How does a non resident pay back their fee-help loan?
Bit confused , you are saying the con is that you get taxed at non-resident rate and also lose 50% CGT discount. At the same time you are saying it’s a pro because you are taxed at resident rate and get the 50% CGT discount

I am a NZ'dr moving to Melbourne from another country in October. I have already purchased a house in Melbourne. If I sell my crypto in November, I assume based on the information in this video I do not have to pay any Australian tax on that. But would I still be considered a NZ tax resident and have to pay tax in NZ on that crypto?
We are losing this taxfree privelidge because of silly talkers like you who cannot shut up and keep silent.
Hi Jeremy.. I'm going to be non Australia residences in August 2024 ..I'm going to do deemed disposal on all my bullion..pay the ,,CGT,, ....I understand that basically how it works when I return if I return.to Australia..it's resetting the new price of the bullion.... But my question is .if after 2-5 years of non Australia residences...I decided to sell some of my bullion.....is it taxed again??? I'm thinking it's going to be taxed in my ,,new country of residence,, Philippines,, ???
Is this information in this video still current?

Cheapest temporary residency program by company formation?
If you are an American citizen then getting a second citizenship and renouncing U.S citizenship is the better than residency. It depends if the person is a U.S citizen and trying to gain freedom from U.S citizenship.
@youknowkbbaby Yes - valid point if you are American as their citizenship-based tax is restrictive.
Get to the point and skip bs
@gautamgoyal thanks for the feedback
From being a citizen in Australia, what country would you recommended to change tax residencies with if your income is crypto & stocks. Was thinking Thailand or Bali…
@llllllllllllllllllllllll1 There isnt really a on size fits all answer here as people are all different. Thailand and Bali can be good options but aren't necessarily the most favourable tax jurisdictions. If you like that area of the world, also consider the Philippines or HK. New Zealand can also be an option for passive investments with the 4 year foreign income tax exemption.

Hello. Is Serbia or Azerbaijan a good place to get residence leading to citizenship?
Good question - I have spoken to a couple people talk about Serbia being a good place but have not heard about Azerbaijan. Let me know if you have any other questions
Do we have any clarity on Australian sourced income in either of these two circumstances: A non-tax resident owns ASX listed shares. Is that considered Australian sourced income? A non-tax resident owns ETFs which include some ASX listed stocks or the ETF is listed on the ASX?
Great question @JS-vt8si Australian stocks and ETFs are NOT considered Australian sourced, however, the payment you receive from them is treated differently. However, suppose a non-resident has Australian stocks held as a previous tax resident, and DID NOT partake in the deemed disposal. In that case, the disposal of those assets may be considered Aus sourced income. The most common Aus-sourced income we see is Australian rental income, which is treated differently to interest or dividends for Australian tax purposes. Let me know if you have any further questions.
What about the Philippines.it only has a territory tax ...not world wide,,,,, if i move retirement ther and my gold is in Australia.. Can i still maintain my Australian tax resedence??

I moved to Portugal from South Africa. Currently have a 2-year temporary residency. Was planning to get citizenship as the South African passport is so bad, need visa to travel to USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, UK, Europe (if I didn't have this residency) Think once I get Citizenship (If I can pass the required Language exams) I'll definitely try to get permanent residency for a cheaper tax country.
@brian_wanderlust Good luck mate - thanks for your comment. Check out some of the options in the video above.
Actually no, UAE removed the 0% freezone benefit suddenly. U didn't mention that. Bummer.
@kisms8590 Thanks - they have not removed it but have implemented a 9% corporate tax which does not apply in all scenarios. You can still get away, depending on activites with 0% tax.

Who can be bothered with this...who in the right mind is going to declare gains made on anything once ceasing residency and getting out of this place...Unless there is a chance of returning obviously...Life is to short for all this complicated tax bullshit...
@richardbrown9344 thanks - the issue is, if you don't partake in the deemed disposal, the assets are considered taxable Australian property so therefore are still open to the Australian tax net. We always encourage full compliance and smart planning!
@@worldwideadvisory yes understood..not sure exactly what you are talking about in your video, but no cgt applies to primary residence upon sale and departure of australia..
@@worldwideadvisory why oh why would anyone in the right mind choose to stay in this country?
@@richardbrown9344 correct - there is no exit tax on any assets that are Australian property, so it only applies to shares, cryptos, bullion, ETFs, etc. Be wary about your primary residence because as a non-resident, you can no longer access the main residence exemption
@@richardbrown9344 there are a lot of benefits to Australia. There are literally people dying to come into Australia.

Tourist visas is easier than 10 years for expensive citizenship. I dont see the value of citizenship.
@ViceCoin It depends on each person's circumstances in the end. Many of our clients want to cease tax residency, and being on a tourist visa is not a sufficient enough connection in that new country for that.
Georgia much racist so not a good option
Italy residence costs how much you did not mention
@abdulkarim-iq6zf it depends on what else is involved - they aren't expensive. Should cost between 500-1000 euro. However I must note that Italy has changed their conditions making it less favourable.

What about moving to a non CRS country? Would you still need to declare any foreign earned income?
@pbubalo Depends on your situation but if you were an Australian tax resident earning income from a non-CRS country (there aren't many left!) - I would still recommend to declare income.
Do these benefits apply to you if you are a non-resident for tax purposes, but you are an Australian citizen living overseas?
@marcialhernandezramos4792 Thanks for your comment - yes for a non-resident whos an Aus citizen. Also for Australian non-residents and non-citizens.
This is very important actually. It's BS - it should be easier to start being a tax resident than to cease being one. If people don't live here for most of a year then there is no reason they should be paying tax to cover services they're not using and if they're still a citizen and have paid taxes all their life then coming back for 183 days is not at all greedy or unreasonable. Aust's broke is what this is about and the ATO can't collect debt
@haych27 It is easier to commence tax residency than ceasing it. I do agree with everything else. Well said! Have you got any plans to depart Australia for good?
I plan to leave next year after I have sold everything, and from the day I leave for good I will no longer be declaring any income I earn outside of Australia...Im sick to death of these tyrants..

In the final taxation ruling TR 2023/1, it says you need a usual place of abode, does that mean you have to stay at one place overseas to count as a non tax resident? like I can’t live in Bali for 6 months, then Malaysia for 6 months?
