Great list man! Love the passion you have for music and I can tell by the way you describe why you love these albums. I recently met the lead singer of Seven Kingdoms and just before that got introduced to their catalogue. Man, it's great stuff! Catchy but meaty power metal riffing, with lots of odes to classic heavy metal. Best of luck to you in your future endeavors! I'll be here if you ever decide to come back! 🙂

I love that Atavistia is your number one, my friend. This was in my top 10 for a big chunk of the year. It's just outside my top 30 now but it's been an amazing year for metal and I've listened to so many albums. Honestly my top 100 could all be in a top 10 list. Not enough people have been talking about this

also so far your list has been the best I've seen because you have a lot of different stuff in here. I literally had to swim through so much good stuff, I had over 150 albums that I liked enough to rate and honestly, I listened to over 300 albums this year and it was a tough year to pick the best.

Obviously the term "top" is completely subjective, and for most people, it simply means "what I personally like". However, if "top" was defined by something more objective such as "technical musicianship", then LOVEBITES *Judgement Day* album would be first and second.

I like the fact that this list is so diverse! Most metal channels just focus on death and black metal so not many places I can turn to get a different take. I do like some melodic death metal and some atmospheric black and shoegaze. Thanks for this! I have a lot of new music to check out now! And I am new to Persefone, but I agree that they are a pleasant listen and lighten my mood!

I am glad that I stumbled upon this video. This is a great list. More than half of the albums on your list would also be on my metal list for the first three months. I have been listening to rock/metal for over 5 decades (so metal since it began) and I still love discovering new bands. There is an album that would be very high on my list by a band, although not new (they formed 8 or 9 years ago), they released their first full album in January. The album is called The Oath and the band is Lord Mountain. If you don't know this band and have a little time, give them a listen.

New subscriber. I like how you are breaking your tops picks into release months, I think that's a wonderful idea. Also enjoy the variety in selections. That ...And Oceans wins this release schedule for me. The way they incorporate riffs in songs like "The Collector and his Construct" but still use keys seamlessly, ie "Cloud Heads", is impressive.

Definitely some stuff on here that I'm gonna check out! I recommend that you give Storming the Walls by Triumpher a listen. Killer Trad/PM with some more extreme influences thrown in at times. One of my favorites from this year.
