However, whenever she tries to build her own, she gets unlucky with the placement and her hard work always gets trashed by a landmine she didn't see.     This is really coming together, I think you're onto something great. I would just suggest making the beginning of the first level pick up faster, so that you can get into the action sooner. Since enemies can be behind you, perhaps a rear view (or just the ability to move the camera around) would be good? The UI could also be improved to be smaller while still showing information in an easy to read format, so as to not clutter the screen.

      The beginning of the first area is intentionally left empty to allow a new player to adjust to the controls before being sent against bullets. This is also where a controls tutorial plays. As for the spawners in GPS levels being off screen, I have plans on how to deal with it, don’t worry.

    This looks very promising... I think it would be better if you could have multiple angles, since it's a bit hard to tell how close the bullets are when you're staring directly at them.

      @@Tokiko Note: I found that warmer colors such as Red, Gold, and Orange seem to be better for depth perception, as they don’t overpower the white core.

    The game continues to evolve, it's cool. Yakinatori and her patterns look more gentle and understandable, for example, line shots or, as I understood it, something like "Fractions". As if the first part of it is quite good for filling Graze, and yet, the pattern looks quite beautiful. But, there are only 2 stages, so I wonder what kind of danmaku she will have next. Good luck with the development and I hope that everything will turn out well for you. (By the way, I wonder why Sachi would beat a cooked Phoenix... I hope this will be revealed in the dialogue... Or maybe Sachi is just hungry?)

    Absurdly interesting. Don't think there's anything quite like this; normally you have something like Space Harrier (modern version of that being Mirage Feathers), Touhou Multi Scrolling/Shooting Star or After Burner (modern: Rogue Flight). Don't think there's a bullet hell with free movement that still orients bullets towards the player for dodging. Looking forward to this!

      Thanks! Theres been a lot of challenges with this, and I’ve had to adapt. One of the challenges is having to fire the bullets relative to the speed of both the boss and the player, so that the player has time to dodge. They are flying super fast, and firing bullets normally would whiz at the player so fast that they couldn’t react. Other than that, it’s just a lot of illusions. Like the enemy scaling up when far away so you can see them, the grazing hitbox being slightly forward, etc. I had to orient the bullets based off the players velocity because otherwise Sachi is moving so fast and the angles are so small the bullets would appear to be straight and look like they’re flying weirdly otherwise. Theres been unique challenges.

      ​@@sachiterasuJetsune hm, so basically, as a player, you have to "allign" a 2D box (due to how bullets fire relative towards the player's position in space and time, you end up dodging a bit more like a 2D game) towards a moving boss (the alligning action = the useage of the 3D space in keeping the line to the boss green)? That's pretty interesting. I wonder if this means that one could have both flight controls as shown here as well as 2D dodging controls ala Space Harrier; if so, that would allow for a bit more micrododging for survival, i.e. more complex or also faster patterns. I'll wait for a few more updates before trying this out, but I'm pretty hype for it ^^ Currently really interested in how bullets are portrayed in these games, as I myself come more from a 2D shmup background, so I have been grinding through the few games like this that exist to understand them better.

      I guess that’s a way you can put it, but the player is able to move anywhere they want. And the game’s default control scheme is usually simple flight controls (Pitch and Yaw). It is truly 3D still though, but because of how the boss is moving, you still have that satisfaction of dodging a hail of bullets. The bullets only appear to orient themselves based on the direction they are going from the players perspective. They never actually change directions, even if they appear to. The best way to think about how the game is supposed to look is to watch one of MinusT’s videos, as they are the main inspiration for this.

    I feel like this game has just unlocked the one main ingredient for a 3D bullet hell to work: letting the player fly around relatively freely in a borderless space, while still forcing them to actually deal with the thick of the patterns. Really nicely done on that end. The one problem I have is how hard it messes with my depth perception when the bullets move toward the camera. But I'm really not sure what can be done about that.

