I've tried it. I hold a PPL and normally fly a Piper PA38. I tried a Boeing 737-400 Simulator and crashed every time. I think it's because I was taught to look out of the windscreen rather than at a video display. I hope I'm not alone.

The captain audio when he is in focus should have been the real audio, and not the walkie talkie audio. This is terrible to listen to.

Wow I so want to try this! I think I could do it with the help of ATC but it would be on a non windy day and a modern aircraft no bigger then a 737 except if it were a L1011 they can land on their own or so I have heard.

I've now watched this enough times to feel confident to replicate if I'm ever in the same situation and with lose of communication to the tower.

What I don't understand is........ If my plane requires 132 buttons to be pressed to land.........Why hasn't someone just made a single button that presses all of those buttons...... Why is it so unnecessarily complicated? Just install a "Land" button. Then when one of us passengers gets selected to land the plane all we have to do is push the "Land" button.. There is no reason in 2024 you need to do that much work....

There is a lot wrong with this concept. Assuming no adverse weather, mechanical problems, lots of airports around and no dead body interfering with the controls: - A passenger had to pick up how the radio works before talking to anyone outside the cockpit. Good luck with that in the first place. - He will talk to a AT Controller, not a pilot. They might get one at some point, but probably not a type rated one. - Stress and Adrenaline will do the rest There are some cases of pax landings in smaller and GA-Airplanes, but never an airliner. And it was usually a pinch-hitter background, a frequent flyer, a former pilot etc.
