My Compact Sony Camera Setup!? 📸
No, this is not another Fuji or Leica video... I share with you why it's great to have a compact camera setup that you can take with you wherever you go! Also what my setup is, which includes the Sony A7c.

SHOULD YOU UPGRADE TO THE SONY A7CII & A7CR?? 📸 | Is it too EXPENSIVE?! 💸

My thoughts on the upcoming A7CII & the A7CR, will they be good enough for you to consider an upgrade or stick to what you have. Will they be too expensive and miss their target market? Leaks Credit to Andrea Pazzini Photography: www.youtube.com/@andreapizziniphotography

Video looks like shit
What's up Nick. I'm thinking of buying one of these would you recommend it?
Hey man, this was the very first version which I enjoyed, I’ve heard great things about the DJI Osmo Pocket 3🙌 I would have one myself if I had the cash ha ha Great for vlogging being nice and steady too. I wouldn’t recommend it for professional level work though… All depends on what you use it for in the end👌
@@simplynickza3583 I'd also love to get the pocket 3 but south Africa's economy 😓. I was thinking of getting the pocket 1 for working as social media manager videos. Fortunately I have a camera I'll use for pictures, just need something for video's
That thing is beat up. Why is it glossy
What ya mean glossy? lol 😜
@@simplynickza3583 the matte finish is gone
Can you suggest me some lens for the a7c for video work in wedding..... Please😢😢
Really depends what you need and budget too, a great one would be Tamron 17-28 with the 28- 75 f2.8. That’s would comer all your weeding needs. Unless you want to shoot primes. 👍
@@simplynickza3583 thank you very much .....♥️♥️
Do you remember the settings you shot for this to get the slow motionso smooth? Its so good.
Yeah generally would be 60fps so shutter would be around 30, aperture 2.8 and iso would be as low as I could explode for while still having a good image, think I had an variable ND on for these. Hope that helps ☺️
Literally just placed an order for one of these. Super excited. Great video!
Ah awesome, I hope you enjoy it! ✌️
Awful color correction
😂🤙

