Thorogood 804-4200 steel toe work boot review.
I bought a pair last week and while the fit was snug- the leather was stiff as cardboard. This created heel slip, and discomfort. These needed a break-in for sure. It also does not help the it is winter and gets below freezing where I live frequently. I resorted to using LP Obenaufs. then a light go over with a heat gun on low for seconds at a time, and rubbed it in with my hands. I have done this twice and the boots absorb the LPO and they kind of look and feel more like harness leather, which I like. I wonder if mine were not sitting in a wear house? How was the leather on YOUR boots when new? Supple or stiff? Anyway they seem to be breaking in nice.
I agree with you on the Bick4 and then once or twice a year use RW leather cream.
how much does it cost to replace the battery? I know it can be expensive because they need to replace the gaskets and test for water leaks.
I’ve had a pair for years now.
I have a customised Breitling brown strap one, love it.
Great watch and good video. I got the 42mm in orange and it’s a really good pop of stand out colour on the wrist! One thing Breitling does well is a coloured dial (or colored as you guys in the US would say!)😉🇬🇧🇺🇸
I’ve had these about 4 years. You have to treat them with mink oil, specially if you bought them a half size smaller. They hurt my feet a bit bc I have a wide foot but so long you oil them up, they will stretch enough to make them perfectly snug for things like iron working. Having mink oil on them makes them practically water proof up to where the tongue starts.
To my knowledge Thorogood and Danner mostly Seidel leather
Biggest issue with me is the speed hooks I’ve had to file down and sand the back of one pair. it literally ripped the leather of the tongue in 2 wears luckily it’s not deep, but had I not caught them I promise it would of only been 4 wears before it would of been all the way through. So before even wearing my second pair I filed and sanded them to be safe next I’m gonna get mole skin for them. I’m all for patina and presses from the laces and such but not literally cuts within one day not even 10 hours of use.
Hells Bells, at least do a bit of homework on the watch before ‘reviewing’ it.
I’ve had every red wing u can think of and both styles of wing shooters… I buy 2 pairs of ashbys once a year and rotate everyday they are the most comfortable best bang for your buck boot I have ever worn. I love em .. I only wear them a year because my feet sweat a lot so it’s more hygienic for me
Good deal but definitely just paying for the name I don’t think this watch is ascetically pleasing lol
No way this watch craps on a seamaster
@@jamesg4670everyone is entitled to their own opinion I’m not a huge fan of the seamaster either but I would never waste my money on either of those if I had to waste my money on a diver a Tudor is your best bang for your buck
I had about 1 day of breaking in my copper rough & toughs. But honestly very comfortable as soon as I put them on. Seems to be a lot of guys with weak feet I guess. I am a runner so maybe my feet and ankles are conditioned. But anyhow, IR's totally worth every penny. Great for the motorcycle too!
How have your boots aged? You thought they might get darker, but you used Bick 4. Are you happy with the results? Still have the Red Wings?! 👍
Weight?
The bracelet is a disgrace. No security lock, omly a clasp. For comparison, Seiko knows how to approach a real diver metal bracelet. And so do Tudor and Eterna.
I'm a 60 yr old, recently retired firefighter Love my iron rangers, shoe trees are key though. Had mine for 3 years now and holding up well. I imagine another year or so and I'll be looking for a cobbler to do a resole.
Do you know if the new bracelet / clasp will fit on this “winged” model? Thanks ! Great video.
If redwings are so great, why are you wearing Thorogoods?
I have the UK special edition of this (Blue and Black), and i agree the lume is incredible!
I have exactly the same watch and greatly enjoy wearing it. Good review, you’ve covered all the points well. Thanks for the upload 👍. Enjoy the watch 😀
Had my IR 8085s 3yrs + copper Rough unbelievable love um from across the pond Manchester England 🏴
I’m in the market for that exact watch. I have Rolex, I’ve owned Breitling, Omega and Tag and I agree my Breitling Colt was my favorite. Can’t wait to get one of those super ocean. Great video..
Bought the orange version. Feels and looks great 😊 happy ❤
I apply a coating of mink oil to them to condition the leather and also darkens them a hair.. get a lot of compliments
It must be the most expensive quartz watch ever made. It is not worth $3000.
I love mine. Well spent money 😊
Then you don’t know much about watches. FP Journe Elegante 48 quartz starts at $16,000 and can easy go over $60,000
have just ordered a breitling avenger gmt 45 red arrows edition i think its 2020-21 this is my first ever watch and cant find any reviews on youtube does anyone know if it is any good or should i have saved up for a base rolex
hola, La suela ha sido duradera? o se ha gastado rápido? Saludos
I'd just replace the laces after a few days those thin laces loosen up during work hours other that good n nice looking boot union made
Just picked up a full set Blue dial variant ref. A17318 for $800. Pawnshop find
He’s right about the green. You do get tired of it. These watches should only be in black.
Lovely, absolutely lovely. A little burgundy/red in some light but the overall warm brown '70s tone is awesome!!
Its advertised as +/- 15 seconds per day on the website.
3.22 it should be easily scratched
These watches despite being exceptional, robust with the breitlight, extremely light and so comfortable always get so much stick from people calling them plastic and being critical of the super quartz. They are so nice in hand. It’s not cheap but I honest think these watches are so good I bought an orange and then a blue. Bought my first due to wanting a bretlight watch in my collection and it is so little fuss with being quart I don’t need to set and wind every time I wear like all my others. Some watches are so uncomfortable and heavy despite looking fantastic, this wouldn’t be my best looking watch but god it’s so light and comfortable. Reason for the quartz is thin and lightweight.
Lollll OK salesman
Just the opposite, I buy lolll
A man that was too busy to post, because he was actually working, is a man I trust. Subscribed!
Those look cleannnnnnn
Would love an update on these bad boys, I just bought a pair and being shipped here to Australia 🇦🇺 I’m excited but I’m scared on how they’ll fit or how they’ll look 😅
The Ashby? That is like the cheapest crap boot by red wing
In my opinion it was a mistake removing the date from the 2024 Superocean , this generation is the more useful watch and better looking as I see it . Solid choice , I have six Superoceans total and love every one of them . Bought my first one in 2011 and have three first gen rubber bezel (2 44s and one 44 chronograph ) 1 just like yours and both colors 44 special . That’s a great watch that will last several lifetimes. Great content subscribed!
🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷👏👏👏
I like the classic blue bezel dual look but the name Avenger"gays ' it up.. Like this watch brings on there wrist off a10 year old shorter face
Great video. Do longines have a plan to release this in 38 or 39mm ?
I like dem boots!
Good insights! Seiko should tune their watches more accurately for sure.
Just got an identical pair this week. Loving them. Breaking in easier than I thought. Think I'm really gonna enjoy owning these 😊
Everyone worries about using dawn dish soap to clean leather. It is unfounded. Dawn is gentle. And your conditioning replaces any oils stripped by the detergent.
I've always wondered about using Dawn soap to scrub off the dirt and grime. Glad you've found success with the upkeep. Cheers!
Look great. They don't look like a wet mess like so many ppl that over- condition.
Dude. If you don't show the old one. This video is useless homie!
Longines vs Tudor…… I love Tudor but they’re just too damn thick! Longines is definitely catching up to Tudor and is very good value for money. You get a lot of watch for what you pay for