      It has been quite the challenge so far, and I’ve been trying to deal with it! I’ll find a way… eventually… maybe? It involves a lot of illusions so far. For example, the center of the grazing hitbox it placed more forward of the player, so that it feels more like your grazing with bullets you can actually see.

    I'm sorry, I have no problems with my eyesight, but I don't even see where the bullets are and where they are flying, so in general, I don't understand their trajectory and it seems to me that they are 2D drawn, against the background of 3D characters and background. And so, bro, good luck creating the game, it's just fucking awesome. If you give you conditionally a couple more years, then you will get just a fucking 4k danmaku shooter, from the 3rd person, it will be just fucking awesome.       Thanks! Honestly, the problem here is that both the player and the enemy are moving which makes a few interesting issues that that 3D Touhou EOSD doesn’t face. 1) The Danmaku has to be fired relative to the player’s speed, otherwise the player won’t have time to dodge. 2) The bullets are 3D objects, but I tried making them close to how the bullets in Touhou look, just cause. 3) The bullets move in a weird trajectory where they’d appear to not rotate when they should, something something doppler effect is a dumb thing, so I have to have to rotate the bullet models relative to the player, which is noticeable, but I found you can get used to it. If you fly straight, the bullets travel where they are facing. Now the other issues I’m having: - Models and environment art. I’m no terrain artist, environment artist, nor 3D artist. I’m learning but it’s definitely not my area. - Music: I am not ZUN. The track “Flying Metal Fox Girl” felt like a fluke as I had worked on Sachi’s theme for years. I will definitely not take years on this game, as I want to have something to show for myself. It is stressful trying to make something perfect, so I’m just making it as good as I can. Can’t go wrong with passion!~ But I’m definitely working on it for at least another college semester maybe. I want to turn it into a series where I can improve with new ideas every time. I mean, some cat girl wind goddess named Felkaze gonna have the wildfire reach her forest and she’s going to try to put it out with tornados… which ends up in fire tornados. :p I just wanna work out things like gameplay and bullet patterns first before I work on obstacles and environment like that.

      ​@@Gasteclair So, I can't exactly set the brain to use late update because then the camera starts jittering, but I found that my target group it was locked onto (During the target lock mode) was updating on fixed update, so I just now changed that to Update.       Heh, but I can't lie! Jetsune Emberfall was *inspired* by it! Especially the 3D animations by minusT! My favorite being Subteranean Stars! Plus I'm humble enough to say that this game is probably not gonna be better than the world touhou established! I'm still learning about it, actually! I will say, that the first level will feature a Phoenix/chicken who builds houses! However, her houses blow up because she always seems to be the unlucky when it comes to building locations. She builds them on landmines! Sachi catches her burning a field searching for landmines! The name of that character will be Poulma Yakinatori! She controls fire. :3

      Well, unfortunately, that would've had a chance if the game was still being worked on. It lost momentum for some reason, and it's entirely not my fault. I actually have more of the remixes in stock for *Later* levels, and most of the music is done. I refused to do any more music until the game was worked on again, so it's not 100% complete, but it's pretty close.

      @@YTSirBlack Well, legend has it that I've downloaded a bunch of random games a long time ago, and this was one of them. I would do a full walkthrough of the game but seems like not a lot of people are interested because people don't have the game.

      @@YTSirBlack I wouldn't even know if I am able to upload it. I mean, I would probably have to get Geo's permission. And I'm not looking to get another social media account in order to do so. I could share it privately, but seeing as this isn't private, I don't feel comfortable sharing it. Maybe Geo took it down because he didn't want anyone to download it. Maybe he was embarrassed by the game's difficulty and poor-ish programing. Maybe he doesn't want this game to be associated with gwain saga because it's something much more now.

      I was planning to add an edit saying *Thank you Geo...* But I was like "Fudge it, that's not even the real card anyway. I don't know what that is." And there are multiple jumps like this to get cards throughout the game.
