Lyrics:
Venomous tongues, feed outright lies
People are cunning, honey ... as sharp as knives
Unfounded stories, they dwell in evil minds
I’ve been there, done that, too many times
When the lines get thin, they get you all in ... and let your palace lay down in ruins
After the bullets are shot, they glorify God .... while new deceit is already brewing
King Long Green is a puppet ... greed, it’s puppeteer
King Long Green is a puppet ... greed, it’s puppeteer
“It’s not the man who has little, but the man who craves more that is poor.”
(Paraphrase - Seneca)
"To those who can hear me, I say - do not despair. The misery that is now upon us is but the passing of greed - the bitterness of men who fear the way of human progress. The hate of men will pass, and dictators die, and the power they took from the people will return to the people."

Dang man another one you nailed !
Nice Ricky btw !
@@rae2717 Thanks so much for the kind remarks. I love my Ric's! :) I'm considering putting toaster pick-ups in the 330-6. I do have one in my 12-string in the bridge position, thanks to someone who was kind enough to gift that to me, and it made me realize how great those pick-ups are for that particular sound. That said, I'm not sure how toasters would sound on something like this??
Dang man you nailed it !
Ahhhh, thanks. I gave it a go, if anything else. :) I would love to do a full cover of this song, but not very many folks can sing that in quite the right way. Not an easy one to pull off.
Peter, I'm always super impressed by your perfect picking and strumming technique. Really doesn't get any better than this. It's such a joy watching you play. And Gert's vocal performance is very much on point too!
Oh, thanks so much, Genghiz. That means a lot coming from you. It's crazy to think that these songs still have so much magic!!! And so much fun to play. Challenging, but fun! :)
Excellent - grabbing the album now
@@timdunn2344 thanks much, Tim!
Nice job
Thanks 🙏!
Yes, yes! This ttack has that yearning feeling to draw you in! It’s familiar yet distinct! Arranged in a beautiful guitar landscape - sonic and vocal lines are so on point!!🕊️💽
Sub'd. The 555th dude. 😊
Cheers!
A song like a hidden gem. Kaleidoscope-like arpeggio, and exquisite vocals. A really telented song. Thank you for letting me listen.
Thank you kindly!! We're very touched that you like the song. We really appreciate you taking the time to listen.
What kind of acoustic guitar do you use in this song? (Sorry for all questions)
@ I never mind questions, no need to apologize. I used a Martin D-15 on this. Funny, those guitars were relatively cheap when I bought mine in the late 90’s. They are about twice the price now. I wasn’t aware that they had gone up in value. It is a simple, no frills guitar that sounds and plays well.
Thank you. I saw it in other videos and thought it sounded good.
Love it ❤
@@LadyVEE_ Cheers! Thanks!
Another great track! I love the guitar arrangement and vocals on this.
Thanks very much. This was actually the first original we collaborated on, and therefore, was the birth of our songwriting partnership ... so I have a special fondness for this track. Thanks for listening.
Yeah great sound and atmosphere !
Thanks so much, Phil.
Great track! 🔥
Thanks, David!
This is a an unreal-top trax - so lovely on so many levels !!! The guitars are bright and hopeful - lingering - such a tapestry of perfection ! The tremolo is heavenly in its parts throughout - I Can’t get enough of the ear candy sound scapes!!! The drums and bass line giving the the depth of structure and groove for the perfect level of mystical darkness to the track! Vocals are perfect for the track - delivery is superb , lyrics are punchy and powerful I can’t say how much I love this track - gets into my bones and soothes my sole! Well done boys!!!!💥🔥
Thanks so much for the kind words, Ian. Glad you picked out the tremolo, which is kinda doubled with a piano. Appreciate the positive vibes. :)
hi, pedals your ussing ?
Hello ... the pedal I am using for the electric parts is a Zoom G3x. I know that might sound funny, but that is what I was using for direct recording at the time. I have since purchased a Boss IR-200, but for a long time, my main pedal for recording was a Zoom G3x, and I almost always used the Fender Twin model with a little bit of compression. I didn't use chorus, as I prefer to just double-track the guitar parts for natural chorusing. I hope that answers your question. I would not use the same thing if I was playing live, however.
It's so wonderful that I can't expess it. A song full of talent. nice guitar solo, wondeful.
We are very flattered by such a nice comment! Thank you so much for listening! It really means a lot!
I can't get enough of this song. I would like to know how you create the sound of a guitar solo (2:05〜). e bow ? wish you success.
@@keiichimisaka7421 That sound is a pre-bend (high to low) while using a volume pedal to swell it in. I love questions like this because this is exactly the type of thing I would ask about. :) Thanks again for listening.
Oh! Thank you very much! It had a great sound, so I'm glad you let me know. I'll try using volume pedal too. Thank you.
I love volume swells and mainly do them manually with a volume pedal (like on this song), but I also like auto-swell pedals like this: www.ehx.com/products/attack-decay/ What’s great about this pedal is that it will also give you reverse type effects and also has a fuzz. Lots of fun! I just noticed there is a nee version of this pedal that is smaller and less money.
If I could just give a thumbs for this song every time I listen. Every good job! Embrace your talent, guys!
Thanks so much for the very kind comment. And thank you for taking the time to listen.
So good♥♥
Thanks very much for the positive remark. And of course, for listening.

