I'm Olivia, a thirty-something year old military veteran looking for a more peaceful existence in the world. And what an incredible world it is. And I want to see it all! Leaving my home town in Kansas at 17, I traded in my ruby slippers for a pair of combat boots. After serving overseas, I felt a bit homesick and came back to my roots. After a few years, I got the itch for adventure again. This time, I put on a pair of hiking boots and became a Park Ranger. This was a kick-ass job and I loved it. After a few years of working in Law Enforcement, I came to the realization that my life had been very...rigid...serious...and man I was tired. I was overdue for an escape. I saved up my money for a few years, sold off what I owned, and took off on an adventure. The best part it sharing it with all of you.

Becoming a Shellback
Our sailing trip across the south Atlantic ocean comes to an end. We spend some time with dolphins, our engine breaks, and we perform our Equator Crossing ceremony. Cape Town to Tobago in 53 days.

Our journey across the Atlantic Ocean continues. Onboard Sailing Vessel Ulmo, we pull into the harbor at Ascension Island where we are greeted by dozens of trigger fish. That night, we witnessed several green sea turtles laying nests on the beach. We rented a car and set out to explore this unique place.

Sailing across an ocean with a Stranger

I met a Frenchmen online who was looking for boat crew to help him sail across the south Atlantic from Cape Town to Tobago. The whole trip should take about 40 days. I hop onboard the Xanmar X-37 along with my boat captain boyfriend and we set sail. Our first stop is going to be in Saint Helena in about two weeks.

A couple of months ago I crossed the Mexican border for the first time, into Tijuana. I had some very brief (legal) business to do. Within a half hour of crossing, I was shaken down by the local police. They wanted $150, I ended up paying $100. I finished my business, took about 15 minutes, then immediately got in line to re-enter the US. I will NEVER go back to Mexico. I had heard stories about the Cartels and how dangerous they were, it's the police that you have to look out for. A Taxi driver was very nice and helped me figure out the VERY confusing and poorly marked streets.

I like how you show that lifes not always sunshine and rainbows. Sometimes the hike leads nowhere or is covered in volcanic rock and thorn bushes lol but the experience is more important than the destination!

I've wanted to dive out there for years, stoked to finally get a chance to do it. The cloud forest was incredible! Felt like it was an entirely different island from all the rocky volcanos.

Quite a variety of bowlines to choose from. Actually there are only two. One that you can't untie and the other is a slip knot.
We use them every week on our dock lines. Handy to know.

It was incredibly generous of him. And we paid him back promptly after the bank opened the following day.
That was pretty awesome especially in bare feet and after a rum & coke. I would have mashed a toe for sure. Curious if you had looked into swapping out the bearings in the BB cartridge instead of replacing the whole cartridge. I'm on my third Craigslist Airdyne but they're getting pricer now so need to actually fix this one. Glad to hear one that doesn't have the BB rumbling when it turns!
To be honest, I could have done a better job without the rum and coke, but it wouldn't have been as fun. I did not look into rebuilding the bearing, probably cheaper. I was surprised to find that they are popular and can be pricey.
