Qidi plus 4 has a new design flaw and here is how to temporarily fix it. Bed blocking chamber heater
If you want to use the full 280mm build height with the chamber heater on, you need to apply this macro right now or you will loose your print.

    For $799, this is definitely a great feature-rich option. I mean, the thing can print advanced filaments and gets hot enough to print things like PC and similar. Insane idea that you're getting that kind of versatility for less than $1000. Also, as a blind person, I'm glad this thing potentially will work with Octoprint as I can monitor my printer using my computer and screen reader software so I know what's going on. The problem I have with Bamboo is that their stuff is not compatible with my specific needs in mind and no Octoprint support so that means I literally can not use it as I can't see the touchscreen. Locked down options like that are usually terrible for accessibility for people with disabilities like myself. No one will talk about this but an open-software type of approach is best for blind folks who want to 3d print.

    For me, Qidi is a joke of a company. Scroll the comments, like Flsun did back with their racer printer, now they are doing it. Botting comments, odd fking comments from stripped old accounts to not get them removed. It's in every Qidi review, EVERY. Second, if a company needs to copy sooo hard the outer design of the X1C to lure the buyer into thinking they are getting the same machine but cheaper, for me it's an automatic NO. You don't need to copy so hard NON-MECHANICAL parts to create the illusion of the same product if you are confident with what you make. So in the end, two big red flags that will keep me forever to own a Qidi. Will buy everything else (except for Flsun, lol). Not a serious company

      A joke is a bit rich, are they flawed? Yes. They still offer a lot off features for the price. You don't have to like it, any competition is always good for the market.

      @@NoizieWorks "any competition is always good for the market" definitely correct, but my point is not really specific to the competition rather than the shady marketing techniques used by Qidi. In your video there are a few botted comments, but just look up for any other review, full af of botted comments, and the copypasta design is another big red flag imo.

    Go for the Jayo ABS like, it's the same as Sunlu but cheaper, make sure the resin is heated to 25-35 degrees during print and cure the resin at 50-70C hot water, you will get awsome DMG resistant minatures.

    I had my new Plus4 delivered today. Unfortunately an out of the box issue, that I've had to contact support about. Ran the first auto bed levelling after setup. It started through the motions then a "!! No trigger on probe after full movement" error. There was a confirm button which I pressed. The bed then proceeded to slam into the print head, putting a nice little mark on the PEI sheet and giving the same error. Tried the firmware update, then a repeat of the attempt. Unfortunately, the same error again. Now waiting on support to respond. Makes me think about your chapter "Should you avoid first batch products.." Ho hum.

      @pauly-v-sixnine Unfortunately with qidi products, it seems to be a wait out the first batch type of deal. Especially if the parts are not critical. Have you removed the cover to go over all the wires? Sounds like the probe isn't working right now so i would start looking there.

    I own a CR Ferret and both Revopoint Range and Range 2. Revopoint software is way better. I use Revopoint’s Revo 5, not the crappy Revo studio or scan software. It updated regularly. The only advantages the Ferret has is that is more forgiving when scanning an item. When tracking is re aligned , you wont have duplicate parts like extra noses or legs. The other advantage is the the Ferret can scan black objects. Revopoint scanners do take more practice, but you will have betters scans with practice.

I did contact Qidi tech support about adding a Garolite bed and they said it could not be done because of the way the sensors work. My intention was to glue 0.8mm sheet of Garolite to PEI sheet, I would appreciate your view on this or any better way to print nylon. Thanks again all the Dave

    • @NoizieWorks
      @NoizieWorks 2 дні тому

      I see what they mean, it's the offset from the inductive probe and the nozzle probing. Not going to work well with extra .8mm. Did you try hairspray or the glue? And thank you!

    • @NoizieWorks
      @NoizieWorks 2 дні тому

      @daveedmunds7854 it's using the metal in the flexplate to probe with the sensor, then it does a physical probe with the nozzle to do the offset. What i think is that if you put a extra .8mm off non conductive material on top the offset can't compensated but you can try as long as the nozzle doesn't crash in the buildplate. I also have seen people use kapton tape. Honestly, print hot with a big brim and it's probably going to be fine. I use Nylon Cf and that sticks great.

    As far as I can see is that this is a huge design mistake, taking the plate away also is counter productive because the hot air then would go straight into the print material maybe causing stringing and deformation, the only way would be to route the air flow differently which of course would need a wider chamber to add some kind of hose to move the air into another direction. Also making it slightly wider to leave a gap between the metal plate and the vent would be the best solution to fix this, but apparently they did not want to change the design, you probably can retrofit it with a hack on the case to add a bulk and move the heating element slightly out of the old case and leaving a bigger hole open! and introduce a gap! or by widening the case which probably would be the best fix anyway Qidi probably added the plate as a quick fix last minute but the engineers did not think about the repercussions of blocking the heating vent entirely.Either way until someone fixes it probably turning off the heating element might be the best solution the heatplate itself can retain some temperature, some people added fans to their Bambus to get a better heat distribution and let the heat plate do its job. Might also be a hack, if your print becomes bigger simply only use the plate and add a fan!

    I think the best solution is to update the printer and tell your viewers they need to do the same. This way anyone who watches your review won't be misled if they receive a printer with the old firmware. This is the best solution for the manufacturer, for you, and for your viewers. To waste time on reviewing a printer with old firmware that has already been updated is coutner-productive for everyone.

