About two to three weeks after a new set of nails, you have new growth. During this time you need to rebalance your set of nails with what is called a "fill". This video will show you how to rebalance a set of Gels (using the Gels Made Simple Kit by ASP from Sally's). If you are looking for how to do the full set, scroll my other videos for the instructional video on a full set.

Prepare your natural nails for artificial nails... Like a PRO
Переглядів 594 роки тому
Nailebrity Elaine Watson shows you how to prep nails like a pro. Perfect preparation equals long wear artificial nails. People often mistake the surrounding skin for "cuticle". It is actually dead skin stuck to the nails. Artificial nails do not stick to it. So if you want long-wearing artificial nails without lifting, watch this quick video.

    Question: I couldn't find it in the instructions anywhere so it may not be required, but I'm curious to know. Why didn't you file your own nail beds in the very beginning, prior to applying the ASP bonder? Just wondering if it's helpful or if buffing the underside of the tip will suffice?

      No. But file your fake nails with at least 180 grit before applying bonder or gel. You don’t want to put gel on a slick fake nail because the gel needs something to “grab” onto.

    • @NailebrityFilms
      @NailebrityFilms 3 роки тому

      You use the gel as the adhesive. So you apply the gel to the back side of the clear tip, apply and hold the tip on the nail then cure in the lamp (and let go). You do not need to apply gel on the top of the full nail tip.. just add color or nail art.

    • @NailebrityFilms
      @NailebrityFilms 3 роки тому

      @@meganmary2321 ahhhhh so sorry, I understand. Depending on the length yes. If you do medium or long length you will want to do a few extra coats. Gel in a bottle is thinner (consistency) than say gel in a pot. So we make up for that with several coats.

      If it isn’t sticking to your nail here are a few suggestions : be sure you cured it in the light. Be sure you do a manicure and really clean your nail with alcohol to remove all oils. If you still have trouble sticking.. you may have a moisture rich nail (a blessing and a curse) consider using a primer.

      really hard to offer suggestions without seeing where you went wrong. My first and biggest, I changed the lamp. I propped it so it sat up in a way I could hold the tip on my nail while putting it into the lamp (both hands). Also, be gentle. Pressing too hard just squeezes gel out the edges. Apply the gel into the tip. Place it at the cuticle first and rock it on as you watch the gel and bubble push to the end of the nail. You can essentially spot cure it in place for 10 seconds to hold it in place and then put just the one nail in the lamp. Thats all I can think of in this moment to help. Good luck!

    • @NailebrityFilms
      @NailebrityFilms 3 роки тому

      With this kit, their gel acts as the nail glue between the nail and a plastic tip. So I’m not sure I understand where you’re feeling sticky gel. Is it possible you mean, after you cured in the lamp it didn’t cure in place and hold the tip? (We can figure this out with a little back and forth here...

    How long do these last?

    • @NailebrityFilms
      @NailebrityFilms 4 роки тому

      That’s a tough question. How long your artificial nails last depends on how well you prepare your natural nails for application. How well you apply the artificial nails. The length...is it suitable for your lifestyle? And how well you wear them (used as tools or carefully moving through life). Just like any artificial nail they will ride your nail plate as it grows. So they need to be maintained with a rebalance / fill every 2-3 weeks depending on how fast or slow your nails grow.

    While I understand your reasoning Elaine, and I understand that the industry must evolve, or die. Where does it end? We already have techs who, for whatever reason, are buying "pro" products on eBay and Amazon. What's to stop them from deciding that they can make more money "teaching" the diy'ers how to do their own acrylic, or hard gel, nails? There are already so many "educators" out there who should NOT be teaching. Now we'll have Nancy Nailtech teaching the local diy'ers how to apply gel polish, and those diy'ers will say "Hey, I wanna learn how to do my own acrylics/gels! Will you show me how?" I wouldn't, I know a lot of good techs who wouldn't. Then there's those techs who would say, "What the hell? It's more money in my pocket, and it sure beats slogging behind a desk, or crouching over my clients feet!" Is that really where we're going as an industry? I guess I'm a dinosaur, I have one, just one product that is not pro-only, I discourage the use of sharpies, craft products, I promote pro-only products and companies. I am not against evolution of our industry, I just pray that it doesn't go the way it looks like it may go :(
