      To be honest with you I don’t think you’re wrong because we have this with savory foods as well as sweet foods. I’m from South Africa so we do things a little bit different but I think you might be right. I think you might be onto something 😀 thanks Anton!!

    Hey. Just wondering, does it HAVE to be canola oil? Would olive oil work aswel? I try to avoid seed oils.

    • @AllThingsFood
      @AllThingsFood 3 дні тому

      Im so sorry zj2604, normal vegetable oil is perfectly fine for this as well! Olive oil would be great too it will give a slight olive oil flavor, but that depends on what kind of olive oil you use. Thank you so much for watching the video and let me know if you have any more questions 🙌

    Love that you don’t focus much on making it perfectly round. Having it soft and tasty is more important than having a perfect circle but ending up with a flat and crispy bread. Nothing wrong with the flat and crispy tortilla, but Roti should be soft.

    • @AllThingsFood
      @AllThingsFood 7 днів тому

      I know I’ve been criticized about it before the roundness of my roti before 😅 but you’re 100% right a perfect circle means nothing if it’s not soft and tastes good 🙌 so thankful for the comment and watching the video 🙏

    • @AllThingsFood
      @AllThingsFood 22 дні тому

      Hi shaztaf, to be honest I’m not sure as I’ve never tried it myself. The denseness of the dough might actually break your machine so I’d advise to just stick to hand kneading if you can 🙏

    I used chapati flour is this not good for roti ? It turned out heavy - nice but not tear-able like yours !!!

    • @AllThingsFood
      @AllThingsFood 11 днів тому

      I think if it’s turned out heavy it could be that maybe you need to knead the dough for longer. Also allow the dough to rest for 30-60 minutes after kneading it. This should help the gluten in the dough relax and make it easier to roll out thinner 👍

    Ditch the canola oil garbage for healthier 100% pure avocado oil. Canola oil is a seed oil that causes severe inflammation in the body.

    I tried making the roti, but they didn’t turn out very well. Maybe because I didn’t have canola oil so I used avocado oil, and used too much, I think. I am not giving up though and I am going to make the yellow curry to go with my next attempt. I love your calm and gentle presentation, and how beautifully you film the process of preparing the ingredients. 😊
