I like whales! Cool demonstration Ken! I especially like the asymmetrical end of the tail! That eastern white pine seems like it might be a tough carve because of how far apart the tree ring gaps are, compared to how tight linden grain is, but it's not so, you carve it with ease! Thanks for your continued content!

Thank you so much for posting this Video. I really love how you used the facets in your carving to show water reflections on the Whales body. seeing facets as detail is not easy for me when carving, I am relatively new to carving, I started in 2022. I see smooth curves as detail and motion. I have been focused on carving Whale tail scoops and small whales from scrap pieces of Cherry wood for quite some time now. But I have been planning to do a larger sperm Whale using a 3"x6" block of Cherry wood. I am kind of working on learning realism but keeping an element of whimsy. Realism and Motion is where my thoughts and imagination takes me when carving for some reason. Anyway I love your Whale Carving and how your creativity comes out in the final piece. Thank you.

Hey ken I tried sending you a gmail not sure if it went through but I'm in the process of making another knife it's more for getting into areas that's hard to get with conventional knives I'm sending it to you and it's going to be my last one I make I think you will like it but there's always a but perhaps you could do another wood spirit for me maybe a little bigger than the last one don't feel obligated just thought I would throw it out there I'll let you know when it's on the way happy whittling my friend

Excellent commentary Ken! I like how you drew the pencil lines and then explained the next step, that is extremely helpful for beginning carvers! I certainly couldn't find enough of that when I started out! I do like the wood spirits you carve, distinctive, and the cuts into the bark from the beard, very cool!
