Oh good this WAS a movie I watched once. I had this vague memory of hitchhiking and the guy turns out to be be batshit crazy and wrecks us and his first thought is "I gotta shoot all the bunnies in my trunk". He pops the trunk and hundreds of bunnies run out and then I turn back to him and he's a catapillar smoking a hookah and Jimi Hendrix is behind him playing purple haze.

YES! This is everything I remembered it was. One time I was flipping through channels and caught this movie right at this scene. It has stuck with me for like 20 years and I could never remember what the movie was until finding it just now. I laughed so hard because I was like WHAT IN THE WORLD??? Does it make more sense if you watch the whole movie?

I saw this movie in an asl 2 class i was taking and it's been well over a year. Every single time i hear "beautiful boy" i hear this scene and im not an overly emotional person but i nearly cry each time.

I have dear friends whose son lost his hearing as a baby The dad treated his son and the situation in a similiar way to how Mr Hollannd treated his son and their sitaution He was MOVED TO TEARS IN THE CINEMA at this movie and CHANGED - EMBRACED THE IDEA OF SIGN, ETC IM moved to tears just typing this Ive ALWAYS LOVED this movie from the word 'go" But when i learned of this , it took it to another level Wow
