how can i get this effect to ignore certain actors like widgets or characters? thanks
That can be a bit hard to do from what I have gathered, the effect should ignore UI widgets just fine but anything placed in the world will be affected. I looked around a bit and it seems you could create a custom stencil for certain actors and then filter them out through that though I do not know how that works at all.
subscribed, keep gping
Many thanks!
@@PixelPerfect_Dev ur welcome, also, do u have a discord server?
if u want, i can make u one
@@dynstinn Thank you! Yes I do have one, I just created a server as it was requested by some people, not much happening yet but its there so you are more than welcome to join! discord.gg/rDAeWHaS
really love your tutorials brother, keep it up ❤❤ they are so easy that an beginer could easily replicate that, please never stop making these tutorials❤ god will blow up your channel soon ❤
Thank you kindly I appreciate that! I plan on keep making tutorials as long as people want to watch them and I still have something to teach! Always feel free to let me know if there is anything specific you want to see and I will try to make it happen! :D
@@PixelPerfect_Dev i am thinking of making a game which is set underwater with this same art style. can you make tutorial in how this effects will work underwater
Sounds really interesting and like a cool game idea! I will definitely look more in to that then!
this style of graphics is perfect for horror games as it makes them actually scarier. i was thinking for a same project like this but for mobile devices. hope i would learn a lot from your videos ❤❤❤
Thanks, I agree I always found the retro style games more scary just because of the graphics :D I hope the videos will help out and I wish you the best of luck on your project as well!
game looks awesome!! cant wait for the full game to release
Thank you kindly, I hope it will be a fun experience!
I'm designing a first-person roguelike inspired by this type of artistic style "PS1 lowpoly pixel style" and I really like what you did because it shares the same art style that I have in mind
Thanks that's great to hear that you like the content, I hope everything goes great for you on your own project as well!
Hi, can u give me a link to the reference image?
Hi, yea sure thing you can find the image here, seems like it is originally from Pinterest :) images.app.goo.gl/5xhoJC9tKiTpNet4A
@PixelPerfect_Dev ohh thanks broo!!
Nice video, but a tip I use A LOT without going to Blender is: open the mesh, remove existing collision. Press Add box collision and size to a wall or whatever. Now comes the real trick; You can not add more collision boxes it will remove the first one. But you can copy them! So just select the collision and hold Alt while draging it out. It will make a copy (ctrl c and v also works). Now you resize the new one to what you like. Only downside is you can not make new shapes like circles etc. But most of the time I dont need that. And you can also use existing collisions and scale them to the size you want.
Thanks! I agree it's something I end up using a lot for stairs for example or hallways :D
I’m sick and tired of ps1 graphics. Where are ps2 graphics?
Thats a good question, might be something to look in to later :D
Lovit!🔥👏 I’m currently also working on my own game/prototype. It is a massive under taking to make and complete a game so I am currently looking at episodic episodes the way Sin and Half Life 2 episode 1-2 etc. released in smaller chunks so weeks/months of work, rather than years of relentless effort to get out the final full fledged game. I have been thinking about this a lot lately and I think as indie devs we should bring back the days of episodic content. It makes sense more in away, as you get feedback way earlier for example player feedback for episode one, was e.g. the “story uninteresting or slow-paced or the game play felt robotic/no game feel” etc… and for episode 2 you can “fix/change” those pain points from user feedback! But what do I know I am just an hopeful part-time indie dev with a dream in his heart! 😂💪
Thanks! That sounds awesome, I agree with you though, I miss some of the episodic content that used to be release, but then again I also miss the good old expansions and stuff you could get for games :D haha Best of luck to you and the game you are working on, it's a big undertaking and a lot of fun!
Your in SWEDEN?? OMG I LOVE IKEA sorry
Haha who doesn’t love ikea :D
The story seems to be inspired from outlast.
Aha I should give the game a try then in that case! Only managed the first hour or so :D
@@PixelPerfect_Dev Ya you should its pretty good. I too had a pretty hard time to play it as it did scare me alot, also it has a lot of lore I would urge you too see a detailed story explanation. And keep up with your great work.
is this legal?
I mean as long as you do not use copyrighted images or do not change them up at all and use them in things you sell it should be all fine :)
Wow! Great job! I love the overall feel and atmosphere of the game. Im a big fan of ps1 style graphics, so i would love future episodes on the details of the process of making 3d models, textures, etc. good luck in your journey!
Thank you kindly! I will be sure to get some videos of that out soon. I plan on making one for modeling and texturing quite soon :)
Just keep the tutorials coming 🕺🏻
Hoping to keep them going! :D
avast keeps screaming that Shoebox is a virus lol
Oh, I do not have Avast but I have not noticed any issues with it. If you download it from the developers website there should not be any problems as far as I know at least. renderhjs.net/shoebox/
instant sub, I already really like where this is going!
