How I got approved for a USMC Age Waiver
Переглядів 1,7 тис.4 місяці тому
The process I went through to obtain an age waiver for the United States Marine Corps. If you are over the age limit (28 years old), there is still a chance you can enlist. However you must meet strict requirements. In this video, I explain what I recommend you'll need to get approved.
Lol, don't you dare wear that tee shirt to basic. They will give you hell.
Damn man...31 years old, with a fiancé and 2 kids, and going to Marine Corps boot camp. You're in for a rude awakening my man. I wish you the best of luck, because you're going to need it. Physically, your body isn't going to recover from the abuse you'll be taking, like those 18 year old kids you will be training with at MCRD. I can't wait to see your "after boot camp" video.
How'd it go?
Hope you made it through ok. We are the same age, but I went in at 18.
Did you graduate?
I joined the Army at 27, turned 28 just before I shipped. You got this, grandpa. EDIT: Oh btw, you have 19K subscribers. I bet you $5 those Drill Instructors know you're coming lmao
home for Christmas?
Im almost 35 and considering joining the guard as 11b.
I went back to the Marines after a 5 year break. 2000-2004, 2009- 2013. I went back in as a 28 year old CPL I still smoked then junior Marines without pushing it. You will be sought after for your experience by leadership. Remember, dont let the rank get to you. Younger staff and officers that will piss you off.
1962 I was in boot with a 25 yr old ex National Guard. At the end of each day he looked like he had been hit by a truck.
The hardest part will be shaving in your 30s lol
Can anyone tell me if getting g my record expunged with every case dismissed will that help me with my process in joining my recruiter for the Marine corps told me once I pass my asvab the station commander will push up my waivers so I already got the green light with the station commander he said he will vouch for me hopefully my moral waivers get approved, I did get surgery over 8 years ago for my fractured jaw I did take pain meds prescribed and I still have metal hardware in my jaw but I was told I can get a waiver for that
I’m 33 years old they told me the minimum pull ups is 4-5 to pass I can do 6 I’m working on going up to 15 I know I can do it
You look really good for 31...you could easily pass for 24-25. You'll fit in just fine.
I was in boot camp in 93 with a 30 year old guy. He was an absolute stud. He also got a ton of extra attention from the DI's.
These old recruits are the worst. Total sh*tbags and all they do is snitch on everyone because they feel they need to compensate for their old age. I hope he washes out.
Based on this video being 2 months old, I assume you're just about finished with boot camp. Im joining the marine corps reserves at 26 years old married with a family as well. Cant wait to hear from you when you return as a United States Marine.
He’s in boot camp RN 🔥🔥
No matter what... Just DON'T quit!!!
I am a former Marine 0311 (1975-1977) Semper Fi, always give 110% all the time. Learn from other recruits mistakes. Learn to swim before you go.
My 18 year old went through marine bootcamp last year. His bunkmate was 31 and had dentures. Funniest story he had was the DI's got in older recruits face asked him why it took so long to join and he replied family etc. The main DI stepped up nose to nose with him and said you joined now because there is no war going on and you want the benefits isn't that correct. My son said one other DI turned away had his hat down because he was laughing.
I went back to MCRD-SD for a visit while you were there. Good luck and don't fear the reaper.
can you get that for officers too?
Mookie Betts, MLB GOAT
Congratulations brother. Keep it up!
I'll be 41 when i ship to Army basic training on November 12th.
Where are you taking basic? I was 25 when I went to Ft. Jackson. Most of my platoon were teenagers. I had a friend that was 38 that went the 2nd time following college and did quite well. Let us hear from you sometime after basic training or your AIT. Good luck to you!
I thought 28 was the cutoff
Na, had 2 30 year olds in mine, one went through the whole thing but the other had to get processed out since his knees couldn’t take it no more
at least you look like your 18
Cap
31 here, shipping out for Army Basic in 4 weeks 🫡🇺🇸
Where were you during the GWOT? now you want to join when we don't need you anymore?
Wtf ?. Should have kept your prior 20s no need & desire to not join. Instead bought a BIG vodka bottle & spent a weekend all fucked up, and after it had all left your system - never thought about making such a goofy-ass decision again. - Rip
Good to hear your story, brother. I’m also joining the Air Force Reserve at 32 and will be going to boot camp early next year. Kudos to you for joining the Marines - I’ve heard their boot camp is much tougher
Should really consider the airforce
well reserves is alright i guess
Just go have fun! I spent ten years in and would do it again. I hope that you went 03.
What happened to the 28 yr cutoff
I never thought there was any real benefit to going reserves specifically with the Marines. You're not getting much from it besides the uniform and dysfunctional chaos and confusions a couple days of the month. The reserves is so different from active, nowhere near the same life style, and you're likely not going to do your actual MOS/job very often. You'll be treated as what you are as a reservist, which is extra hands. Now, wanting to experience a taste of the military and getting a very small handful of the benefits as a member of the armed forces while being a husband and father, this is the best route. I know you won't see this until after boot since you've shipped off by the time I saw this video pop up, but I hope to hear good news and that you don't have any regrets about this decision. :)
Just submitted my age waiver 2-3 days ago with 256 PFT. How long did it take for your age waiver to be approved? Thanks!
Looking forward to see ur video when u graduate ❤
Two kids and a wife you can't go active. You have to go reserve because you simply just don't make enough to support 3 dependents and the Marine Corps knows this.
Dude, outstanding choice to make but damn. Earn the title at 31 that's rough. Just don't quit. If you don't quit, the DIs will keep training you.
Congrats Im 26 enlisting in the navy as well 💯
Hoorah
Grand old man of the marine corps hahaha, you got this bro
Well, you're there now so.... Now that I watched the whole video.....they do planking now? And you're scoring 2nd class? Good Lord.....what happened to standards? Yep, my .02 is coming. I never even THOUGHT about having a 2nd class PFT. The worst I ever did was a low 1st class. The best I ever did was a 290. Well, good luck anyway. Hopefully you'll make it.
Hey, good luck dude, I I am 26 and I went through Boot Camp, just remember to be patient with these kids come out of high school that’s one thing I will encourage you to do
shoulda joined the army at that age
Get ready for 2 sheets and blanket, doing everything by the numbers.
Go hard big dog! Better late than never.
wtf!
