The main fallacy of this idea is that it conflates a group of people of thousands of years ago with another one of the present day. The claim that the colonisers (their own words, your own words, Zionism's own words, sorry) of Palestine from Europe are equivalent with the group of people who practiced Judaism in Palestine 2 millennia ago needs firm proof even if we ignore the absurd anachronism embedded within. But it seems that any proof available clearly refutes this claim.

Not to resort to ad-hominins, but frankly i have never come across a professor that has exhibited such cluelessness within the span of 5 minutes. Let me enlighten you; 1) Do you know the difference between a Jew/Hebrew/Israelite? of course the meanings have all become conflated over the years, but at some point in time there were a "people" who were united by 'descendance' or blood (i.e. descendants of Jacob) . This has nothing to do with the 'faith' they observed. If you had ever bothered to read the Torah you would have understood that not all of the children-of-Israel followed El'lah (Yahweh), some even apostatized and inherited the beliefs of the Canaanites which they were supposed to overthrow entirely; take for instance the tribes of Dan & Asher who failed to eradicate the Canaanites despite instructions from God, resulting in admixture which believed in "Baal" & other Gods. (The Torah is very clear on this). Fast forward to the 21st century, and there are countless studies on gene migration and haplogroups that prove without a shadow of doubt that Palestinians share a lot of DNA with Jews. It therefore is not unreasonable to think that many Jews converted to Islam over the years as Islam exerted it's influence. To presume that Jews never adopted other faiths when the Torah itself proved otherwise shows academic ignorance. No-one disputes that there was a population that adhered to the 'jewish faith' back in the time of David / Solomon / Moses - but to conflate religion with 'people' is just abject stupidity.

To the extent that feels familiar in 1944 Nazi Germany where one would expect supporters of the reich encouraging support for the 'brave' German soldiers. I find it insulting that the term 'antisemitic' is used whenever there's any criticism of Israel. This is not about Jews or their history; to conflate that with Israel is dishonest at worst or ignorant at best. I wouldn't worry about the 18 year old IDF soldiers, if you ask any of your colleague professors with any grasp of statistics or probability-modelling they would readily tell you that after the fighter jets have wiped out a block the ensuing soldiers on the ground are relatively safe. The numbers speak for themselves. Israel's slaughter of Gaza is equivalent to not just shooting fish in a barrel but throwing a grenade in the barrel. Brave are the Jews who have risked condemnation from their peers and have stood up against the slaughter in Gaza. People like Norman Finkelstein and Noam Chomsky are the real Jewish heroes who should be celebrated for dedicating their whole academic lives towards pursuit of truth - they are the brave ones. If all your tenure in academia has come to the conclusion that Israel's government and their actions deserve support then you should readily resign.
