Im all for conservation and respect slot limits, but i yhink its absolutely crap that rec fishermen are not allowed to take thise larger flathead - I wouldnt myself- but all of the professionals who are skilled and take every day are not prevented from taking them and are allowed to. Its incredibly biased and does nothing to help the species

What rod and reel for bonitos you reckon bro ?

My go to gear is a 6000 size reel with PE3 braid and a rod around the 10 foot mark rated the same as the line. This gives you some scope to land the odd bigger by-catch here and there. I like the Oceans Legacy Specialist rod in PE2-4. I think it is 9'8"

This day I was running about 1.5m of 100lb monofilament trace to an 8/0 hook, the other end has a swivel with the float above that. No sinker. I tie a rubber band as a float stopper around the leader above the float so there is about 3-5m from the rubber band to the hook. I adjust depending on the depth of water
