Brady Ellison came along, a guy who could shoot arrows out of his butt and get eXes.... If you mention anything about KSL to the Silver & Bronze guys they flip out. If I were able to score enough to get on the US Olympic team only to have the coach tell me that, "That's not the way, this is the way!" I'd be like not even listening to him. Why can't any of the US people watch these Korean videos on youtube? I had a car, the CE light stayed on, got a code that was non specific. Went on YT and searched for it, this guy figured it out for Honda Accords and it came down to a canister in the rear wheel well for emissions, fixed that day for free. UA-cam is how I managed to see your video and thank you!

      your arrows are probably not spined for your poundage and release if the sight is that far off. Tuning only works if the arrows are ballpark spined correctly.

      i have 29 inch draw, 42# at clicker and shoot a 500 spine. A 400 spine would be around 50-52# draw weight. I shot 54# at 380 spine. At 48# i shot 450 spine. Your arrows are stiff for your poundage and draw as a general rule.

    As you have access to low poundage recurve limbs, would you please do an experiment. Use a 29" carbon arrow of about 220 grains total weight and a 68" bow with a 28" draw. What is the max distance that can be achieved using a sight set down to max for 90m and 14, 16, 18, 20lb limbs. The old rule of thumb for a 36lb bow to reach 70m might just be a very old rule of thumb. Alternately could you shoot a 220 grain arrow over a chronograph with the various limb poundages and give the speeds.

    • @ChrisHillOlympicRecurveArchery
      @ChrisHillOlympicRecurveArchery Рік тому

      you can shoot a super light arrow and reach 70 meters. But only on a windless day. Once the wind starts up, your very light poundage and very light arrow wont hit anything at 70 meters. To be accurate and competitive, you need 36-42 lbs for 70 meters. And 45-48 for 90 meters.

    Thank you for the video. I just had a guy at a certain archery supplier tell me that it is not possible to have everything lined up and then drift after shooting. I think the weaker ILF limbs have a tendency to warp with tension and slowly work the string to one side, thereby twisting the limbs even more to that direction. Good video for parents trying to set the young archers up for success. Even more expensive limbs can do this,especially when the are light poundage. Have you ever tried to adjust twist? like the system in the new Hoyts? I'm thing that rigging some thin shims under the limbs may work, maybe thin aluminum flashing.

    • @ChrisHillOlympicRecurveArchery
      @ChrisHillOlympicRecurveArchery 2 роки тому

      i have done some shimming but usually with the cheaper starter bows, there is only so much you can do. And the kids outgrow them so fast, its not worth much time spent on it. Most of the time should be spent on them shooting.

    Hi Chris! The part where the Korean archer pretty much lower their shoulder a bit and then release…you said it would be perfect for barebow to use as a clicker. Can you please explain to me because I’m a barebow archer..is that when you expand and lower your shoulder just like the Korean archers…do they simultaneously pull back when they do that? I would love to use this in my shot process! Thanks

    • @ChrisHillOlympicRecurveArchery

    Hi, very interesting stuff! I'm new to the recurve bow, and I'm trying to improve my compound draw. All you discussed is very logic but I'm wondering how does it apply or how is it not applicable to compound bows (hunting & target) Thanks for the great content!

    • @ChrisHillOlympicRecurveArchery
      @ChrisHillOlympicRecurveArchery 2 роки тому

      HI, compound is a different draw in a way, an opposite one. So draw method is different. With compound the heavy load is in the beginning of the draw and then becomes lighter as you come to full draw and the wall of the bow. Recurve starts out light and the draw load becomes heavier as you full further back. So the form for each dealing with the load is different.

      Hi, a turn is a full 360 degree spin of the tiller bolt. From 12 o'clock to 12 o'clock. A quarter turn is from 12 o'clock to 3 o'clock position. So one turn is one full 360 degree go around.

    I was laughing in the beginning when he said that blind people don't aim. Watch the aiming process of blind archers sometimes, that said yes archery is not an aiming sport, it is a form sport, and to be successful it requires a lot of practice and consistency.
