      -Open the damper -Remove the base of the damper handle -Remove the two bolts in the damper assembly top left and right (above fireback). -Lower at an angle to get assembly out with damper rod attached. Fireback can now be removed.

      @sonschimneyserviceinc.4015 5 місяців тому

      Unfortunately, I don't think the beeps can be shutoff. You could run the unit on thermostatic mode then it will cycle on/off without beeping. You may be able to operate the unit manually without remote as well(depending on unit).

    Bought this insert in May of 2022. Very cold air comes out the bottom of the unit (where the grate is) when not being used. Not the efficient upgrade to our fireplace that I hoped for and asked for. Always seems to let too much air in, can't drop to a slow burn. Again, not the efficiency I wanted. I would not buy it again.

    I've had an Intrepid II for over 30 years and it's been a good stove but just recently, the damper for the catalytic converter started slipping so I'll have to tear into it to see what's going on. Last year, I replaced the catalyst with a metal one instead of the old ceramic design as well as door and griddle gaskets. I hope that it will be easy to fix because it really heats my bedroom on cold Winter nights.

  • @willclark4954

    DO NOT PURCHASE THIS INSERT. I own one of these and it is absolute garbage. I have heated with wood stoves, inserts, and fireplaces my entire life... This is the worst unit I have ever used or owned. Vermont castings is absolute garbage now that they have been sold, they used to be top of the line, they still charge a premium, and it is absolute shit. There is no air control (damper) so the fire is constantly choking itself out when you want to run it on high. And you can't throttle it back to slow burn at night. In addition to that the catalytic converter or reburn or whatever they want to call it smokes out your entire house when you start cold. The dealers know this but they are in denial, the jackass I bought it from with try to tell me I didn't know how to start a fire. Please take my words of advice and do not buy this

      I've been reading about that! I have a Napoleon and an Osburn, looking at this one used on Marketplace. I'm all about the adjustable air damper, as my wood isn't always "ideal".

    • @willclark4954
      @willclark4954 Рік тому

      @@Hubjeep I can not stress enough that you should not buy this unit. Absolute garbage. And as other posters mentioned...since you can't close the flue, when it is not in use cold air just streams in from the chimney. Even with ideal full kiln dried wood this unit does not perform well Complete garbage. Vermont castings is a junk company now. Very sad, they used to be the industry standard for quality

      I was just looking at one because I grew up in VT and they had nothing but quality. Now live in TX and have a fireplace that will eat you out of house and home, VERY hungry! Two VC Encore Flexburns were returned and refunded two years ago. Both were uncontrollable with overfires.. We had 3 VC 2550 pre Flexburns for many years with NO problems for 24/7 heating. They are pretty wood stoves that are fine for entertainment and intermittent burns. I have rebuilt 2 VC 2550 stoves over many years. It is a shame that the new owners cannot make and back what was once a reliable product manufactured and designed by the original Randolph, Vermont owners.

    Any trouble shooting for the remote. When we push “on” it goes from displaying the F to C value. When we push “off” same thing as well as for mode and set. It worked fine up until a month ago. We have tried to reset it with the transmitter, but it’s not the transmitter, it’s the remote. We have replaced batteries, etc. any idea how to reset the whole remote?

    The manual, in addition to detailing replacement of gaskets, also mentions resealing seams with cement. What seams are they talking about? I’m sure only an authorized dealer/ service center will know as it says to take it to one for this. The stove I bought used has very little use and cleaned up nicely but I has globs of cement where I’m certain there should be none and it certainly wasn’t applied by a professional.

    I hate this stove !!!, Passed 2 years I have had nothing but trouble with this thing staying lite, I have new batteries, it won't light when power goes off, the thing sits there and beeps, when it's burning the flame dies down, some times it goes out and then pops back on, it's not the gas pressure, had it checked, other gas appliances work fine, can't trust this thing, To have the dealer come work on it I might as well buy a new stove. I have a friend with the same stove and he wishes he never bought it...I do not recommend this stove for anyone, not even my worst enemy...nothing but junk !!!!!

    • @carterharrington
      @carterharrington 2 роки тому

      @@oliviah1638 I dont have too much info on it, but I know that one trick is building up a nice bed of coals by having good air flow in the beginning, to get the steel of the stove hot enough so that when you add a few more logs it burns and doesnt smoke, then you can close down the damper and let it burn slower. Definitely good to get it really hot first, and then overnight you will want to add a couple of logs on the hot embers, then let those get good and hot before shutting down the stove for the night, you should still have embers in the morning with which to start the fire back up with fresh wood.

    • @kyledpiper

      I’ve owned this stove for 16yrs or so. The catalytic version with refectory in the back. Great little stove. Have pushed 60 cord thru it. After 500-550 degrees, you can close the damper and turn down the lower controls to slow things down some. For longer burns, just stack up the top with oak or something, perhaps something that is not bone dry. If you have a good ash bed in the tray, you’ll more than likely have coals to work with in the morning, if looking for a continuous burn.