@@clemensn2000 feel free to reach out.
Excellent. It’s great to hear some original material even though the covers are always great.
Thanks very much. I/we much prefer writing original material. It just happened to be that we both fell away from that for a bit. I can only speak for myself, but for me a lot of it came down to just not feeling inspired for a number of years. That is precisely why I started doing the covers in the first place. I was concerned that if I didn't stay connected to music in some way, I would fall away from it altogether, and nearly did. Doing the covers also allowed me to learn a fair bit about engineering/production. Meeting Gert (we met right here on UA-cam) was such a wonderful thing to happen. Even though we are 5000+ miles apart, we somehow inspired one another through doing the covers and built a musical rapport. It felt very natural to start writing original music with him. I couldn't have asked for a better songwriting partner for where I am in life. Thanks much for listening.
@@welldonep Thanks for the reply. For some reason I always assumed you were from the UK. 😆 I’m trying to finish some songs at the moment so I know what you mean about relearning the production stuff. I shall take a listen to the rest of your album.
@@ShiningHourPop ... A number of people have thought I was from the UK. I'm listening to some of your stuff on Bandcamp. Cool stuff! Lots to digest there, so I'll get through them in time. The few songs I've listened to remind me a little bit of Gene.
@@welldonep thanks for listening. I really liked Gene. It’s interesting you hear them in a few of the songs.

Excellent!
Thanks so much. It has been nice working on original songs with Gert. A very natural songwriting partner. And it was also nice to have Bryan join us on bass.
Where is Morrissey ?? 😮
I hope your grandchildren won't see this ! 😂😅
It is just so hard to sing like Morrissey . . . 😮
More stuff like this . . . please ! ❤
We'd love to. It's a matter of time. We have been concentrating on our first record of original material, which I'm pleased to say is finished and will be released on Bandcamp on October 21st. It will be available on all streaming services a couple of weeks later. Gert, the singer, lives in Belgium (I live in San Francisco, CA) and we actually met on UA-cam a couple of years ago. We shared a love of the Smiths and started recording these covers for fun, but eventually we fell into writing original music, which is what we both prefer, so we decided to make album of original music. But we still plan to do more covers, and definitely more Smiths songs.
I really miss the 80"s
Haha. I hear ya. Life seemed a lot more simple back then, and the music was a lot of fun!!! Maybe I'm just old.
This bass sounds like cool shit man !
Wally did such a great job on the bass, as usual. Wally is quite solid ... both as an individual, and a player. :)
If only you could sing ! man . . .
@@carlosrecuerdaruiz2948 right there with you. I have never considered myself a true lead singer. I occasionally find a song I can put over relatively well, but Gert is quite a good singer, so I’m fortunate to be able to work with him. And Wally is also a great bass player. Thanks for tuning-in.
@@welldonep yeah ! I really love the song but I missed Morrissey´s voice in that one ! sorry man ! . . . I tried so hard to sing all over the years and never quite get it ! it is not as easy as it may seem ! you need a good sounding voice and try to educate it ! not an easy task . . . singing is not for cowards ! lol
@@carlosrecuerdaruiz2948 No need to apologize. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and I am not offended by opinions in the slightest. I agree, I find singing very difficult in general. I tend to find it harder to do in the studio and/or on recordings than live for whatever reason, assuming I have decent monitors when singing live. But I've gone back and forth between wanting to 'try' to be a decent lead singer and I just don't believe I have what it takes despite loving to sing. It is super difficult, as you mentioned, and personally, I think Gert did a great job on this, particularly considering everything mentioned above.

Very complicated...
@@windsurfingwallstreet6102 I find it to be one of those deceptively simply songs with a few unique/uncommon chords. A number of Smiths songs are similar in that manner … somewhat simple, but not exactly simple to play and/or get it to sound just right. I guess that’s why I love to take them apart and try to work out all the parts. It’s like a puzzle. 🤓
A tutorial would be great.
Hello… I’ve been asked a few times about doing tutorials and the truth is, I do not necessarily feel qualified to do so in many ways. I play by ear mostly, and work out the parts through repetition. I don’t really know music theory, etc., so I’m not sure how I would explain a lot of what is going on in this song in particular. I have thought about possibly doing something where I simply play each part very slowly and explain the basics of what I ‘think’ is going on, but I am currently working on an EP of original music and that takes up most of my time.
@@welldonep I play a bit but my effort is rough to say the least!
@@winstonsmith3690 playing and simply enjoying it the most important thing, in my eyes. Speaking for myself, playing music is my personal mental mental health program. When I’m playing, it takes all my stresses away. I honestly don’t feel like I am a great musician, but I certainly do enjoy doing it, and that’s the most important thing. So keep playing, I say! 😁
Excelente, le agrega un plus el outro de Asleep
Thanks so much! Had to get that 'Asleep' intro in there. :) I've listened to the single so many times that I always anticipate Asleep right after Rubber Ring.
Everything sounded great but the high point for me was hearing how you nailed the vibrato! I was waiting for that part!
Thanks much. Yeah, that is a pretty important little flourish in the song. I remember my younger self being so taken by that sound. This was before I really knew how it was done. 🤓 That said, it’s still such a great effect.

Oh! That's the best!
Perfect, like every other Smiths cover you've done in the past.
Ahhhhh, very kind of you to say. The songs are so well written. Often when learning a song, some of the magic is lost. With Smiths songs, it often feels even more magical. Thanks for the kind remark.
@@welldonep That's a very interesting point and I couldn't agree more. I play guitar as well, not as skillfully as you do, far from it, but when I play some Smiths tracks I get that same impression you mention; you just realise how well written they are, all they different layers and elements and the little touches here and there that make them so special.
@@Gonzax Yeah, I always refer to learning and recording them as 'doing my puzzles'. I love how all the parts work together. That is what interested me early on and still holds the same interest to this day. I personally love the acoustic guitars in the songs, which I think it often overlooked, but I think they play a really important role. I guess a lot of that has to do with me considering myself more of a rhythm guitar player vs. a lead player. I've always held the art of good rhythm guitar in high regard.
