The Hydrogen based liquid fuel - Hythanol - first run test
Hydrogen comes in 2 different main forms - gas and a liquid. Though science claims there is a 3rd state of hydrogen - a metal. Since it takes extreme conditions to cause a phase change in gaseous hydrogen and convert it to a metal we are not focused on such unique properties inherent in metallic hydrogen.
The other interesting aspect about hydrogen is - apart from the fact it is the most abundant element in the universe", the hydrogen atom and molecule is present in ALL fossil fuels and in most chemicals, drugs, plastics, metals, rubbers and liquids. Hydrogen is the most dominant element in almost all drugs, e.g. Ibuprofen: C13(H18)O2, Aspirin: C9(H8)O4, the pain killer Acetaminophen: C8(H9)NO2 and Fentanyl: C22(H28)N2O. Common plastics like Polyethylene or polythene have the chemical structure of C2H4. Most people don't realize the much of the clothes they wear is made of mostly hydrogen, e.g. Nylon: C6(H11)NO, Polyester: C10(H8)O4 and Cotton: C6(H10)O5. Did you know that Hydrogen and oxygen is what causes wood to burn? FYI - 10% of the tree is made up of Hydrogen and 5% of coal is Hydrogen. The 10% Hydrogen content in wood is more valuable than the wood itself.
Due to the flexibility of this miracle element chemically it can be added to so many other elements to create compounds that we use everyday. Being a clean burning element that reacts with Oxygen to produce nothing more than water it can easily be adapted and modified to run perfectly in internal combustion engines as either a liquid or a gas.
In this video I am demonstrating a new fuel I developed called Hythanol. It is a low carbon fuel - only 1 carbon atom - that when used as a fuel in an engine produces very little CO2 and almost Zero particulate matter. Hythanol creates no sulfur emissions. Even though this wonder fuel has less energy content than gasoline it has a very high octane rating of 100+ it can be highly compressed to create even more power than gasoline with forced air induction. Due to the high content of oxygen present in the cylinder during combustion the cooling effect is so high an engine running on 100% Hythanol can be operated without a radiator AND without the exhaust smell of carbon based fuels. Hythanol can be produced from different feed stocks making it cheaper than gasoline since it is not regulated by fluctuating world oil prices!

    It would be extremely cool if there was a simple way to make ICE cars run on hydrogen. Because even at a much lower efficiency, an existing ICE car would be much better than a new car, in terms of climate change and many other aspects as well. The dream then, would obviously be to produce hydrogen on demand from batteries, which you could easily charge at home.

    The exhaust of burning hydrogen produces oxygen that mixed with hydrogen. Water vapor and oxygen is what is left. My exhaust from my 5kw generator, you can breath. When you produce hydrogen in a single cell, you get this mixture. A dual cell will separate the oxygen from hydrogen. I have run my generator for 2 yrs now with no problem. I use saltwater from the Gulf of Mexico, the same as the US Navy does with their hydrogen cells that run their generators on there vessels. It just took time to figure out how big a cell is needed for the size of a generator.

    what are the best tanks to store hydrogen?

  • @haddow777
    @haddow777 3 місяці тому

    Ya, no. 99% of Hydrogen is produced using fossil fuels. Methane mostly. They use super heated steam to break apart the molecules into Hydrogen and CO2. Using Hydrogen first of all requires the emission of huge amounts of CO2. In fact, today's levels of Hydrgen production emits about 2% of global CO2 emissions every year. People claim it will be cleaned up with electrolysis, but it is far more expensive and requires some pretty rare elements. Again, 99% today is made with fossil fuels. What's more, Hydrogen produces much less energy than Methane. For one, because most Hydrogen is produced from Methane by cutting out the carbon atom and disposing of it, there is automatically a loss in volume from the Methane that went in to the Hydrogen that comes out. Then there is the fact that a lot of the energy stored in Methane came from the bonds between the Hydrogen and the Carbon. As such, Hydrogen has much less energy by volume than Methane, which means you have to use a lot more volume of Hydrogen to get the same energy out. Still worse is little discussed fact that Hydrogen itself is a greenhouse gas. Google it. Another fact, Hydrogen is the hardest to contain gas on the planet pretty much. So a lot is going to get out into the atmosphere. Look up why all the Hydrogen produced is mostly produced very near to where it is used. Industry avoids storing it and transporting it as much as possible. Another simple fact is that not all Hydrgen is burned when ignited. Look at all those flames in that video realize that each of them are outputting a portion directly into the atmosphere as pure Hydrogen. In the flame, there typically is never enough Oxygen atoms to bond with every Hydrogen atom. So some are always being dumped into the atmosphere to act as greenhouse gases. These are all simple facts of Hydrogen. Its fault isn't being any greater of a danger of blowing up your house than natural gas. Its that it will actually make climate change worse. On the surface it seems great. Dig even just a little, and it quickly becomes terrible.

      Masz rację że wodór cały się nie spala np. z palnika ręcznego ale da się to poprawić. W urządzeniach które posiadają komorę spalania i są wyposażone w wentylator nie ma problemu z niedopałem wodorowym. Jeżeli chodzi o NOx to powstają one przy spalaniu z powietrzem i to prawda że wartości emisji są większe niż przy spalaniu pozostałych paliw gazowych. Ale myślę że to również jest kwestia odpowiednich modyfikacji palnika aby obniżyć ich emisję do poziomu, który odpowiada emisji dla pozostałych paliw gazowych.

      Climate change will become better with MORE CO2 not less like you are being brainwashed to believe. Ask any biologist. We need 0.7% CO2 in the atmosphere to have a healthy biosphere, we have 0.04%, way below requirement, at 0.02% everything on Earth dies. So yeah let's believe the BS and get to 0.02 asap so everything can die. Do a test yourself, with 2 identical plants. Put one in a richer CO2 environment than standard and watch it outgrow the "normal" plant by 200-300% in a few months.

      @@whaddayawant2197 doesn't surprise me that Alberta, or what I like to call faux Texas, is calling Hydrogen green energy. The oil industry is massively behind governments pushing for the Hydrogen economy. It's like big oil thinks it will be the wizard of Oz hiding behind the Hydrogen curtain duping people into believing they are reducing fossil fuel usage when they will really be using more.

      you can replace the hydrogen tank with an electrolysis machine running from batteries. Just understand the difference between hydrogen and HHO. It should produce pure hydrogen, not a hydrogen-oxygen mix. But in principle you should be able to add some car batteries in your luggage compartment along with an electrolyzer and use that to drive. It's not very efficient and wouldn't give you long range, but if you had free electricity at home, then that might be worth it.