Thank you kindly! Hope to show more very soon! :)
i desperately wanna play this game
Thank you! Hopefully it will be available at some point not to long from now :D
This is actually so good, making my own PS1-like survival horror is the reason I’ve got into game dev - thanks for your tutorial videos as well they’ve really helped 👍
Thank you so much! I hope that the videos will help you and best of luck with your work! :)
Let's go love a good devlog series 🙏
Thank you!
Great! Might if I ask if you made all this assets or you used some postprocessing / shader on regular assets for this effects?
Thank you! I made all the assets my self and there is no shader that is affecting them to any large scale. I have created a pixelation shader that is not set very high at the moment so it should not change to look to much, but helps with the aliasing look a bit :)
looks cool! are you going to use lumen? looking forward to see more devlogs
Thank you! Currently I am leaning against using Lumen, but I am trying to get a better idea of how performance heavy it would be. I would like the project to be easily playable on most specs :)
@@PixelPerfect_Dev when i was doing some personal projects it reduce the performance by a lot, and if you don't how to use it correctly (like me xd) you will get nasty light noise
@@chiwaka0357 Alright that is good to know, I have in general assumed Lumen would be pretty heavy so I have not looked in to it a lot. Might be better to leave it be then since I don't know how to use it properly either :D
very nice video I'm also currently working on a small horror game to practice up on skills ill be keeping watch you seem to have a log of good knowledge!
Thank you, I hope my videos help out and best of luck to you with your own project! :)
Nice to see another swedish indie, lycka till!
Tackar och bugar! :D
Looks cool
Thank you kindly!
Perfect timing for this kind of series in my life. Keep it up
Thank you kindly, hope the coming videos will stay as interesting! :)
Oh yea, another dime-a-dozen PS1 slow burn scp-inspired 15 minute long indie game.
Not 100% sure what the game will become specifically later down the line and unfortunately it's hard to make everyone happy with the result :)
Dude this looks awesome!! I wish you had a Discord server so we can get some updates!
Thank you kindly! There have been some requests for that so I am looking in to getting something for Discord set up soon as well! :)
@PixelPerfect_Dev Mate I look forward to that!! You've done incredibly well with everything
Thank you!
😅 it is scawy
That's the plan! :D
@@PixelPerfect_Dev @PixelPerfect_Dev i know XD i really liked the parts where you modeled stuff bc i do some stuff different and it is really nice to see how you do it so i can improve
like in the long form video there was a part where you modeled a controll panel and there was stuff i would've done in another way but this is way easier modeling is not really my part but im learning it XD
Thanks! Yea a lot of the modeling is a bit work in progress now with the goal being the prototype but I hope to make a video more focused on some of the modeling and texturing work as well soon :D
@@PixelPerfect_Dev yea i understand i want to get subtance painter looks like a good program are you eventually going to make a discord?
I am very curious as to how you achieved the ps1-era look.
I plan on making a video soon that goes in a bit more in to the modeling and texturing of some assets so hopefully that will help a bit more! :)
@@PixelPerfect_Dev That would be awesome! You got me at the vertex snapping where you change the grid size, that looks awesome! full video how to achieve these would really help out.
@@Deadmansway That is great to hear, thank you. I will be sure to go over parts of that as well when doing the modeling and texturing sections! :)
@@PixelPerfect_Dev Gloriously wonderful! thank you, appreciated! Good luck with your game, very hyped to see how to be able to achieve all of the things and explained how to make it ^^
Discord?
I do not have that yet but it's definitely something I am looking in to getting :)
Dang, looking great already! Very promising approach to actually getting to the finish line. Cheering you on brother! 🎉
Thank you kindly! Hopefully structuring everything this way will help out!
Awesome
Thank you!
SCP Vibes, very interested in seeing how you achieved the PS1 look.
I plan on making a video going through a bit more on how to model and texture some assets so hopefully that will be helpful! :)
Looks awesome!
Thank you kindly!
Very nice. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for watching! :)
Want to see how your game get shape. ❤
Thank you! Will try to keep posting regular updates!
Very nice low poly design.
Thank you!
This looks amazing dude, can't wait to see it develop further
Thank you kindly, will hopefully be able to post regular updates!
looks cool maybe add pixelation
Thank you! Yes I agree, there is a slight pixelation post process material active but I think it will need to be shown a bit better going forward.
@@PixelPerfect_Dev yea at the start i saw it less now i see it more in the video tho looks pretty cool :D
i got all noti's On cuz i want to see how to grow! good luck buddy! i want to try gamedev, but im so busy doing youtube stuff haha o7 o7
Thank you very much and best of luck with your channel as well, it looks awesome!
Liking that PS1 look, its very nostalgic.
Thank you! It's a fun look to try and keep creating.