Awesome shot 🔥🔥🔥
I like the way you make your video! Great Job! hopefully you can have a tutorial regarding shooting s-log and how you can color grade. A lot of creator like myself will benefit from it! You got my sub! 🎉
I was looking into cameras specially the osmo pocket 3 and your video got recommended!
Ah thank you🙏 I was looking for a video idea so will be happy to share how I work with S log. I keep it very simple ☺️🙌 #comingsoon
Your lense choices tells you're professional and experienced because amateurs buy all the lenses they can find, professionals only use 2 lenses and your 17-28 and 28-75 f.2.8 are ideal focal lengths for any situation. Add to this your decision and advice for repairing the camera and it makes this video the best I've seen on the subject of equipment.
Thank you for the kind comment🙏
I'm planning to buy Sony A7 iii. Is it worth in 2023 ?. Is ot good for low light photography? A7 iv is bit expensive for me. For taking pictures
Yup, still a great camera. The main reason I would say you would have to upgrade would be for video features. In terms of photography it deff still hold up 🙌
My camera today :)
Still a great camera, enjoy it 🙌
I also have the A7 IV and was thinking about adding the A7C, just like you & using it as a everyday, always on me camera. Everyone bills the A7C as being so small, but I am reasoning apart from the EVF being in-body as opposed to on top and the A7 IV having a more substantial & comfortable hand grip it doesn’t seem to be that much smaller than the A7IV. As I see you whip the A7C out of your hoodie pocket (1:34) I’ll still ask, now that you have had both for a little while do you take the A7C places where you would not have taken your A7 IV? Is it really small enough to be an everyday/always on you camera? Is the size difference enough of a separator where you don’t feel like the A7C is redundant?
Of paired with a small enough lens it really is quite compact. I’ve started noticing that it’s not quite doom it for me in terms of video after the A7iv. 10 bit really makes a difference. So if it’s just photos then yeah it’s great! When it comes to video, I find myself wishing I had the A7iv with me 😅 So the A7cII would basically solve that 🙌
I love this attitude. It’s refreshing to hear versus the constant push to upgrade from a camera that was “the best” mere moments ago
Thank you🔥
I'm a beginner photographer, I have never owned a camera myself but I have experience with dlsr's from school over these past years. I just finished high school and I would love to get a bit more serious with photography as it has always been an interest. I'm thinking of asking my parents to help fund a camera setup for my birthday/christmas (my birthday is close to christmas so I can usually have a big ask for the year) I would like to eventually start photography as a side hustle so I was thinking of going high end immediately rather than start off with something small. Would you recommend this camera?
That’s awesome, this is an amazing camera. There are more budget friendly options if that’s an issue but if you are looking at getting involved in video work too then this would be an excellent option. If the price is something that’s within budget then go for it but remember you will also need some decent lens options. So you can always find somthing cheaper and invest in lenses. Camera bodies get updated a lot but a good lens will last you ages!
@@simplynickza3583 thanks so much for your advice, earnt a sub!
thank you for sum up, I think A7iii is still overkill for most of the users, it is an excellent camera :) How did its shutter replacement go? How much it was? thanks
Anything that’s come out recently is more than enough for most people I think, unless you’re looking for the best and need the best. Shutter replacement went well, it was in the range of 500$ when I convert it. Came with a 6 month warranty too. Camera works just great again 🙏
I've been doing photography for 45 years as an amateur. I've ordered the A7CR to see how it compares to my A7R5 camera. At this point, smaller and lighter are definite pluses.
I think after doing it for so long you learn to appreciate a more compact setup as long as it is similar capabilities. It really is crazy how far we have come from the bulky DSLR cameras ☺️ Enjoy the new camera 🙌
You buy a new lens for €3000 and it crops in on 60p disgusting most smartphones shoot 60p I think it’s a joke that Sony bring out a new camera that crops your 60p footage.Would not buy another Sony Camera or lens .
The crop isn’t ideal for sure but if you’re paying that much for a lens might as well get the A7sIII without the crop for video☺️ Again Sony isn’t for everyone and there are many choices out there these days 🙌
I think that compact camera is a must, whether it is the A7C full frame lineup or the a6000 series. I have the A7R3 for specific work, but the a6600/6700 is my go-to camera for get togethers or traveling. They also don't bring attention to themselves due to their small size. Most of the stuff I do is stills. Been doing that since the 1970s. Very good video on why have a compact camera with a few compact lenses.
The A6000 series is a great choice too for casual shooting🙌 So small and compact, just making everything simpler, a great choice 🤙

