What is the World's Largest Indoor Stadium?
Its been around for 111 years
Awesome! Next, Cosmic Kickball!!
Imagine other sports playing cosmic ideas
As a kid we played like that without the glow. Anything to stay outside
COLONIAL HEIGHTS, VA!!!! Whooo hooo!!!
That looks like fun as hell
Two things: First I love how even the umpires are in on it with the arm sleeves. Second, would love to see this as Game 8 of the World Series at the Field of Dreams every year. Would be insanely epic.
I have to admit that looks pretty fun.
night golf was a thing back in the late 80s. using a glowing golf ball. not sure if they do it anymore.
Loved it ! Great info, good sense of humor, I enjoyed this video !
Have you never heard of the Midwest League!?
This must be why Stephen A. Smith has such antipathy towards pot...
The ultimate superspeedway...
Iphone cameras are dookie, im out 😆😆✌️
totally bro!
It would be cool to get a bunch of pitching machines and point them almost straight up but not quite then have a rapid fire of glow in the dark baseballs, kinda like a grand finale. Or put a bunch of glow in the dark streamers attached to a bunch of balls, then put the balls on t ball stands and have all the players just crush them at the same time.
I had always heard that the reasoning behind the sloped roof was NOT to save on AC, but to be able to sustain strong hurricane force winds. Ironic?
My first thought was a sting ray 😭😭
Ah, S-Word!
It seems as if they're incorporating blacklights into a lot of sports recently. Mini-golf has done it, bowling has done it, Laser Tag can't happen without it, and not baseball. This is really cool, and I always love the blacklight effect regardless of where it is.
Always Canada 😂
😂😂😂
I live in Asheville and am from the Tampa Bay area. This was a rough fall. Seeing all of the political bullshit that comes after the storm is worse than the storms themselves.
As someone who went to the last dive bar IE the stadium in Oakland, I am kind of bummed I never got to see a game at the trop! Also F John Fisher! I cant wait to see the low attendance in Vegas with a cheap ass owner!
Remove the roof…play ball.
It makes no sense to repair at the cost of 60M if you're going to build a new stadium. Find a place to play for 3 years and build the new stadium.
anyone else notice half of these are AAC stadiums?
Oh this is cool AF!!! 😀
why don’t they just take the whole roof off and fix up the field and scoreboard and fix it up ??
it's too hot for baseball in Tampa
@ yea but steinbrenner field is outside love your videos btw
The problem isn't necessarily the stadium, although it does suck ass. The two main problems we locals have with this stadium drama are two things, the team owner (Stu Sternberg) and the location of the stadium itself. Our owner is a cheap, no good New Yorker who only owns the team so that he can hang with his New York pals whenever the Yankees come to play. And you heard FivePoints in the video, the stadium is THIRTY MINUTES AWAY from Tampa itself! It's an even longer drive considering the rush hour traffic you get between I-275 and I-4 after 5 pm. The team needs to be moved TO TAMPA and Sternberg needs to sell the team to someone who is willing to keep the team in Tampa and make this team a consistent championship favorite year in and year out.
The team can't draw many fans. Tropicana Field sucks bad. Time to move them to a better market. How about Oakland? Hahahahahahahahaha
Colonial heights va? How odd. I live in east Tennessee in the tri cities and we have a colonial heights within our tri cities.
Rebuild Tropicana Field at the recently demolished Tropicana Hotel site in Las Vegas.
3:46 Cal Tech is a D3 school (but definitely D1 in academics)
Of course cal tech’s baseball field got a weird ass baseball field. Excellent academics but their athletics have not performed well in the SCIAC.
Should have built the stadium on the Tampa side where the population is.
I'm not even a Rays fan, but I'm glad to see they're staying after all and that a hurricane wasn't the dagger. They should've went across the bridge though. Most importantly of all make sure it's an area people can easily get to. Doesn't matter what sport, a stadium will see attendance issues if people can't get there like the Richfield Coliseum, FedEx Field, Amerant Bank Arena, or Canadian Tire Centre.
The county meeting today was hilarious, council members voting for the project but also saying how much they loath the owner, others just voting no.
Tropicana lost its juice thanks to Milton even though it lost it when it opened with a cloth dome worn out about 40 years ago The Ybor City Stadium proposal is a better choice but instead of the dumb glass dome, have it as the very 1st MLB Stadium to have a Translucent Dome
You forgot to mention that the NHL's Tampa Bay Lightning played in Tropicana Field before the Rays and it was called the Thunder Dome.
And WWE brought back the Thunder Dome name as Tropicana Field was used by them for their weekly TV shows & PLE's during the pandemic.
the THUNDER DOME!!!!
Welcome to the ThunderDome Bitch! I really did love it when they call it the ThunderDome.
LACC used to have a really cool concrete stadium and a grass field. It was used only for soccer and track as they didn't sponsor football.
The lightning was smart leaving that stadium and city
Roof repairs for the Trop are not approved. They approved some cleanup and mitigation. Then most recently approved 1.7 million the exploration, pre-planning and final estimates of possible repairs. The City doesn't know the cost and could still choose to buy out the remaining years on the lease if it exceeds the buyout cost and any economic benefit.
Move to Nashville
So in other words, the Trop has been reduced to a damaged box with its top ripped off….like your mom.
"Every so often, hurricanes hit this area. I got an idea - let's build the stadium roof out of trash bags!" What??!!
Well 34 years and no issues is a good track record
I can see Tropicana Field getting the Silverdome, RCA Dome, and Georgia Dome type of ending
I mean the latter's ending was also collapsing in SB LI.
Oakland rays would be epic
So not happening
Rename them the Aays!!!
The temporary relocation of the Tampa Bay Rays to George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, Florida should give the team a better idea if not only did they need a new stadium but a new stadium location to bring in more fans. PS - didn’t know the existing stadium location was on the site of a neighborhood that was wiped out.
Irony - St. Petersburg city council, home of the Tampa Bay Rays and the domed Tropicana Field, in March reduced the policy limits on the stadium from $100 million to $25 million.
The sloped roof to save on AC is a clever (albeit annoying) solution, but it makes the team sound like a middle aged dad. “Hey, slope the roof! We’re not trying to cool the whole outdoors!”
