I use stencils and spray paint and a similar process but green is the last color I spray and it gives a better effect for me! Nice job though it looks great!

And one more (for the algorithm)… I heard a SOF guy recommend putting a light dusting of a darker color (OD green or brown) over the top half of your rifle and a light dusting of a lighter color (desert tan or FDE) over the bottom half after you’re completely finished painting. He gave the example of hunting dear or other game animals and how easily they “disappear” in the woods (darker fur on top, lighter or white underneath). The darker color counters the light from above, and the lighter color counters the shadows underneath (same principle used for camo face painting), making it much harder for the eye to register/recognize the shape.

Here’s another tip… To darken up that FDE a little, cut a small, irregular shape from a sponge, put a little dark brown paint on it and lightly dab it on some of the lighter areas.

I don’t say this often but… Nice paint job 👍! Most rattle can “tutorials” don’t produce results nearly as good as yours.