Pretty Cool your video, mate!! Keep doing it =]
Thanks man, appreciate the support 😬🙌
You are underrated by UA-cam, i hope you grow fast
Ah thank you ☺️🙌
great break down. Thank you!
No problem😬 Glad you enjoyed the video 🙏
Enjoyed your video and recommendations for a compact Sony setup. Looks like you published this video right before the new A7CII and A7CR came out. Are you upgrading?
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it. I think I will upgrade eventually yes. As I mentioned I have the A7iv and would love the A7cII to complement that for shoots and be able to have all the video specs of the A7iv in the smaller body. So I will probably sell my A7III & A7c towards the end of the year and get the A7cII ☺️ Mainly for the 10 bit video 🙌
I love the compact camera and lenses. Great composition on your photos as well
Ah thank you so much😁 Yeah it really does just make things easy and fun again 🙌
UPDATE: I thought this video was posted today, August 29, 2023 when they where revealed along w/pricing haha I feel that it should’ve been priced at $1,999. At its current price point I would just spend the extra $200 for the A7iv. The reason I believe they didn’t price it at $1,999 is because the A7iii is at $1,999, which means they would need to lower the price of the A7iii which they don’t want to.
Ha ha sorry man I based this on the leaks of the camera at the time. They were pretty spot on in terms of specs ect though. Yeah I guess the more models you have out the tougher is gets to price them as you don’t want to alienate another camera you sell 😅
I would never buy the camera that didn’t have the EVF in the center… Never ever ever. Such a stupid design.
ha ha yeah I know a few people who feel that way. Each to their own, I feel you can get used to anything if you really wanted to. We have such a great amount of options though so you will never have to😁
I would love to see how you have your settings set up just to get an idea of what I should go for. Will be shooting wedding events but also working with artists shooting music videos. Any tips?
Hey man, so very simple setup, I have two custom presets. One 24 fps 4k generally for the longer speeches or ceremony. Then one 60fps 1080p for any slow motion/ cinematic shots I will get. Adjust WB on the fly and both setup to PP1 for an easy colour grade ☺️
Nick, I don't know that I need (or can afford) the Sony A7CR, but I have the Sony A7C and thinking about having that as the backup camera, and getting the Sony A7Cii. If it comes in at like $2200 I am in - $2400-2500 I think I would rather do the A74.
Yeah sounds good!! I’m really hoping it comes in just under the A7iv so holding thumbs! I would maybe wait for a few reviews too, just to see how it performs and see if there are any overheating issues😀
Nice review sir, thank u❤👍
Thank you, I hope it was helpful 😀
I use the Sony A7iii for video, and I am thinking of upgrading to the Sony A7IV mainly for the advancement of the Autofocus. Will you do a video dedicated to this? I will admit that I am a little lazy regarding video, as it's a skill I am learning on the fly.
It will be well worth the upgrade🙌 maybe wait and see what the A7cII has to offer Vs the A7iv before you make a decision. Also you deff need to take advantage of the s log profiles after you upgrade to get the heat out of your footage and dynamic range. The you will see the massive improvement from the A7III to the A7iv ☺️
Hi, how many shutter count does your a7iii before it failed?
I used it heavily for about 4 years sooo plenty! I don’t have an exact number but I do know some failed sooner than others so it really could have been a matter of luck tbh. Best to just be insured against it. I do think UA-cam has made this sound like a more common issue than it actually is though ☺️
Thanks for this Nick, have had the A7iii few years now, needs a new LCD but still love it, recently acquired the A7C, love that sooo much, looking at the A7IV, do I need it, Noooo, would I like it, Ohhh yess. All the best, Like your delivery, stay cool.
Ah thank you🙌 Ha ha yeah it’s not often we need new but if you can afford to why not right 😬 It can also help encourage you to shoot more and learn more with some new gear every now and then too. If you shoot any video the A7iv is a well worth upgrade though! ✌️
Did you considered the 40mm 2.5 G as well? If so, curious as to why you decided on the 50 vs the 40.
I have heard great things about the 40mm but I found the 50mm 2nd hand and half the price☺️ I also really enjoy the 50mm focal length as it has so many uses. I will be making a video about this setup soon along with some photos I’ve taken so far. With all my reasons and use cases🙌
Will you get the new A7C2 when it is released?
Ha ha another video I’m looking to make soon, I would love to upgrade to the A7c II if it has certain video features and depending of the small body will manage all that power without overheating. A few things Sony have struggled with before. Will drop a vid with all the reasons and things I’m looking for soon ☺️ Thanks for the comments and questions🙏
@@simplynickza3583 it will most likely have the 10bit 4:2:2 you’re looking for, better AI driven AF, and a front dial. But it’ll likely have worst battery life and heat management than the A7c original. But the real dilemma is A7C2 or A7CR?
Nice 🎉 I have A7C

Felicidades! Excelente vídeo, ¿qué lentes usaste?
Thank you🙏 Mostly the Tamron 28-75 2.8🔥 If I need to go wide I will use the Tamron 17-28 2.8 too☺️
Pretty cool. What do you set your zebras at?
That’s quite tough. It depends what you’re exposing for. I would set up two zebra custom presets. One to expose for the BG and another if you’re exposing for a person or shooting yourself. Zebras are a great way of seeing that your face/skin is properly exposed by selecting around 65+ in the min range. Then exposing for the BG is a bit simpler and more forgiving. This I would just shoot around the 95/100 mark to make sure nothing clips☺️ Hope that answers your question 🙌
I just bought an a7c and the lcd screen looks a little bit pink. And when I see my photos in the vf I see them ok. Is this normal in this camera?
I haven’t experienced anything like that before. If it’s not affecting your final images then it might be an LCD issue or bad copy. If you just got it I would take it back and get it checked against another copy just to be sure. Generally the Sony cameras lean more towards the green side of the spectrum.

I got my first wedding coming up. Im rather nervous. Thanks for the video!
Congrats man, you will do great. Just make a note of the key shots you need to get and then the rest you can just be creative and enjoy it🙌 Good luck!! 📸

Hey, congratulations on your first wedding video! You did an amazing job. The footage looks stunning and the quality really shows off your skill with the Sony A7c. Keep up the great work!
