Where did you get that puller from?
Do you know the weight of these two together?
What size pipe did you use to press the parts back onto the output shaft?
If I ever come into the money to Whipple my car I'm going to do a Ben Cal stage 2 or something along those lines.. The trick is finding the right clutch to keep that stock feel.. I hate NVH and want my car to drive and feel like it could have came from Ford that way..
I am digging the MT82 stuff.. I have a 2017 Performance Pack GT I found with 8,909 miles on her a year ago.. I just hit 14K miles a on her a year later and I got the MT82 3rd gear Lockout blues from time to time now and I hate it.. But It's a very healthy trans still and saveable thank God.. I did the syncro shift 2 and my rear about a month ago! The trans fluid came out decent it wasn't burnt up at 14K. It came out like a blackish brown and there wasn't any metal particles in it so that was great. But the rear gear oil was burnt only at 14K miles. I put half of that OP BG Additive in the rear with Valvoline full synthetic 75/90 and the other half of the treatment into the trans case with the syncro 2.. It did smooth things out a lot and will protect the transmission better than the stock stuff for sure. But it doesn't fix a broken trans..
Dream killer is right when it comes to the MT82.. It's a summer time trans.. LMAO.. It goes in gear some of the time.. LOL, Nah I have a 17 D2 MT82 with under 15K miles on my GT and it's been OK.. But I have to admit the trans in it's stock form isn't meant for quick shifting n racing.. It's not until you do a built one with a better clutch that they become race friendly.. My advice is if you have one, just have fun with it, and take care it.. Keep the fluids clean and fresh, and an aftermarket shifter along with a better clutch will fix 98% of the lockout most people experience. But once you hurt this trans there's no real fix but to rebuilt it so if you are going to get one of these have a plan. Oh and for those who say I just get the 10 speed I say good luck with that too.. They hate added power and do fucnky shyt once you do turn them up.. Actually, one of the very worst things you can do to a 10 speed is Whipple it, if you want it to break it.. Don't get me wrong the 10 speeds are great up to about 700 wheel but even at that power level the freak out and do crazy up and down shifts, or shift way to early.. Look I love my GT but buyer beware...
How much does the stock M120 weigh? Especially compared to the iron block engines?

how much would a mechanic charge you think to replace 3rd gear with cyncro?
So, did you have any issues with your 6th gear engagement. All of the other gears in my transmission engage great except for 6th. The shifter moves back into place. It just doesn’t engage.

I had this idea 30+ years ago (I was working at a Mercedes-Benz dealer and owned a '68 Camaro) but ideas don't count unless you act on them. Engine setback is essential and I couldn't see cutting up my Camaro.
Really bugs me hoe they designed this transmission to have to be pressed together like that. Putting all kinda of lateral pressure on those bearings.
Hi bro i did the same way but after a year was dead because of water infiltrates where you cutted in the begining distroied the berring inside the electromotor so there needs to be done avoid water leak in.
Hi , wonderful idea and work. I been wanting to install a Mercedes V12 in my Ferrari 355 challenge body (no engine and transmission) I love the V12 because the sound, power and smoothness. The problem is that I don’t know how long this engine is compared to the mid engine space . If you have some measurements please send them to me. Hey! I am working on a 1993 600sl with the m120 engine. What are you using for an ecu, I have been having trouble finding one that will run 12 cylinders
I’m looking at the Haltech R5. Seems to be the only one that will do 12 cylinders sequentially. Most others are batch fire. They are pricey and currently difficult to find, but that’s the plan.

Bro, I'm installing my unisteer rack this morning. How does it steer with all of those joints? I'm trying to get it down to just 2 joints. It's been a nightmare to make the rack for though with my headers.
I haven’t driven it yet, but on the lift seems to be ok. Won’t know until we actually get it on the ground driving. Best of luck though!
Why did you decide to use 1/4 in brake line going to the rear, understanding that may be what was used but since you're installing all new brakes just wondering why you didn't go with 3/16? Great video very informative!
Went this route based on the brake piston size. When I reached out to Wilwood, it’s what they suggested for this setup. Any smaller and it may have not moved enough fluid for the larger pistons out back. Thanks and looking to start videos again soon!

@@sethtannermiller to be honest I don’t recall. However, if you have the calipers for front and rear along with brake piston sizes you can call Wilwood or any other after market brake parts vendor and they will be able to source what’s best. That’s my experience.

I did a rebuild to my mt82 but i have problem with 4th gear it makeing a grind noes and not going into the gear when i took it of a found no porblem in the 4th gear pr the slider I suspect that my inside shifter is having some problems can i text you to get some help ? I'll be so thankfull

respectfully, cutting up a Renntech 7.4 ain't a good idea. that car should be restored, not hacked. do you realize how rare that car is? it's future Barrett Jackson material. I'm going to be blunt, brutally honest...if you need an M120 V12, pull it from a 4 door barge. The S600 and SL600 cars should be preserved !! Hacking that Renntech is like parting out an original 426 Hemi Cuda. it ain't too smart...

What particular brand of braided brake line did you use for the rear disks?
Great project guys- for your connection to your block flange ( the oval port shape) instead of cutting and pulling apart the tube( to large a gap) to make the oval try making a hobb in the correct oval shape and after annealing the piece simply push the hobb in (using a stout press and some grease) to form the oval to round connector. clean and easy. Also I know it is maybe to late but did you consider two 3 into 1 headers on each side like the Ferrari Daytona? That is my project-a Daytona replica with the M120 and a late model corvette transaxle like the original car configuration. Keep your gaps to a minimum also. Built a set like these for my straight six BMW M3.Two 3 into 1 on that. Made the 5 inch long collectors as well. Make great power- they are 34 inch long primaries, but space is a problem for the V12 with 6 pipes on each side. You should try welding them yourself- you will get nothing but better with the practice. Keep your weld joints oil and grease free- wipe them down with acetone- no residue. Good luck !
Robert you are the man, We are also doing an M120 project as well and I have a CNC machine and was going to make a die to put the end of the tube into to press the OD into shape.. I just did the math and 3D scanned the entire engine to get all of the data, but more specifically the port shape exactly which works best with 1.875" x 0.095" wall primaries in order to get zero loss transitioning from Oval to round. So next up is to Machine the die to make the oval shape from 1.875" repeatable. but if any of you guys need anything don't hesitate to give me a shout -- Brett

I need your help I installed an oem throw out bearing in my mt82 i put everything back together when i started the car i heard a humming noise when i press the clutch pedal it goes away but when i release the pedal it comes back I didn’t drive the car yet when it was down I checked the input shaft it had very very little play what do you think it may be

A couple hurdles I ran into was finding the right distance from the engine for the trans to match up correctly. Cutting the bell housing square was a hurdle, even with the mill. One tip would be measure, measure and measure again. It’s possible but definitely not the easy button. Best of luck with your project! 👍🏻

hey so this last week all of sudden i was drving my manual mustang gt 2012 and noticed if i put my car into 3rd gear it would rev the engine it seems like i lost my 3rd gear, all other gears felt fine, my question is what do you think got damaged and needs to be replaced?

Curious, why did you not use the more powerful m137 engine from w220 s600? 😊
M137 is the 5.8 litre with 362 hp, hasn't got much on the M120.