    I was close to buying this printer the bearing issue however leaves me concerned, regarding clogging, one youtuber in germany stated he never uses the automatic loading he just manually cuts then "spits out" the residue filament unloads manually then loads manually and then pulls in the filament until it drops, that we he can avoid clogging. I hope the complicated clogging repair can be fixed with after market nozzles. The lose bearing however lets me abstain from buying it until I either know it is fixed or I know a simpler fix than taking half the printer apart and adding foam (which does not seem to be a durable fix either) Thanks for this really honest review, thats a perfect examples on how small overlooked fixable details can ruin an otherwise really good machine! I have had that with my Cr10-s pro which i had to "repair" for a full week before being able to properly print. I frankly spoken do not want to repeat this experience again!

      @werpu12 I have more updates then this, to keep it short. The foam didn't fix shit but look up my video if you're interested. Community also found the chamber heater to be problematic past 270mm. Also made a video about it for the workaround. Never had issues using the automatic loading and unloading, jam was all my fault. Also addressed in the 1.4 video. It's a great machine, definitely for the price but rushed or lacked proper testing.

    A few notes hope QIDI sees this. To date I have had zero issues, but glad I did catch your comments on this one before I go make a full 275 or 280mm height object in ABS or something requiring heated chamber to be on. I have had nothing but great success with the 4Plus received back on 25 September. I did send their tech support few notes and thoughts after seeing your first comments addressing this topic. If adding a heated chamber fan it should not directly blow few cm away from the ballscrew(narrower ducting or vertical uprights allowing hot air to not directly hit only one side of build plate, leave some room in the case design(perhaps a dedicated aluminum offset box area dedicated to a chamber heater)allowing for easy ability to add a custom duct on the outlet. I do see where this can be issue for the last few millimeters of a 280mm build height, but do see some workarounds that are possible, simply shutting off chamber heater for last fill layers my be all that is needed until the full fix gets put out. This may only effect folks with chamber heater on the last few millimeters, good catch(thinking some side ducts on chamber air exit may be helpful, but waiting to see what they come out with). I know they are working on this one, will see what they come up with, very important for me because 90% of all material I print has heated chamber going and I do on occasion print some very tall materials. Thanks for sharing this information. I have full faith they come up with a work around and fix, they do awesome job when things like this are found, they have a great running track record of adapting fast based on user feedback. This is all part of the whole mass market process for 3d printers happens to any and every company and the best ones learn, adapt, fix, and grow. That is the sign of a great company, so far to date every QIDI product has been rapidly updated based on great feedback from customers like yourself. This is not a reason to not buy, currently only effects small last few mm of full height and there are some workarounds. This machine prints some great prints, and is very consistent at doing it, not a game ender for me, it has too many pluses. Very happy with my machine, the Bambu while nice is way overpriced and does not come with the stock heated chamber, hence why I do go QIDI path. I had priced out Carbon X with heated chamber and price was around $2400 and than it only had the 250mm bed size, was a no go for me. The Plus4 prints out layers just as well as Bambu, has a larger plate(305mm is nice gain), and heated chamber for price of $799 was a no brainer. Qidi also came out with QIDI Studio which I am very happy with shows they are adapting the Orca and Bambu like feature sets which are a homerun. It comes down to what type of budget one wants to work with, I can purchase two machines for under the price on one CarbonX with heated chamber, with more capabilities and larger footprint, that is a complete homerun in my view. The negative is I lose all of the great software benefits that come with Bambu machines, which I will say is an amazing offering. QIDI release of QIDI studio is showing they are taking steps in the right direction with the software side.

    I must of did something wrong because when I did this, my printer would no longer print. It stopped before bed level and would just idle with nozzle at 140 degrees. I'll try again as I'm sure it's something I did. Thanks for the info

      @JohnDoe-ot5ir waiting for filament? There needs be be filament in the printhead and push the cutter so that's the only filament it will use to test this out.

    I just messaged qidi asking about this and whether it be a replacement shroud that is redesigned or partial refund because it wont do as advertised it dosen't say heated chamber unless you go passed the 270 mark

      @@NoizieWorks Their response Thank you for expressing your concerns and bringing this to our attention. We're aware of the chamber heat error and we will be addressing it in the next firmware update.I want to also assure you that the machine is designed with built-in safety features, including a temperature protection system for the chamber heater. Rest assured, the printer is solidly built, so there are no concerns regarding the hardware. We appreciate your feedback and are committed to improving your experience.

      @NoizieWorks exactly what I said in my response that they need to recall or when patched, will be false advertisement because we can't hit the 280 mark when printing because we need the heated chamber i also suggested replacement parts sent out for it but we will see what is said

      @andrew6061 In all my conversations as a reviewer, they are thankful but have a big avoidance to admit failure or act on it in a constructive way. They fixed the Q1pro but i'm not sure if sending replacement parts to existing customers when not broken is very high on the list. This indeed warrants a replacement part as it's fundamentally "broken". I can understand it, it's expensive but even creality does better if it's a factory fault.

    How this gets missed is wild…. Like All this would need is a test print of the full volume

      Pretty much, not even an actual print. I have done it with no filament untill then just to test it and yup! It's a problem

    The good old "fix your new printer yourself" routine. Looking forward to the new Bambu with their "works at it should right out of the box" philosophy.

    thanks for bringing this up. been pleased so far with the printer - my first one so complete noob to the technology anyway. seems like a fix should be very straightforward for the manufacturer to push out a replacement part. luckily apart from a poop chute ive not printed anything over 100mm anyway. multiboard and wall art are currently in the queue - so hopefully by the time i'm needing to do something full height it will be sorted.
