He’s either scoring goals or helps prevent the opposition from scoring. This match was a good example because when GA threw on an extra defender, he left Cook on the pitch. And I think that is mostly down to the fact that Cook can be relied on to play a sort of centre back role when we are protecting a lead. So credit to GA for not subbing him and credit to Cook for having this part of his game.

I know we won 5-0 just after this came out but broadly speaking, I still agree with your takes- it would take drastic changes in January for me to see us finishing anywhere other than midtable. The technical director Andy Scott has overseen our recruitment- he let Alfie May, George Dobson, and Corey Blackett Taylor go for an estimated combined £1.2m (with Dobson not being offered a contract that met his wage demands largely due to a spat with Andy Scott when he had a go at our youth team and Dobson publicly criticised him). He then signed Conor Coventry, Gasan Ahadme, and Docherty for a an estimated combined 2.2m- so we lost £1m to get rid of our best players and bring in players, some of whom have shown glimpses and others of whom never had the potential to hit the heights. This poor recruitment policy alongside the constraints of FFP and years of heavy debt financing, have left the club in a position where whilst it has the 4th highest budget in the league, it has no ownership over the stadium or the training ground, and it’s recruitment doesn’t translate to the quality you’d expect on the pitch. We’re currently owned by a consortium called Global Football Partners and under EFL rules we have to have a majority shareholder by the end of the season.
