@@mkegadgets4380 It is kind of complicated to describe in a few short sentences. Set your tool post so one face is parallel to the chuck and the other is parallel to the centerline. When you either face cut or turn a shaft get the correct tool holder. You don't need to be changing the angle of the tool post for facing parts or turning/boring operations. Kennametsl makes insert holders for facing/turning operations. Get the right tools and save time in set ups and make more money as a machinist. If you are a hobby lathe operator continue with your method.

Could have used this video in 2020 when I got Covid & it stimulated dormant HPV & it developed into cancer. Came as a total surprise, no mention of possible cancer, the problem was a swollen & necrotic lymph node. Got sent to a surgeon about removal & 3 minutes in, he says, You got cancer... Changed my day... LOL Surgery in '20, came back, chemo & rad in '21. In '22, a non-related CAT found 'A Spot' on my liver. Rad in '23, now it's the waiting game. What I would add, from my POV, is get ready for the long, very long recovery times. Normally, progress from an injury or surgery is marked in days or weeks, w/ cancer it's months or years. I was not prepared for that. The other waiting is for 3 months, then 6 months, then 9, 12, 15... for post treatment imaging & blood tests to determine the success of treatment, & whether you're gonna continue living. Most docs don't handle this well. Be prepared for the weeks & weeks of trying to forget you have &/or pretending you don't have cancer. Good luck to you w/ your journey. GeoD

I applaud your dedication to the reuse, repurpose or recycle philosophy. I'd like to see a lot more of it on YT; mostly I see a lot of things thrown in the garbage. One of my favorite endeavors is to repurpose old, quality tools into updated, usable tools for my shop. Saves me a ton of money & gives me projects. BTW: The cheap components &/or poorly constructed electronics is the cause of failure in products like the porch light. Unless a person can repair them, don't buy 'em; in the end, it would be more environmentally positive to use an old fashioned incandescent bulb rather than buy & throw away an 'enviro friendly' LED fixture multiple times! @@mkegadgets4380 I sub'd, about ½ way thru the 2nd vid I watched. FYI, I found a great way to store zip lock bags. Use one of those paper accordian files labeled A-Z, (they have more partitions). I sort bags in size & label each divider. You can get a tremendous # of bags in it & they're durable. The one I use for bags was old & used from a business I had thru the '90's & early 2000's; a bit of packing tape help & it's over 30 yrs old. Something I added along the way was a hand drawn rule w/ 1" increments to the top front for qck measurement. After a while I had so many bags of one size, I started putting 11 bags, folded in half inside a single bag & gave them their own division. Makes it easy to grab bags & give them to friends who come by. I also use an accordian file for storing thin plastic, paper, rubber & metal sheets. Even have enough room left to store my drawing paper, plastic shape templates & old project drawings in the back 4-5 partitions. The older I got the more I craved not wasting time being disorganized. About 50, I will on a organize everything campaign after I found myself digging thru a container of fasteners for the umpteenth time. I just couldn't stand wasting what time I had left; glad I did, now that I'm 70! GeoD

Is that a trick of the trade using the mill as a guide for your hand tap? Or did you come up with that. Either way keep it up and 1 million views is in sight

I did make it, but it’s a common practice to use that spring loaded tool. It works in a drill press, milling machine or Lathe. It’s a great beginner project for a lathe. I actually made a video where I make one.

I'm willing to bet the cylinder head/rings are thrashed. I got a free compressor years ago, bought a rebuild kit, hydrostatic pressure tested the tank, and have used it reliably ever since.

After I shot the video, he said it wouldn’t turn off. It was 20 years old so he went out and bought a new one. He gives me all his old junk to Terry apart. I really enjoyed doing that. Thanks for your positive comment.
